Acrylic Block Stamping - MIUCB

Hi friends!! Hope you are all doing well; staying safe and healthy!

This month at the Mix It Up Challenge Blog, we have a fun one - ACRYLIC BLOCK STAMPING or as always, Anything Goes.

I wanted to try something different - not sure I LOVE it - but that's all in the learning process, #amiright?

I actually stamped the rainbows with an acrylic block colored with Zig Clean Clear Brushes and spritzed with water. The first one is basically the normal shades of the rainbow; the second one, I turned those colors 90 degrees - just for fun!

Both rainbows are spritzed with sheer sparkle (hard to see in the photos); and both are placed upon an acrylic block stamped using Distress Oxide Ink. This rainbow release from Taylored Expression is the bomb, I haven't even tried half the components, but can't wait! I love the sentiments that are meant to curve along the rainbow, perfect!!

Thanks for stopping by; I really cannot wait to see your acrylic block stamping cards - I hope to glean some ideas from YOU!

Hugs,

Mix It Up with Watercolor

Greetings friends! We're back for another fun month - Anything Goes or Watercoloring! We sure hope you will join us at Mix It Up; we truly love seeing your creations!

I LOVE this XL Tiger Lily image from Power Poppy; it's prefect for watercoloring and although I don't have near the depth and variation I would like, it was still fun! I stamped the image off the page and embossed with white embossing powder; I also added a few leaves. The image was colored with Zig Real Brush markers. The sentiment (from Penny Black) was stamped in black VersaFine and embossed with clear embossing powder. Pretty darn clean and simple!

Truly, hope you take the time to join us this month!

See you again soon!

Hugs,

Zig watercoloring

Oh my, I do adore this massive succulent from Altenew (mega succulent) and to be completely honest? I colored it with Zig Clean Clear Brushes a L-O-N-G time ago but never finished it into a card!

I had a sweet friend having a birthday, she loves succulents, so voila, it finally made itself into a card...alright, alright, I helped make it into a card.

I used the amazing SSS This is the Life die to create the gold frame - but I swear, I can never do anything with shiny gold or silver card stock without getting smudges on it...I should have used tweezers to place it!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a GREAT week!

Sparkly Shaker Thanks

Hi friends - hope you are enjoying a great summer; ours has been very up and down, this past weekend was ALL DOWN. Here's a picture with a clear description of why it was such a difficult weekend; BUT I saw SSS is carrying a new stamp line: Colorado Craft Company, have you heard of them? I had not, but one set has this quote that was so touching to me today: "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. LOVE leaves a MEMORY no one can steal." - how awesome is THAT, gosh, I just love it!
Left home with a 35 lb. spitfire little girl knowing the outcome may not be what we hoped.
Returned with an empty collar and leash. #hearbroken

Anyway, let's move on to happier topics. :D Our youngest daughter recently had the opportunity to participate in a medical shadowing program in St. Cloud, MN - you shadow a different doctor every day; such a great experience. We know the doctor that leads the program, he helps students prepare as they are ready to start applying to medical school; she's not there yet, but never too soon to shadow doctors. She had a BLAST! She stayed with the head doc and his wife; they had talked on the phone a few times before she arrived telling her there were weekends they would be traveling so she would be home alone, well...that lasted - NEVER! She was quickly adopted into their family traveling every single weekend with them; even participating in their grandson's first birthday. LOL Needless to say, what an experience.

I wanted to be sure we sent them a special card. I also ordered cookies from: Heidi's Heavenly Cookies; our daughter had told me they really like sweets, having dessert with almost every meal; so the cookies were a huge hit!

The card uses Reverse Confetti THANKS cut combined with SSS Even More Spring Flowers. I watered colored the flowers then finished them off with Zig Clean Clear Brushes for more vibrant colors. I added Nuvo shimmer to all the flowers and the word THANKS after coloring ombre with Zigs.

The background uses the smooshing technique - THAT'S all kinds of official - of a few distress colors. Once dry, I stamped the IndigobBlu Honeycomb background with Versamark and dusted with Perfect Pearls. I flicked on some white paint then assembled the shaker card with some beautiful sequins - also adding a few to the outside and adding a dot of Nuvo crystals drops to each.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great week!

Valentine's Day - 4 months late?

UGH - I found a couple projects I made for Valentine's Day and never posted, so here ya go - we're going back in time to Valentine's Day! :D

I made two identical tags for gifts; using the Roses for You from Simon Says Stamp - one was colored brighter than the other both with Zig Clean Color brushes after white embossing the image. Designer paper (back side) is from Queen and Co.

Softer colors

I splattered on some paint and added a layer of vellum, stamped and embossed the sentiment before adhering the heart of flowers and the designer paper on the back side. Thank you for stopping by; have a great week! Gosh, 4 months later and I still love looking at these. :D

CELEBRATE - watercolor tea cup flowers

Hi friends!

I'm back with another card I finished several weeks ago - a water colored vintage tea cup filled with flowers. I absolutely love when Kelly does these types of cards; she makes amazing arrangements and she loves this tea cup! I enjoyed creating the arrangement, the flowers definitely came through darker than I was anticipating; I was also trying Kathy's recommendation of 'nooks and crannies' but definitely was a bit heavy handed. That's ok, it's all a learning process, right?

