Angelfall by Susan Ee

Publisher’s summary: It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

My take: What the heck? Did all that just really happen? That is THE craziest ending EVER! Seriously…THAT was insane!

When I first started Angelfall, I sensed that it might be a really dark book because it seemed very grim. And, as I got further into the story, things just got insanely crazy. Angelfall is one of those types of books that make you wonder if you’ll have crazy dreams or even nightmares after reading. But even during the most insane moments…moments that should have had me totally freaking-out…Susan Ee had a way of writing them so they weren’t quite as disturbing as they could, and probably should, have been. I haven’t figured out how these brilliant authors are able to do that, but she did it brilliantly well.

The characters are very well done in this book. I really liked and admired the main character Penryn, and I pretty much grew attached to Raffe from the moment he was introduced. But it was Penryn’s mother who was the most fascinating. I want to know if she really is psycho, or if she really has demons controlling her. The things that woman does throughout the book are both disturbing and comical.

There’s not much more I want to say about Angelfall other than it’s a really small book and a very quick read, I would highly recommend it and I'm dying for the next book in the series.

Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins

Publisher’s summary: Embrace Your Destiny

Anna Whitt, daughter of a guardian angel and a fallen one, promised herself she'd never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She'd been naive to make such a claim. She'd been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school's party girl. And all the while there's Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of the Duke of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: Is loving someone worth risking your life?

My take: It’s about flippin’ time! I thought I might die if I had to wait another day to read this dang book! And gaaaah! It was so unbelievably good! I forgot how well Wendy can tease out all so many feels in her writing. *sigh* Obviously, I was not even a little bit disappointed with this book. In fact, I’m in love with this book, the characters and Wendy. Wendy, can you please come live with me so you can tell me bedtime stories? Or, you could just call at bedtime and then I’ll just fall asleep on the phone! I’m down with whatever! You tell me, I’ll be there. LOL

Anyways, enough about me; let’s talk about Sweet Peril. Right from the very first page, I was instantaneously sucked into the story and I was almost totally satisfied before I even got started! Well, actually, there’s an amazing scene that isn’t really on the very first page but its close enough and pretty much at the very beginning of the book that I’d say it “almost” totally satisfied my craving for this second book in Wendy’s Sweet Trilogy series. But, without a doubt, I was definitely fully satisfied by the end! And a heads up...this review is going to be heavily surrounding the characters because I think that is one of this book’s/series biggest strengths.

First thing I loved about this book is that we get to meet two new Nephilim in Sweet Peril! I loved learning about these new Nephilim, and I grew attached to them the moment they showed up on the pages. And then, near the end of the book, we’re introduced to this other young Nephilim from afar who had me totally freaking out! I’m thinking Wendy might have just introduced us to a whole new evil complication. I’m getting chills thinking about it right now.

For all you Kope fans, there’s a lot of him in this book, and I’m actually really happy with it. I can’t say that I would have liked it if I knew beforehand that he would be in the majority of this book, but I’m so happy now that he was. I think that in Sweet Evil I didn’t really allow myself the chance to get attached to his character too much, mainly because I thought of him too much as a complication. Yes, I think that, in a sense, he’s part of a love triangle…but not really. But in Sweet Peril I actually allowed myself to connect with him, and I just love that guy.

Then there are the twins! How can you not love those girls???!!! There are enough of them in this book that we get to love them even more and I really hope that they will be in the majority of the last book.

Last, but not least, there’s Kaidan! Kaidan, oh Kaidan! I love you!!! I’m not saying too much about him because it’s just too much of a spoiler, but…why oh why Kai are you a fictional character?

There is a lot of craziness in the end, and when I was finished with Sweet Peril I was absolutely thrilled with the entire book. I can say that my only negative feelings are that I now have to wait for the resolution. I’m thinking that this is a series I’ll read over and over again.

My Take: This book was more than amazing for more than a few reasons! I don’t think I can put into words exactly how awesome this book is…I just don’t think I can do it justice, not by a long shot! Normally I would wait till the end of my review to say whether or not I would recommend a book. But I need to say NOW, up front, that you need to pre-order this book…LIKE RIGHT NOW…even before you finish reading my review, dang it! In fact, even though I’ve already read Sweet Evil, I’m pre-ordering my finished copy today! And I’m going to stalk Wendy Higgins’ blog to wait for any updates on book signings…because I’m in major need of an autographed copy. And I have a feeling that I’ll be busting down doors to force this book on everyone I know.

