2155. Berlin, Nordische Botschaften am Tiergarten

Dear Angela,

The front building named "House of All" and
the general master plan for the Nordic Embassies
complex in Berlin were designed by Berger and
Parkkinen. However, each individual
building was designed by architectural teams
selected by national architecture competitions
in their countries: 3XN architects were
responsible for Denmark, PK Hönun for Iceland,
Snøhetta for Norway, Wingårdh Arkitektkontor
for Sweden, and Viiva Arkkitehtuuri Oy for
Finland.

Sincerely,
R

Dear Timo,

'Finnish architecture is always about roots but at

Dear Felix,

"The architecture of the Pavilion suggests
Dutch open-mindedness whilst referencing
stereotypes associated with the Dutch
landscape: tulips, windmills, and dykes"
(MVRDV)

Dear Sybi,

"Designing is a matter of concentration. You go
deep into what you want to do. It's about intensive
research, really" (Peter Zumthor)

Dear Louis,

"Architecture should grow from its site, responding to
the site’s physicality, layers of occupation, technology
and spirit. Each building should be a singular unique
event of its time and place." (Antoine Predock)

Dear Dan,

"To me, buildings can have a beautiful
silence that I associate with attributes
such as composure, self-evidence,
durability, presence, and integrity, and
with warmth and sensuousness as well;
a building that is being itself, being a
building, not representing anything, just
being." (Peter Zumthor)

Happy new year to you.

Dear Catarina,

"I don't understand light. It gives me the
feeling there's something beyond me,
something beyond all understanding,
And I am very glad, very grateful that
there is such a thing" (Peter Zumthor)

Dear Levy,

"...for me, right from the beginning the art of
