Water coloring through a stencil

Hi friends - how are you doing? I'm doing great - in this odd space of working from home, but also in the office a few days each week. Our office is currently doing a rotational schedule, but my role falls outside of the rotation, so I'm there a bit more random. AND the best part is I am very isoldated where my desk is, so I feel pretty safe being there.

Anywho, a couple of months ago, Amber with Altenew posted a video of water coloring through a stencil; so I gave it a try. I wanted to make a card for a very dear friend going through a dark time. I used Simon's Bouquet of Roses stencil to try the same thing. Once I water colored through the stencil and removed it, I wasn't thrilled. I added some colored pencil which I liked on the flowers, but really disliked on the leaves, LOL - so hard to please! I added some drops of Mermaid Lagoon Distress Spray and set it aside to dry.

I cut a circle off the edge of Neenah 110 lb card stock and blended through the SSS extra large dot stencil with Broken China distress ink. I stamped the Penny Black Faith sentiment, breaking it up between the cover panel and the inside. Finished it off with several Studio Katia wedding bells sequins.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you are doing great!

Hugs,

For the Kids - LTSCB #136

Hi friends - how about these incredibly crazy times we live in!?! First, we had our daughter show symptoms of Covid (thankfully her results were negative); then we had a co-worker test positive late July (mad scramble to disinfect the office, notify  exposed team members, etc.); C-R-A-Z-Y!! 😟 I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy!!

This month at Love to Scrap we are creating For the Kids! I don't have littles any longer, BUT I think this card would be so sweet for a little to send to someone they love!! I love this girl from Penny Black, she makes me giggle! I colored the image with Copics then used scraps to paper piece her dress and sash. The sentiment is from a Verve Visual set (no longer available).

Thanks for popping in; hope you will join the fun and create something to share with us - we always love seeing your creations!!

Hugs,

MIUCB #40 - anything goes + embossing

This month at Mix It Up, we're doing anything goes, or add embossing.

I had a BLAST making these mixed media cards; I used the Big and Bold Sweet Friends Cupcake, cut it in half to make two cards. I colored the cupcake with Copics then added those adorable pink polka dots to the 'wrapper' of the cupcake. For the base card, I embossed in white a sentiment from The Greetery, Pretty Postmarks, then applied texture paste through Simon's large polka dot stencil. Once dry, I blended on Worn Lipstick, Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry and Festive Berries (you will notice one is more pink (picked rasperry), one is more red (festive berries)). I flicked on some Festive Berries or Picked Raspberry, accordingly, and white guache, added the cupcake and finished with some PPP clear droplets

Dalgona Coffee?

Hi friends - welcome back to Colour Crazy Challenge sponsored by Scrappers Delight and boy, did I pick a good one!! Have any of you seen the Dalgona coffee craze (I included a YouTube link for you); now they are making all sorts of whipped drinks.

I will say my daughter and I tried it and WERE NOT a fan; but maybe we need to change the ratio of products, we are not instant coffee drinkers, but I have a friend that LOVES all things coffee; hence today's creation!

I think this image from Scrappers Delight is so cute and I 'think' it might be designed as a boy BUT if you know me, you know I now have short spiky hair after having v-e-r-y long hair for years and years (about 20+ years). And during COVID, I allowed my daughter to add some pink to my hair - I added pink in the image but it's so light, it's rather washed out. Great reminder that contrast is a good thing! ;)

The little bag is filled with Folger single-serve instant coffee packets and I included the recipe for Dalgona Coffee on the back of the tag.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you will join us at Colour Crazy Challenge with anything goes as long as it includes coloring!

Take care, stay healthy and safe!

Colour Crazy Team - Fred She Said

Hi friends - I hope this note finds you doing well, staying safe & healthy!

Our weekly challenge is always "Anything Goes" as long as you include some coloring on your project; hope you'll play along, we enjoy seeing your creations!

This week we are featuring digital images from Fred She Said; I used the Poppies image. Sometimes I should study an image a bit more before coloring (more on that momentarily - LOL). It's another simple card colored with Copics and colored pencils. I stamped a sentiment from THIS set two times in the lower left-hand corner and one time in the upper right-hand corner BUT after adding shading, it's definitely difficult to see. Whoops! I also added this postmark stamp along with a leaf image 3 times in the middle of the postmark image.

I added some striped paper to the base card and mounted the panel on fun foam, I finished the card with some PPP marshmallow confetti sequins.

OK, things you should know...poppies come in ALL different colors; hence the variety on my card; BUT that flower in the lower left-hand corner? Yea, that's a bud, not an actual flower - oops! #howtoknowitshandmade :D

Thanks for popping in; hope you'll check out all the other creations at the Colour Crazy Challenge, then join the fun! See you again soon!!

MIUCB #36 - Fancy Fold

Hi friends - welcome back; so glad you are here!!

This month at Mix It Up, it's Anything Goes as always, BUT if you want to join in with the Fancy Fold challenge, we'd love to see your creations!

