Dear Doug,

I am sending you an interesting historic record in the form
of a vintage postcard that shows a 1907 early view of the
Postal Savings Bank in Vienna, just one year after the
building completion. This edifice, an undisputed icon of
early modernism, is unique because of its simultaneous
sense of classicism and modernity.

292. Postal Saving Bank, Vienna

Dear Tanu,

The grand Kassenhalle is one of Otto Wagner's most
famous masterpieces and one of the finest examples of
Viennese architecture. Wagner was here able to
combine the vision of a new Postal Savings Bank with
that of a new and modern architecture.

Best regards.
R
