a bunch of autumn leaves

Hello there,

I know spring is close....
but is this a reason not to use a whole lot of autumn leaves on my layout....?

No! There will be enough time to use flowers and spring things the upcoming weeks.

And i sooo much wanted to create a layout with a lot of
leaves (Tattered Leaves #656927) again...

Tattered Leaves (#656927) together with Bookplates (Tags & Bookplates #656938)
made a perfect frame for the hiking pictures of last years vacation...
At least a short title made with the funny Wordplay-Alphabet (Bigz XL Die - Word Play by Tim Holtz #657837)...

finished.... i love how it turned out...

*************************

Hallo Ihr,

Materials:
Sizzix Big Shot Plus (#660020)
Sizzix Bigz Die - Tattered Leaves (#656927)
Sizzix Bigz XL Die - Word Play by Tim Holtz (#657837)
Sizzix Movers & Shapers L Die - Tags & Bookplates (#656938)

Habt ein schönes Wochenende
Liebste Grüße, Stephanie

Personalised Christmas table decorations using Sizzix dies

Last minute Christmas decorations? Well, if you are like me (always leaving everything for the last minute) then yes, is now or never!

Here is a simple way of making Christmas table decorations in the shape of napkin holders. The idea came because we are going to be six people during Christmas in my parents house, and since my parents insist on using traditional fabric napkins, I thought to personalized holders would be a good idea.

Since they only have to last about a week, i thought paper and chipboard would be good enough, otherwise I would have used fabric which last much longer and still can be die cut nicely.

I used  Sizzix Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Word Play 657837, 659976 Sizzix - Ornament Tree by Paula Pascual and Sizzix Bigz Die - Circles 656333.
i attached the papers (Apsen Frost from Basic Grey) and attached them to mount board (the stuff used to frame pictures which is prettier than chipboard).
Then I die cut the circles (medium circle of the die) and die cut plain paper using the smaller circle included in the die.
I used the paper attached to the mount board to die cut the letters that correspond to our family's initials.

Using a distress ink, I inked all the edges and then glue them together. Using a glue gel I attached cardboard cylinders to the back.

I let the glue dry completely. I was going to take the easy option and spray paint the backs, but then I opted for paper. Finally, to add extra detail, I used the leftovers - all the little flowers and dots - from the Ornament Tree (659976 Sizzix - Ornament Tree by Paula Pascual).

And, this is how all looked together once finished, I quite like them!

And while my mum will insists on using proper table linen, I don't have any so I had to use kitchen paper towels for the photo. But you get the idea!

... And to celebrate this festive Blog Hop, we have a giveaway with a selection of fantastic dies and the Big Shot™ Machine up for grabs! Click here to enter
So here’s my contribution – I’ve been thinking for a long time about making an Advent Calendar – but wanted to make something slightly different – this year I had this idea – hope you like it – I know my grandchildren will!
So here they are!

Advent Cones
You will need about 75 cm of fabric for the circles and about 1.25m of fusible interfacing.
For the numbers you will need about 15cm of contrasting fabric.
You will need 10m of ribbon cut into 20cm lengths ( you will need 48, two for each cone).
I used the Big Shot Pro and die http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/656678/sizzix-bigz-pro-die-circle-6 to cut 24 circles in Christmas fabrics and 24 in fusible interfacing. I fused the interfacing to the wrong side of the fabric circles.
I used Tim Holtz Word Play die to cut all the numbers 1 -24 http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/657837/sizzix-bigz-xl-alphabet-die-word-play , for the numbers I fused some fusible web to the wrong side of some Michael Miller Fairy Frost fabric and then cut out the following quantity of each number ( remember to lay the fabric RS down to cut out ),  -2 x 0, 13 x 1, 8 x 2, 3 x 3, 3 x4, and 2 each of numbers 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.
Fold,  the circles in half to create semi-circles, press the fold and then fuse the numbers in place -

(as these are only used for a short time I haven't stitched the numbers in place but you can if you want to)
Pin 2 lengths of ribbon to each semi- circle  - and zig-zag stitch around the edge, and across the ribbons.
Overlap the straight edge of the semi circle, by about 4cms/ 1 1/2", to create a cone, pin and straight stitch in place photo 4

Your advent cones are now ready to fill and enjoy, and they are large enough to put more than one chocolate in!!! I have made the ribbons to be tied for hanging so that you can hang them anywhere you like - so if you don't put your Christmas tree up until part way through Christmas you could hang the cones around the house - in a sort of treasure hunt. Have fun.

Advent Diary - final part

Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. My husband and I went to my parents home in Mallorca, where i grew up. It is a beautiful island and we were blessed with ten days of sunshine and warm temperatures which is unusual for this time of year even in Mallorca.

I am happy to report that I finished my Advent diary. (Previous posts here and here.)

I mostly did all the writing during the month except for the days we were away. the pictures though I had to wait until a few days ago as I did not have a computer until then.

I printed all my mobile photos the same size and by accident I prented the date and time when they were taken. Now, I would usually trim that info away, but since the aim of this project was to tell what, when and where we did this advent, I thought it was best to keep it as it would provide extra info.

For the photos I die cut extra tags out of acetate using the same Tag & Tie die from Tim Holtz, and attached them where ever possible.

Each day has number tag that is decorated with the number die cut with the Wordplay Tim Holtz die, then either a single paper tag, acetate one or a mix of them.

Of course, the 25th had many pages since it is my birthday and I did take more than usual photos.

Once completed, I joined them all with one of the Tim Holtz chain balls, I prefer those to the ring binders and those seem to stick out and are harder to store.
As you can see is a rather large tag book, but I shall treasure as it contains a record of 25 really special days.

My adventdiary project

When a couple of months ago I did this advent project (which is basically a diary of the December days before Christmas)  I tried to convince myself that I would indeed make the reform to write something per each day tag. I knew that was a hard task, never been good at diaries!

But funnily enough all the tags are up to date though I need  to finish the front covers for each day (like the above one).

Since my best friend was in town for a few days, some of the days have extra tags!

This is how the advent diary is looking today. Minimal changes from the original, basically the made up tags are the ones with the hole reinforcers.