I’m freaking obsessed with this book, in a very non-healthy way! The moment I picked up Sweet Evil I was immediately sucked in, so much so that I would get irritated whenever I needed to put the book down…for any reason! Normal stuff to survive was getting in the way of my precious moments with this dang book, like going to the restroom or sitting down to eat dinner with my family, or even when my husband asked if I’d watch a movie with him…and boy was I pissed off because the movie was awful and it kept me from reading Sweet Evil! So I think I was up until 4am, determined to finish it. It took all my will power to not skip to the end and find out how this book ends. And I’m so happy that I didn’t because I would be beating myself up now if I did.

I absolutely adore some of the multiple characters in this book! I loved how sweet, innocent, honest and pure Anna is. Normally I’d think that a main character that is "that good” would get on my nerves, but her virtue, mixed with her personality, was just the perfect combination. She can't even tell a lie for crying out loud! Anna rocks! And Patti, Anna’s adopted mother, is the very definition of the sweetest mother on earth. Jay, Anna’s best friend, is an all-around good guy who’d drop anything for Anna, and he needs her as much as she needs him. And even Anna’s dad is kick *ss! There are also these four Nephilim that come into the story later that I heart! And then there is Kaidan! Yummy!!! *drool* He is for sure up there with my all-time-favorite fictional boyfriends! Hello, he’s a drummer in a popular local band and he’s the son of the demon hmmmm you will have to read and find out! I really truly cannot pinpoint a single fictional character that I’m more attracted to! But just as much as I adore some of the characters, I’m just as horrified by some others…like the demons! And boy, are they sick, twisted and evil. Just thinking about them makes me cringe.

The romance in Sweet Evil is the very definition of the title! It is sweet, evil, hot, intense, heart melting and heart breaking. Even though the story between the insanely intense romance scenes was more than awesome and compelling, the whole time I could only think about, and crave for, more of those intense romance scenes! I’m surprised this book didn’t lead to a more adult book…because Wendy Higgins could totally pull it off. I’m glad she kept it YA because I don’t think I could’ve handled it.

Like I just said, not only is the romance amazing but the whole story is awesome! There were some crazy intense scenes and some majorly horrific moments too. Wendy Higgins didn’t hold back on how evil the demons could truly be. But it wasn’t just the moments with the demons that were horrific. Learning about what the demons actually expected of the Nephilim, and then living those expectations with Anna was equally horrific but at the same time awesomely intense…as I would sit at the edge of my seat with my eyes bugging out of my head. Yep! That good!!! There were more than enough crazy intense scenes throughout and right when you’d think that it couldn’t get any worse, it does.

It’s all over and I need more! Sweet Evil hasn’t even been released and I need book 2 right now! I think I’ll have to read this book over and over again to fill the void.

Here's a couple of teasers from the Uncorrected Proof of Sweet Evil.
Wowza.
He was smokin' hot. As in H-O-T-T hott. I'd never understood until that moment why girls insisted on adding an extra t. This guy was extra-t worthy.

"How's your orange juice, Ann? Does it have a touch of Lime?"
The glass paused at my lips as I processed his innuendo, and I took a second to make sure my embarrassment stayed hidden inside. I let the drink swish over my tongue a moment before swallowing and answering.
"Actually it's a little sour," I said, and he laughed.
"That's a shame." He picked up a green pear from his plate and bit into it, licking juice that dripped down his thumb. My cheeks warmed as I set down my glass.
"OK, now you're just being crude," I said.
He grinned with lazy satisfaction.
"I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm just enjoying my breakfast."

Photobucket
My Take: Holy crap! Wings of the Wicked is wickedly awesome! But the ending?... Was just plain torture! The moment I put the book down (at 12:45am), I immediately got on Twitter and made a point to say to Courtney Allison Moulton, “I just finished WotW! I have to say...that was mean; that was wrong; that was just plain wicked!!! You're killing me here!” I had more than enough emotions flowing and I wanted to make sure Courtney was FULLY aware! LoL!

