Clearing the walkway

Clearing the walkway Winter Work The Sandman Salting or sanding?
Two guys in tractors hard at work at a walkway next to the Nynäsbanan railway line in Tungelsta. The first one removing the snow and I had to step out on the road so that he could pass me. He was followed a few minutes later by the guy that I usually refer to the sandman.

1949 Volvo Tractor

Tractor fail
His dad bought the tractor many years ago from a farmer. When his dad stopped using it it ended up in a barn for 25 years. Two years ago he started it and it worked like a charm. That was not the case on this occasion. I spotted the tractor a few days ago now by the side of the road. The planned trip to the summerhouse out on the island had to be put on hold for a while. His son was on his way to help out. They only use the old tractor twice every year. To get the boat into and out of the water. Why it wasn't already on the island I do not know.

Ye olde tractor

Ye olde tractor
They have been harvesting hay at the Nödesta farm recently. They use modern machines most of the time, but I noticed this old Ferguson? out on a field. It is used to transport the hay. Figured this might be a fun Brenizer Method photo. It is 22 photos stitched together, shot with the 85mm lens at f/1.8. Almost looks a bit like a miniature tractor.

No Snow Plowing This Season

No Snow Plowing This Season

If and when it snows the snow plowing will be handled by the Stadsbyggnadsförvaltningens teknikavdelning. It would be fun to hear the non-Swedish readers of this blog pronouncing that! The snow plowers need between three and five centimeters of the white stuff before they can go to work. The de-icing of the roads will also involve salting and sanding, something I both like and dislike, as I usually will get a few flat tires on my bike every winter from the sand, which in reality is crushed stone. This winter the snow plowers haven't been very busy, although they have done some sanding. I shot this photo earlier in the week when it actually snowed for a few minutes.

Red & White

It's winter again

Snow removal

Red & White

We were expecting a lot of snow, (at least if you want to believe what you read in the evening papers), but this is all we got. Here are three photos from Tungelsta with a Red & White feel to them. Top photo show your favorite photo blogger at the commuter station zooming in on a traffic mirror. Then a tractor removing the snow from the walkway at the restaurant where I shot the A Moment in Time photo. And finally an apple tree at Hagavägen in Lida filled with red winter apples.

Spring is around the corner

Spring is here!

This was the scene in Västerhaninge yesterday. A farmer ploughing a field using his John Deere tractor. Must be some kind of record, normally this time of the year you should be able to ski over this field. Six months earlier I photographed the harvest here. Bigger photo.

Plowing a field

Tractor Babe

The farmer at Nedersta, or Nödesta is Jan Claesson. Here is one of his daughters ploughing a field in the John Deere tractor. The farm is 700 years old.

Fridhem

Fridhem

The first photo of three in this zooming sequence. The man in red is Utta. His family has lived here at Fridhem for many years.

Zooming in...

Looks like he has a tractor behind the garage.

Utta

A carriage filled with what looks like spruce branches. Utta is getting ready to drive away with his tractor at Tungelsta Road 116.
