Baby Yoda at Kootenay Lake

Last week, Sylvia and I took Baby Yoda to Creston, British Columbia to enjoy some time in the forest. It was a brief but necessary respite from Alberta.

Another Destination for the Post-COVID Era

In Ticonderoga, New York, there exists a faithful recreation of the sets used to shoot the original Star Trek series. Now that I know this is a real thing in the world, I must of course experience it. Now I just need to decide if I should go by land (an 80-hour round trip), or just fly to Montreal and rent a car for the short drive to Ticonderoga . . .

A Plan for Pinawa

If it's ever safe to go outside again, I'd love to take a few days for a summer road trip to Pinawa Dam Provincial Heritage Park, the site of one of the first hydroelectric dams on the Prairies; it operated from 1906 to 1951, and judging by the photos on Google Maps, it's an impressive sight. The park itself looks quite bucolic.

Dune Thing

Washed ashore, this fine debris
Hard-shelled bounty from the sea
Found by Gilligan, first mate guy
Baked by Mary Ann into coconut cream pie

Beside the Rock

Hidden in plain sight
She stalks her prey
In the forest deep
(Pay no attention to the logging road)

Eyes Pried Shut

Ah, the golden age of photography, when everyone shot on film and you wouldn't know for days or weeks if your photos turned out. Here I am at the Golden Gate Bridge in 1998, where a kind person stopped to take my picture, sensing somehow I was a tourist. Sadly, I closed my eyes and ruined what would otherwise have been a perfectly decent vacation snap.
Fortunately, the fellow had me pose for another, better image.

Earl of Green Gables, Day 15: The Voyage Home

I used to love flying. And I still love the actual flying part. But airports...ugh.
Flyin' home again...sure looks like we're flyin' home again...
Gonna share my trip photos with my friends
That's what I'll do when we're home again

Earl of Green Gables, Day 14: The Penultimate Day

We bid a sad farewell to Charlottetown this day, with a sad dearth of photos of the quaint architecture. This apartment building was pretty striking, and  snapped a shot with my SLR, but most of my Charlottetown images are captured on my GoPro. I'll strip the footage for stills at a later date.
For this, our final night in Atlantic Canada, we stayed in the cheapest hotel at the Halifax airport we could find. The room was...old, but the restaurantès food was surprisingly good.
For example, this gingerbread cake was excellent.