Other than having an ending that killed me…one that will take probably a billion years to get over (or HOPEFULLY when I read the next book in the series! LOL!)…there is so many things that I could rave about from this book. There were a lot of extremely intense fight scenes throughout the whole book; there were several horrific tragedies; AND there were some AMAZING, heart-melting love scenes and a SUPER crazy twist. OH! And when the twist presented itself…that part of the book was outright CRAZY! So much happened in WotW that I cannot even fathom how Courtney was able to pull it off so brilliantly.

I really grew attached to a lot of characters in this book, but I’m utterly in love with Will! AND there are just so many multiple scenes in this book that made my heart melt, each one more than the one before! And then there’s Caden! Is it OK that I’m in love with 2 characters in one book?! Because, although I’m utterly in love with Will, in this book I feel like I can’t claim him because he is utterly and totally meant for Ellie! So…then it MUST be OK to be in love with 2 characters…because that means I can still have yummy Caden for myself! Right? Ahhhh!!! They are both so very hot!

And, even though I grew even more attached to several of the characters from Angelfire, I also grew very fond of the new characters introduced in Wings of the Wicked. Wow! Now that I think about it, it’s kinda funny…because even though I thought Angelfire was fabulously awesome, it doesn’t EVEN come close to how I feel about WotW because I absolutely LOVE and I'm totally obsessed with Wings of the Wicked! I can't wait to hear everyone else' thoughts, because I know a lot a people will be raving about this one.

Here's a couple quotes I thought I'd share with you all!

Suddenly I understood, and it was all very disturbing. This was not a love triangle I wanted to be caught up in. Perhaps love wasn't the right word-it was more like a pycho-demonic-reaper-obsession triangle.

I looked up to meet his gaze. The fiery opal flecks in his eyes danced and glimmered, like sunlight hitting newly fallen snow. I didn't understand how something so dark and wicked could create something so beautiful and kind.

Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton

Publisher’s Summary: First there are nightmares. Then come the memories. Now she must hunt.

Ellie can’t shake the terrifying dreams about monstrous creatures that are hunting her, killing her. Then she meets Will and feels on the verge of remembering something just beyond her grasp. His attention is intense and romantic, and Ellie feels like her soul has known him for centuries. When they meet on a dark street at midnight, Will awakens Ellie’s power, and she knows that she can fight the creatures that stalk her in the grim darkness. Will holds the key to Ellie’s memories, whole lifetimes of them, and she can no longer pretend anything was just a dream.

Her role is to hunt and kill the reapers that prey on human souls. In order to survive, she must also hunt for the secrets of her past lives, the dangerous and ancient battle of the angels and the Fallen, and truths that may be too frightening to remember.

Angelfire is achingly romantic, terrifying, and filled with blistering action.

Photobucket

My Take: If you are looking for a book with a kick butt heroine and a whole lot of heart-pumping action, then this is the book for you!

I’ve really wanted to read Angelfire for a while now, and I’m glad that I didn’t wait any longer because it was FABULOUS!

The story starts out with Ellie just trying to live and have a normal teenager’s life. Problem is, she’s tormented every night by horrific, VERY realistic nightmares, and her parents are really worried about her. They’ve even sent her to counseling because Ellie’s nightmares have caused major dysfunction in their home.

One day, when Ellie is at school she sees a boy who looks oddly familiar to her, and who is…ahem, *cough, cough*…TOTALLY HOT! Anyways, this TOTALLY HOT boy (Will) seems to be everywhere. And then one night, after her parents get into a huge fight (right after midnight and is now her birthday), Ellie wanders outside their home to get some fresh air and…surprise…she stumbles into HOT Will!

Will turns out to be Ellie’s HOT guardian angelic reaper, and he tells her that every time she dies, she’s reincarnated into a new human body. And each time she’s reincarnated, Will MUST always find her again in order to protect her. But why?! It’s because Ellie is a serious, kick-butt demon fighter, and she’s the only human who can produce the demonfire (out of two wicked swords) necessary to kill the demon reapers who prey on human souls! Doesn’t that rock?

And after reading this totally awesome book, I’m MORE than a little excited to pick up my copy of Wings of the Wicked because I think that’s going to rock too!

Hallowed by Cynthia Hand

Publisher's Summary: For months Clara Gardner trained to face the fire from her visions, but she wasn’t prepared for the choice she had to make that day. And in the aftermath, she discovered that nothing about being part angel is as straightforward as she thought.