Let's be honest; we're friends, right? I am not good at fancy folds when it comes to cards; I'm not an engineer like Jennifer McGuire - LOL; and truth? I suck at math! So, I set about doing something a bit different for my fancy fold!

I colored up this gorgeous image from Gina K and Hero Arts, Friendship Blooms with some watercolors and finished with colored pencils. I fussy cut the image and added lots of splatters in white and black. I then cut the flowers diaganolly, folded over the ends of the image and hid the message below the flowers. I saw someone else do something similar recently and was definitely inspired! BUT...I needed a way for it to stay closed, so I added a heat embossed vellum belly band, sentiment from Altenew Simply the Best.

New manicure needed; dry cuticles from so much washing! ;)

I sponged on colors to both white pieces (outside / inside) to tie it all together. It's truly not a fancy fold, but I still thought it was unique and fun!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you join us for Mix It Up where it's Anything Goes or Fancy Fold!

LTSCB #132 - For The Girls (monochromatic scheme)

Hi friends!

Isn't it great we have this crafty network community that we can rely on during these really difficult times? Our county is under a stay order and we've had layoffs and furloughs at work, so it's been a very stressful time; but I have to admit, after the work day is done, it sure feels good to escape and do a bit of creating!

I hope you will join us over at Love to Scrap; it's a fun one 'for the girls'!

I recently purchased a couple images from Unity Stamps, this one is Hannah Girl - they have a lot of great images! I had saved on Pinterest a card colored very similarly to this one; I loved the various pinks, you can definitely say I CASEd the card!! I added colors with Copics and finished off with colored pencils. I used a stencil to add some interest to the background and glossy accents on the balloons.

Hope you can carve out some creative time and join us at Love to Scrap; we'd love to see your creations! Take care, stay healthy!

Colour Crazy Challenge - Polkadoodles

I am BEYOND thrilled to be joining the Colour Crazy Challenge; this is a gorup of super fun (and talented) individuals with LOTS of inspiration! Hope you will check out our challenges!

Our weekly challenge is always "Anything Goes" as long as you include some coloring on your project; hope you'll play along!

This week we are featuring digital images from Polkadoodles; I used the Winnie Celebrations Big Bunch; isn't this little girl the sweetest? I colored the image with Copics and colored pencils and kept the card very Clean and Simple (CAS). I die cut the image and mounted with fun foam, added some Pretty Pink Posh marshmallow confetti mix sequins and this beautiful sentiment from the Gina K / Hero Arts Friendship Blooms stamp set. If you look closely, you can see a sponged a design around the outer edge using TE Strawberry Milkshake ink and Ripples stencil.

Thanks for popping in; hope you'll check out all the other creations at the Colour Crazy Challenge, then join the fun! See you again soon!!

Reverse Confetti Butterfly Blossoms

Hi friends - hope you are doing well! Remember THIS card? I made this one at the same time in mint and teal; a pretty clean and simple (CAS) card. I colored the images with Copics and colored pencils. I used a piece of watercolor paper for the base layer and blended on Tumbled Glass, Cracked Pistachio, and a bit of Bundled Sage. The die is Watercolor Stripes from Altenew cut from Neenah 110 lb. white card stock.

I fnished the image off with lots of white dots and Nuvo drops on the flowers and card.

Pine Cones - pink!

Hi friends - how are you? Here's to a new week; I hope yours is great!

I mentioned last week how much I am loving The Greetery products. I made THIS card and during the same crafting session I made one with pink pine cones because WHY NOT? :D

The brown I used for the pink pine cones was probably a bit dark, but I still love it! Again, I used the Nordic dies in white card stock, embossing the sentiment in liquid platinum. The pink paper and ribbon was from my hoard, I mean stash. ;)

Thanks for popping in; hope you have a great day!!

Just for You - Nordic Style

Hi friends - how are you?

I have fallen hard for many of The Greetery products! LOL This one is no exception and I love when Betsy does videos of the products, she always has such great tips and tricks! Like adding the 'color' to these kraft pine cones - looks beautiful (IMHO). I used all the Nordic dies either on white card stock, kraft, or designer paper; I turned the smallest die sideways, embossing the sentiment in liquid platinum and giving me a perfect spot to add the pine cones, pine boughs and branch.

I splattered on some white paint and went a wee bit overboard, but I still love it. I also did these pine cones in pink because why not? I'll show that card soon.

Meanwhile, thanks for popping in; hope you have a great day!!

Snowy

Penny Black's Snowy has been my favorite snowman for years...and then they released a die and I'm still in love!

I enjoyed using distress oxide inks to blend a background and simply cut some snowbanks for little Snowy. The images were colored with Copics and colored pencils on watercolor paper. I stamped snowflakes in the background with Versamark then embossed greetings from Right at Home (Peace Love Joy).

I also splattered on some white paint and used a white gel pen to add decorations to the scarves, finished it off with some PPP Marshmallow Confetti Mix.

Such fun, colorful holiday cards!

Thanks for stopping by; have a GREAT week!