Once I finished coloring the tea cup; I used a Tim Holtz stencil and sponged on some Tattered Rose - it looks awesome IRL just hard to photograph. I also added some color to the background and allowed the colors from the leaves to run a bit. I used the MFT Radiating Sunshine stencil; layered the focal point with fun foam and added a strip of designer paper to the side.

TFL; hope you have a great week!

Hugs,

Faith, Hope and Love

Oh goodness, I continue to struggle with this nasty cough/congestion and I believe half the people in the world have the same thing. :( Lack of energy and just overall feeling rotten has really given me a run for my money!

Truth? I've taken naps during lunch time several times over the past few weeks. Brutal!

I started a bunch of cards in early January and I'm not sure I'll complete them in the SAME MONTH! But this one I finally did get around to finishing using Verve Visual's January sketch inspiration (see photo below), or see the sketch HERE.

I dabbed on some distress oxide inks directly to a rectangle stamp block, spritzed with water and pressed to the watercolor paper - such an easy way to get an ombre background. I used one of the newer mix and mat dies from PTI and then cut the entire piece out with a stitched rectangle die.

I stamped the flower from Verve Visual (Beautiful Things) and colored with Zig Clean Color Brushes and Copics, die cut some leaves from both Verve (Beautiful Flowers) and Hero Arts (You're So Lovely), added some seam binding and lots of designer paper from Queen and Co. and called it good!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great week!

JOY

Hi friends - I have a few more holiday cards to share...

This is the JOY die from SSS, it comes with the large JOY as well as a small cursive 'joy' which you will see a little later this week!

I didn't plan this card too well as when I finished, it was too large for a standard A2 envelope - HA; I'm forever doing things like that.

I sponged on the background then went scrounging for some designer paper that would match - kinda backwards, but it worked just fine! I spritzed the background with water and splattered on some white paint.

Once I die cut the letters from designer paper, I cut them several more times from black card stock and adhered all the layers together. I thought it would be fun to add some embossing - kinda like snow on the edges...see it or am I lost? :D

A white frame was added; the leaves and berries are from Hero Arts Holly Days set and leftover from Christmas 2016 - TRUTH!! I added a strip of black/white paper and silver glitter paper. The additional sentiment comes from Mama Elephant with the initial joy masked off.

Thanks for stopping by; hope your holiday season is full of JOY!

Hugs,

Christmas Tag V

I am back with the final Christmas tag in the group photo I posted HERE.

Each is just a little different!

For all the poinsettia tags, I did some combination of zig clean clear markers, Copics, and oxide inks on watercolor paper before stamping and die cutting the images. The leaves and were stamped on watercolor paper colored with oxide inks. I aded some white translucent paste to this one and a button to the center of the poinsettia. Some jingle bells and ribbon finish it off. Thanks for popping in to see my Christmas tags; these were part of a gift given to a dear, dear friend that I know will use them and just loves handmade things such as this!

MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIENDS!

I am back with the third Christmas tag in the group photo I posted HERE.

Each is just a little different!

For all the poinsettia tags, I did some combination of zig clean clear markers, Copics, and oxide inks on watercolor paper before stamping and die cutting the images. The leaves and berries on this one were stamped on Queen and Company designer paper, some shading was added with a grey Copic. I added a strip of acetate that has some brushstroke greens that match the leaves - hard to see in the photo!

Some jingle bells and ribbon finish it off. Stay tuned, next tag coming up soon!

Each is just a little different!

For all the poinsettia tags, I did some combination of zig clean clear markers and oxide inks on watercolor paper before stamping and die cutting the images. The leaves are purely oxide ink on watercolor paper shaded with a gray copic; I added some translucent texture paste to the upper and right hand side, sponged on some oxide ink beneath the flower, some jingle bells and ribbon finish it off. Oh goodness, another color combo from Color Throwdown that I LOVE (see graphic below)!! Goodness, a perfect winter wonderland combo...or for me? A blue poinsettia! :D Why not, right?

I embossed the Hero Arts image with silver tinsel embossing powder (think chunky) and colored with 4 Zig Clean Clear Brushes, super simple. I resisted the urge to splatter silver paint and instead kept it super clean and simple! The poinsettia is mounted with fun foam and I added a strip of a darker blue card stock to the top and bottom, and a strip of shiny silver card stock too. I mounted the focal point on a panel embossed with a Tim Holtz Alterations folder.

I stamped the sentiment on the inside with Spring Rain and Delicata silver.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great week...and for those in the US; HAPPY THANKSGIVING (get your stretchy pants on)!!

Hugs!

A Flower for You

My mojo has been missing for WEEKS - I haven't even WANTED to create. I've tried a few times but when nothing seemed to work, I just walked away and focused on other things...

This card has literally been in the works for 2 weeks - WOW! So many revisions, so many different directions but I was finally able to finish it last night. I had originally stamped the RAH watercolor background stripes and LOVED the stark black and white but I wanted to add a light gray - that's probably where it all went wrong first. :D

But I kept pushing, tried a 'red' flower, didn't like that, tried so many different things, but alas, I settled on this flower from WPlus9 colored with grays - and a black sharpie. I die cut the hello several times from red card stock; the last time I cut from half red/half silver. I die cut the circle and added some fun foam behind it for extra dimension.

Inside peek of flower/leaves stamped in gray

Thanks for stopping by; hope you are having a GREAT week!

Hugs!