Now, torn between her love for Tucker and her complicated feelings about the roles she and Christian seem destined to play in a world that is both dangerous and beautiful, Clara struggles with a shocking revelation: Someone she loves will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

In this compelling sequel to Unearthly, Cynthia Hand captures the joy of first love, the anguish of loss, and the confusion of becoming who you are.

Photobucket

My Take: I loved it! Loved it! Loved it!!! The direction this series took was picture-perfect! Hallowed was complete with, angelic magic, intensity, heart break…and of course the romance! Ahhhhh!!!

I really wanted to see where Hallowed would lead since Clara was unsuccessful at her purpose, so I was thrilled that I could pick up Hallowed the moment I finished Unearthly and find out exactly what transpired.

The tremendous amount of maturing that Clara did from the start of Unearthly to the end of Hallowed was amazing. She turned into such a strong, powerful heroine! Although I’ll admit, that at one point I was little irritated with her in Hallowed, I felt like she started to divulged way too many secrets to Tucker that were not her secrets to tell! She became a little too comfortable with honesty, that is until a few people set her straight.

Several questions that I wanted answered when I finished Unearthly were tied up nicely in Hallowed and I absolutely loved the end result. A few questions did linger in my mind. One of them being, what is up with Clara’s brother Jeffery? It seemed like he was up to something fishy at the end of Unearthly. He also stays pretty mysterious throughout the whole book of Hallowed. Also, would Clara's mom please answer all those questions she kept refusing to answer? And, I wanted to learn more about angel bloods and their purpose!

There are actually a lot of shocking revelations in Hallowed! So I got what I wanted and more! Yes, some new things were left open-ended, but don’t worry, Hallowed doesn’t have a crazy cliffhanger. I’ll have to admit, it would have been nice to have access to the next book in the series. Uh...like...right now!?!?!

Lastly, it’s time to talk about the one thing we all LOVE to talk about...The love triangle! I have completely shocked myself, because I think, I just "might" want Clara to be with Christian! I’ll admit, I still looooove Tucker, but Cynthia Hand did an amazing job in swaying me to the side of Team Christian. Well, to be completely honest, I’m TORN! I’ve loved Tucker since Unearthly, but Christian melted my heart in Hallowed! OH! And I had a little bit of a test in my head for Tucker…and he failed! I can’t wait to see what everyone else thinks!!!

Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

Publisher's Summary: In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .

Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.

Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.

As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

Photobucket

My Take: I completely and utterly love this book! I loved reading from the point-of-view of a protagonist that is, pretty much, stalking a human to fulfill her angelic purpose! It’s as if the roles are reversed from every other YA Paranormal book out there right now.

Clara is part angel; she has one purpose and one purpose only, to save a human from a forest fire. As soon as she has her first vision, her mom ups and moves the family to the location of this boy in Clara’s vision. One thing that bothered me about Clara was that, when she was stalking this boy, Christian, her method wasn’t so subtle. I wanted yell at her, “Come on Clara! Once someone tells you that it’s completely obvious that you can’t keep your eyes off of Christian…that’s when you stop doing it!” But Nooooo! She keeps on staring and the whole school thinks she’s a crazy, obsessive loser with the hots for the most popular boy in school. To make it even worse, HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND!!!

I’m undeniably in love with Tucker! He had me giggling every time he picked on Clara, kicking her chair, trying to call her out in class, go as far as calling her Carrots because of her ludicrously, and carroty dyed hair. I wanted to say to Clara, “Who cares about your stupid visions and purpose! Stop salivating over Christian and pay attention to Tucker! He is HOT, funny, and he actually SEES you!” Yeah, yeah, yeah…she kept having these crazy powerful visions with all sorts of sentiments toward Christian. But who cares? Forget him and turn those gapes in the direction of the hot cowboy! Yeah, I said it…I have the hots for a cowboy (surprise!). There are a lot of hot cowboys out there and Tucker is definitely one of them.

The entire book flowed perfectly and kept me entertained from start to finish. What I liked the most about Unearthly is how the story ends. It was EXACTLY the way a book should end! And I’ve already started Hallowed!

A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford

Publisher's Summary: Eden didn't expect Az.

Not his saunter down the beach toward her. Not his unbelievable pick-up line. Not the instant, undeniable connection. And not his wings.

Yeah.

So long, happily-ever-after.

Now trapped between life and death, cursed to spread chaos with her every touch, Eden could be the key in the eternal struggle between heaven and hell. All because she gave her heart to one of the Fallen, an angel cast out of heaven.

