Curtain Call + New Baby

I absolutely adore this challenge image over at the Curtain Call blog, but I'm all done with winter...tooo bad the weather doesn't seem to agree!! :-)

That's ok, I used the colors as a little inspiration for a new baby which entered this world January 6! The lady who has done my nails and pedicures for years welcomed her first child-a little baby girl, Emma. I love the soft neutral colors with a light pop of pink. Can't wait to deliver our gift!

All panels were stamped with MFT's Linen background in either MFT's neutral or VersaMark...I carried the same color scheme into the inside using pink as a shadow ink for the sentiment.

The 'sugar and spice' sentiment is from an older Cornish Heritage Farm set illustrated by Kim Hughes, Little Gal. The scallop die and inserts are from Verve, Rounded Scallop Frame, decorative edge is from Verve's Making a Statement stamp set. The little baby buggy is Verve's Treasured Words and is stamped in MFT's neutral, 2nd generation. I added Antique Linen Distress Ink to all the layers, tied on a big pink button added a big ole hemp bow and some fun delicate embellishments. Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a great week!!

Hugs,

Ice Cream Anyone? (SSS102)

Greetings friends - IT'S FRIDAY, go ahead, let me hear it WOOP, WOOP!!!  Or do you like the W@@T, W@@T better?  LOL

I'm happy the weekend is here!  But let's move right along; this week I soooo wanted to use the sketch from The Sweet Stop; great, great layut, thanks Korin!

I pulled together some new MME paper that reminded me of summer and wonderful ice cream - YUM!  My BFF LOVES chocolate mint, so the top scoop is for her.  The bottom scoop?  Well, it could be bubble gum, or something with cherries - I'm not sure.  But no, it's not my favorite flavor - mine is chocolate from Baskin Robbins; I'm pretty sure it's a scoop of heaven here on earth!  :D

This image from Kim Hughes' Little Gal stamp set is actually just an ice cream cone with one scoop; but I really needed two...you know, sometimes ice cream is JUST THAT GOOD!!  This stamp set was offered by CHF who is no longer in business, and I haven't been able to locate a picture of the actual ice cream cone for ya, so just use your imagination here!  :D

I stamped the image once masking off the cherry on top; then I stamped it again, this time only inking up the rounded portion of the ice cream and the cherry and stamped it on top of my first image.  Since these are rubber cling stamps; you can't see exactly where you are stamping, but it worked out great.  I used a Close to Cocoa SU! marker to finish in the bottom layer of ice cream (where the cherry would have been) and to connect the two scoops.  Voila, yummy 2 scoops of ice cream!

I colored the image with Copics; then stamped the butterfly from the same stamp set onto 2 different patterned papers and adhered them together just in the middle so the wings of the butterfly could move!  Added 3 chocolate pearls, edged everything in VersaMagic Jumbo Java and that's it!

Thanks for peeking in; hope you have a great weekend!

~ice cream and summer on the horizon!  ~M.

Billy - Repeat Impressions SOTW

Meet Billy - he's this week's Stamp of the Week at Repeat Impressions which means YOU can purchase him at 50% off! Visit The House That Stamps Built to see all the fabulous creations and find all the deets on the discount!

Seems like just about everybody created a "scene" with Billy. I had something totally different in mind, but it didn't work out - but I knew I wanted a "miss you" type card; so I decided to use the kite...reminds of when kids are little and they let something go and the wind takes it up...up...and away! Our youngest daughter 'accidentally' let our oldest daughters balloon go when they were very young - oh my, you would have thought the world was coming to an end - LOL!

Anywho, I stamped Billy on GKD's 120 lb. white paper and paper pieced his overalls and the kite. The rest was colored with Copics. I sponged in the sky and dirt.

I stamped the "Miss You Friend" directly onto the twill ribbon using Memento Rich Cocoa ink, added a button, some chocolate baker's twine and we're good...he's sad...but good!

:D

Thanks for looking; hope you have a GREAT week! Hugs, ~M.

Cuteasaurous Birthday

Hello dear friends, how was your 4th of July? We had absolutely nothing planned but ended up having a little gathering with our neighbors - LOTS of fireworks, a fire, vanilla ice cream with strawberries and blueberries, sweet tea and smores - YUM, YUM - what fun we had! We got home about midnight and then watched a great movie. What a fun, fun weekend. AND I've gotten plenty of crafting time so I'm a really happy camper!

A customer requested a b-day card for their nephew who turns 5 this month...I have a birthday too this month....I'm 5+ a few years.... HA!!!

Anyway, here's my little card for him; I love this little dinosaur - he's just adorable! The inside says "hey dude" and "happy birthday". The layout is Jen's SFYTT from last week; the papers are Quite Contrary and I used the cuttlebug Mosaic embossing folder. I also distressed all the edges.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great week! Hugs, ~M.

