Hi Jeff,
I just happened upon your site during a genealogy search.
It’s a lovely site, full of information and possibilities.
Do you know where the name Grieve came from?
I was told by my Parents that we were the Scottish Lowland Bailiffs, a hated bunch apparently!

Do you agree with this or have you heard of another derivative.
Good luck with all that you do.
Regards,
Bob.

I googled "How do you note step children in a family tree" and yours came up second. I've printed off your "Key" on the tree -- thanks for letting me "borrow" your ideas. I, like you, want to note down different releationships in a family with alot of "yours, mine and our children, etc.
Jeff's reply: Thanks. Glad it helped. Most or all real family tree software will let you record multiple marriages, assigning the children to the correct pair of parents. Unfortunately they don't always show up as I like in the trees and some of the reports though.

Nice site.
World War II refutation:
The highest-ranking US Army officer killed in WW2 was Simon Bolivar Buckner, a full 4-star General, not Lesley J. McNair who was a 3-star Liuetenant-General. Moreover, Buckner really was killed by enemy action, not by "friendly fire". I was actually reading up on McNair and wandered into your site.