She may lose everything she ever had. She may be betrayed by those she loves most. But Eden will not be a pawn in anyone else's game. Her heart is her own.

And that's only the beginning of the end.

Photobucket

My Take: Doesn’t even that summary rock? That summary, in itself, should entice you into reading A Touch Mortal! I can honestly say that Leah Clifford is brilliant! But I think you have to have a twisted imagination to come up with a story this morbid! The whole concept that some humans who commit suicide end up becoming a Sider is, in itself, BIZARRE…no wait…it’s not just bizarre, it’s HORRIFIC! And I would really HATE to live eternally as a Sider! But I’m not going to go into detail about what a Sider is, so if you want to know, you will just have to read A Touch Mortal!

And I now know why several of my blogger friends have become obsessed with this series. While the end to A Touch Mortal has a slight cliff-hanger, it’s not so bad that I felt like I was left hanging. But at the same time I was immediately hungry for more of this bizarre…no wait…HORRIFIC story!

I fell in love with multiple characters in this book. I would have to say that Eden has to be (by far) my favorite character. I admire Eden for handling all the unbearable situations in the way that she does. She is very strong, extremely stubborn, has a smart mouth and she cusses like a sailor. But even though Eden may be very strong, she also has her flaws. Not all of her decisions are completely rational (from the point of view of someone seeing her decisions from the outskirts), but these flaws only make her character all the more real for me.

There’s another character who I really like as well, but one that might seem strange to others who’ve already read A Touch Mortal. YES, I actually really like Kristen! She is a very strange, unique character, and I was always entertained while reading the parts she was in, even though I was VERY unsure if I should trust her. I know, I know! It’s weird and it probably doesn’t make sense to you but it totally does to me.

When I was about a third of the way through the book, I chatted with a couple of my Twitter friends about how much I was loving this book, and my friend Jaime said she had the hots for Luke. I was shocked! Well…I do NOW have to admit that even though he is very, very bad and he IS the perfect villain, he is also pretty HOT! But don’t tell anyone I said that or I’ll deny it! LoL!

Near the end of A Touch Mortal there are several HUGE betrayals! There is one betrayal that I predicted early on, but the others TOTALLY caught me off guard. I was outright PISSED OFF!!! And there is something that happens that is completely and utterly heartbreaking. So I’m MORE than a little excited that I have access to the ARC of A Touch Morbid, and I will be starting it VERY soon!

A Beautiful Dark by Jocelyn Davies

Publisher's Summary: On the night of Skye’s seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites—like fire and ice—Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye’s life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move—only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.

In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can’t help falling for, and Devin, who she can’t stay away from, the consequences of Skye’s choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.

A Beautiful Dark is the first book in a captivating trilogy by debut author Jocelyn Davies.

Photobucket

My Take: Whoa! I seriously need to talk with someone about this book without spoiling it for anyone that hasn't read it. So if you have already read A Beautiful Dark, please come chat with me because I NEED to talk to someone about EVERYTHING. I think the ending to this book tops them all as the ultimate SUCK in all forms possible! I would say there is only one thing going good for poor Skye and I’m not quite sure if this one thing could ever be enough to make up for everything that has happened to her. That includes past and present.

When I first started reading A Beautiful Dark I was completely blind as to what type of fantasy elements were contained in this book. The only thing that was obvious was there were strange things happening to Skye, and two boys just come out of nowhere with major interest in her. We learn about what the boys are about midway through the book but I’m still unsure of what will become of Skye, or what Skye will be capable of. I am crossing my fingers and toes that she comes back as a hardcore heroine with a vengeance, with destruction and with chaos, and abolishes every being that has literally and completely destroyed her life!

While reading, I was unsure of whom I liked from the mysterious boys. One seemed to catch her attraction more than the other and the other seemed to balance her emotions. Asher is the super sexy bad boy and Devin is the majorly hot calm good boy. There were several moments that Asher seriously pissed me off and I was always questioning his motives. Devin seemed to be too big of a mystery but for the most part he was kind and gentle (as Skye would refer, he was Zen.) Up until the very end, I was still questioning myself over who of the two was the most deceptive. It is more than clear at the end of the book, and it left me seriously pissed off and thirsting for the next in this trilogy. Like right now! I don’t think I can wait!