Birthday Butterfly & Softball

This is a card I made for the SCS Challenge #228; I so love the challenges! The base card is SU! White layered with SU! Rose Romance and DP by SU! (Sweet Always). I stamped the butterfly 3 times; once on the white card stock and twice onto the pink polka dot DP. I then cut the two butterflies from DP; adhered one flat, adhered the 2nd one with glue down the center of the butterfly so I could slightly lift the wings for a 3D effect.

All layers were sponged with SU! Close to Cocoa. The butterfly is from Kim Hughes' Little Gal stamp set - I really like her whimsical stamps!

The white bow is a double loop bow I made with my new Bow Easy - my first attempt. I think this will be a GREAT little tool, just need to find some time to use it!

OK, on to some personal 'schtuff'!

I finally got some pictures of our youngest daughter playing softball - I've got to get some more, particularly of her pitching! She pitched the entire game last night and did GREAT!! None of these are great pictures, but there will be more soon. I tried to take several of her at pitching camp, but only one of those turned out and it's still pretty blurry!

Thanks for popping in; have a great week! Hugs, ~M.

Ice Cream Anyone?

Yum - doesn't that sound dee-lish? My favorite is Baskin Robbins Chocolate...I know, you're thinking CHOCOLATE, out of ALL the flavors you choose Chocolate? Yes I do and it's the BEST!!! Love that stuff!

But you'll notice, I DIDN'T make a chocolate ice cream cone though!

I love this layout from SCS, #225; it's one I'll definitely use again. I like everything about the card but when I was adjusting the pictures I thought the butterfly looked a little too big - what do you think?

I edged everything in PTI's Fresh Snow; love how white it is. I stamped the ice cream cone 3 times, once on PTI's Kraft card stock and then twice on the DP; the 2nd layer of DP is popped up with dimensionals. Same thing with the cherry - I also added Crystal Effects to the cherry.

The butterfly is stamped on vellum in PTI's Pure Poppy, cut out and adhered to the Kraft panel. The inside says' Happy Birthday"; all the stamp images are from Kim Hughes Little Gal set. Such a great stamp set for girls!!

Thanks for stopping by; I hope you like my summer creation...ready for some ice cream? :D

Hugs, ~M.

Welcome Baby!

A couple of months ago, I was able to meet a new addition to a dear friend's family - a baby girl. She came to lunch with her mom, another friend and me...and yes, she slept through the entire lunch. Typical of a baby huh?
Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

She is so very cute, her hair was strawberry blonde and, to me, she looks just like her older sister. Our family bought them a gift certificate so I made a welcome baby card to put the certificate within.

Yes, those chocolate blobs are supposed to be there; they hide the first and last name of the child. :D

I used Justrite's Small Letter Set for the words around the circle; so very easy to do - but I have to admit, those letters are wee tiny!! The DP is from Kim Hughes' MochaChica paper from Cornish Heritage farms. I distressed the edges of the Chocolate Chip paper, added white polka dots to the scalloped circle and a large pink button to the center. The card is 3 x 3 and I love it!

We're all having lunch again this week, it'll be so great to see the little one and how she's grown!

Thanks for popping in; I love when stop by! Hugs, ~M.

Thank You - No Stamping Style

I made this card ages ago but never got around to posting it. The card contains no stamping - woot, woot; quick & easy! :D

All paper is from Kim Hughes' Mocha Chica Paper Collection from Cornish Heritage Farms. The light blue paper was embossed and then sanded lightly to bring out some of the white in the paper; the main image was layered onto SU! Chocolate Chip paper. I used the ticket corner punch and added dew drops in each corner.

Quick, easy, fun and simple - what's not to love?

Hope you're having a great week and thanks for popping in! Hugs, ~M.

hey dude

This little monster is from one of Kim Hughes sets, Little Guy; isn't he cute? :D

My dear, dear friend CW purchased the Basic Grey Granola 6x6 paper pack for me; I LOVE that pack of paper. I've got a few more things up my sleeve with this paper pack. I had used some of the paper on some other cards; but just had to use these crazy polka dots with my little monster friend. One of our DD's wanted me to make his teeth like purple or pink...like he was drinking Kool-Aid; that so made me laugh!

I stamped the hey dude next to my monster and traced the left side of the letters with a light blue Copic marker. I also colored my monster with Copics.

Here's the full card.

The base card is SU! More Mustard layered with SU! Night of Navy; the remaining papers are all Basic Grey Granola DP. I added the hemp on the left-hand side for some fun...no bow since it's a boy card.

The inside says "happy birthday". A quick, fun, but cute card. I hope you like it!

Thanks for popping in, hope you had a great weekend! Hugs, ~M.