A Beautiful Dark is available a week from tomorrow, so make sure you get yourself a copy! I will be getting my copy any day in the mail. Thanks to EpicReads! Yay! I don’t want to spoil this book for anyone but I’m dying to talk to someone about it, so once you have read it…come chat with me!

Photobucket

My Take: If any of you have chatted with Tiffany King on twitter, then I guarantee that you will agree with me that she is probably the sweetest person existing on twitter. But after I finished Forgotten Souls, I have come to the realization that Tiffany is capable of being mean because the ending to Forgotten Souls is outright cruel. I can almost hear the evil laugh coming out of that sweet Tiffany. But dang…she is a creative, compelling and fabulous writer! She has created a fantasy series not like any other series out there! Truly unique!

Forgotten Souls is the perfect sequel to Meant to Be. The majority of Meant to Be was primarily about 2 teen couples (Krista’s with Mark and Sam’s with Shawn) finding the one they are meant to be with for the rest of their lives. And it isn’t because they are just soul mates; they are Angels living as humans and have been paired up to complement each other. Their purpose is to go out and save the lost souls of people that have been hurt to avoid them from the temptation of The Dark One. In Meant to Be there was this fabulous, non-complicated romance that we find in a lot of teen romance books nowadays and then BAM we are hit with action. In Forgotten Souls they now know their purpose and they have found another couple just like them (Lynn's with Robert) and they know that there is one more couple out there. But Mark’s father is using the other couple for his evil purposes.

The three couples meet a hunk of an Archangel, Haniel, and he has come to them to teach them how to free lost souls. I was fascinated about the whole process and how this book had more craziness and action! There is a part in the book that I had my eyes bugging out of my head when Krista does something with her angelic powers to a few snobby girls from their school who have bullied Krista and Sam! It was freakin’ awesome! At about the middle of the book, the 3 couples plan a huge challenge to save a huge group of lost souls and it almost costs them their lives.

After all this fabulousness, their lives all take a turn for the worst. They know that they will soon have to face their worst enemy…Mark’s father (Satan’s little helper!) He has already done horrible things to both Krista and Mark and I couldn’t even imagine where this would lead.

The end of the book is majorly chaotic and action packed! And THEN…Tiffany rips my heart out, stomps on it to no repair and I sitting here thinking, “how will I ever recover from this ending?”

This was a relaxing, entertaining and easy read. So if you are looking for something to take your mind away from life, this is a series you should totally consider!

Meant to Be by Tiffany King

Author SummaryKrista Miller feels like she has lived her entire life in a glass box with her every emotion on display. She can’t help feeling like a defect as her sensitivities have made her socially inept and without any real friends; the one exception being the boy that visits her each night in her dreams.

Krista’s emotions are put to the test when a move to California triggers a devastating change to her fantasy world. The nightly comfort that the boy provides has now become a recurring nightmare as he is taken from her by an unseen force.
Struggling to appear normal, Krista enrolls in a new school and finds it to be nothing like she thought.  Her new life is sent spiraling out of control from a strange connection with a boy, Mark, who claims to know all her secrets.
As Krista begins to explore the emotions that Mark evokes in her, secrets from their past about their shared connection threatens to separate them just when they have found each other.

My Take: It was really refreshing reading a UF romance novel with that doesn’t include the complicated love triangle. While I was in La La land, I was completely blindsided by something I did not at all see coming and then it goes from being only a romance novel to high intensity!

As soon as I picked up Meant to Be I was immediately intrigued by Krista, the life she lived and what has become of herself. Krista’s whole life has been complicated. She was found abandoned at the age of 2, she is sensitive to others emotions enough to make her terribly ill AND every night she goes to bed and dreams about a boy. Her and the boy with out a face grow up together in her dream and the dream boy is Krista's main comfort. After Krista's dad dies, her and her mother decide to move to the same place she has always been drawn to. Santa Cruz. Krista’s dreams have taken a turn for the worst. Every night, her dream is cut short and her dream guy is pulled away from her. What is cause?

I can't say that Krista is my favorite character because there are several characters that I really grew attached to. I LOVE Sam, who doesn't love Mark and I hope that I get to read more about Shawn in the next book. Even though there is only a couple pages with Robert and Lynn, I already like Lynn and I am looking forward to reading more about them as well.

I am really looking forward to see what will happen now that they know who they are and what is they need to do!
