Blog Birthday Giveaway #4- My Favorite Things

Good evening!!! So - this little blog is celebrating FIVE years this month - on October 20th!!! I can hardly believe it has been that long, and yet in some ways I don't remember not doing this. I have been SOOOO incredibly blessed by all the amazing people I have met through this hobby - and so incredibly lucky to work with some AMAZING products and companies. To celebrate I have lined up TONS of giveaways from some of these amazing places. HUGE thanks to each of them for their generous donations of prizes - I'm super excited to be able to share them with you!

Tonight I am so excited that My Favorite Things provided a $25 gift certificate for me to giveaway! Woohoo!!! They are right in the middle of the new release countdown, so this is perfect timing! I have been a fan of MFT for quite some time - I think I have one each of their dye inks and coordinating cardstock (although I see that there are more with this new release, so looks like I will be adding to my collection!); I also love their versatile dies, adorable stamps, lovely stencils, and wide assortment of fun embellishments and supplies! I had a great time early this year getting the chance to guest design for their Challenge and Inspiration Blog, headed up by none other than Susan Opel - beloved in the craft industry partly due to her previous role with Paper Crafts Magazine. Susan is such a cheerleader - it is so fun to join in with that community! And the challenges are always inspiring - I actually played with two of them for my card tonight!

I colored these little bears up and made this card on World Cardmaking Day - I wasn't expecting to have time to make a card since we went hiking as a family that morning, so when we got home in time for me to finish TWO cards - I was super happy! The other one I will be sharing soon - so stay tuned!

First up, I used the current Sketch Challenge:

I also combined it with the Color Challenge:

Had to play along another challenge as well - so linking this up with Virginia's View Challenge - All Things Colored:

I started off with the cute little bears from Birdie Brown's Birthday Bears - stamped and colored them and fussy cut them all out. Die cut the panels using Rectangle Cross Stitched Die-namics, then assembled my card with some foam adhesive and some Kraft cardstock. Added a bit of Glossy Accents and Wink of Stella to some places, and finished off with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins (carried in the MFT store conveniently!) in Cobalt and Silver Stars

You can see the Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents a little better in this photo:

You can enter the giveaway below using Rafflecopter - this is my first time using this method for a giveaway, but since I have so many to do this month I thought it might help make it easier! So - if there are any bumps along the way, please forgive me as I figure them out?

All giveaways will stay open until the 20th (the official birthday date!) and I will announce all winners that day! If you already follow on Pinterest, Youtube, or Facebook - feel free to leave your name for each day of giveaways, no need to be a new follower only!

Have a wonderful day - and good luck!

Sparkle and Shine - Birthday Wishes

Good morning! It's time for a new challenge over at the Sparkle and Shine Challenge Blog - this week we have another inspiration photo challenge, and a prize sponsored by Winnie and Walter!

This past Sunday was my nephew's 7th birthday party - and I didn't realize until that morning that I didn't have a single boy birthday card in my stash! So...when we got home from church, in addition to gathering everything else we needed to head over the party (make guacamole, pack up the other food, and feed the family a snack!) - I got this made and photographed. Talk about marathon crafting - I did all that in a little under an hour! Whew! It was fun when he opened it though, and someone asked him if it looked store bought or homemade...he looked at it and thought for a minute, then said "It looks boughten!" I'll just take it as a compliment! :)

Here is our inspiration photo - I even love the shade of green in this photo! I decided to just use the color green for my card:

I used Tim Holtz's Crazy Birds stamp set (had been too long since I had inked them up!) and a sentiment from MFT's Birthday Bears stamp set. I colored with Copics - with super quick and simple shading, then added some Pretty Pink Posh silver star sequins. Finished off with some American Crafts pattern paper!

Our amazing sponsor this time around is Winnie & Walter. The winner will receive:

I hope you will join in and play along! Looking forward to seeing your creations! Thanks for stopping by - have a wonderful day!!!

Musical Happy Birthday

Good morning! Dropping by again today with a card for a couple different challenges - another simple card for this one:

Linking up with a couple challenges, first of all the current CAS-ual Fridays - Musical:

Also linking this up as another entry in the MFT - Card Design Superstar Challenge:

I love how this card coordinates with even both of the challenge graphics! Completely accidental! :)

I used some Crate Paper for my background, tore the edges off a strip of white cardstock, then stamped my sentiment from My Favorite Things's LJD Celebrate You stamp set. Added a couple little notches on the sides with a hole punch to hold my Hemp Cord bow in place, then mounted with foam adhesive.

Thanks for dropping by! Have a great day!

Geometric HOORAY - It's Your Day!

Good evening! Lately I have been SOOO busy keeping up with Design Team assignments, new releases, and special orders - that it had suddenly been a long time since I sat down and played just for fun. With no imminently pressing deadlines, I decided today to just do that. It was SOOO incredibly refreshing! I think my creativity needed that very much! So I pulled out whatever I felt like using and played along with a few challenges - I actually finished 5 different cards, but will probably post them over the next few days. First up - as I was cleaning my desk, I happened upon this scrap of pattern paper from another project - and since I just LOVE it, I thought I would start with that!

I made this for a couple different challenges - first up, the new challenge at My Favorite Things headed up by none other than Susan Opel. Can't help but be reminded of the good old days with the bigger contests at Paper Crafts Connection - so you know I had to start here and play along! MFT Card Design Superstar:

I also have loved each and every one of the challenges at Virginia's View - and the current one is SOOOO fun! I hope to play along lots more with this one! Virginia's View Challenge - Geometric:

Finally, also playing along with this weeks Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Make it Colorful (that pattern paper just DOES it!):

I started with this angled piece of pattern paper, trimmed it to fit my card base (of soft gray SSS cardstock) then added a thin strip of black to it. My sentiment came from two different MFT sets - LJD Birthday Greetings and BB Birthday Bears. Notice the shine on the big "HOORAY"? I used a thin line applicator to add some Glossy Accents to make it pop. On the bottom I added a strip of torn vellum, some glittery washi tape, some black thread with sequins stars strung on, and a few enamel dots and pearls. Finished off with a rounded corner, and a few splatters of white Mister Huey's mist (only on the gray - what you see on the pattern paper is actually just part of the paper!)

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!

Sweetest Happy Birthday

Good morning! I'm excited today to be sharing a card with some of the very newly released MFT goodies! Since I am lucky enough to be the guest designer for this month at the MFT Challenge and Inspiration, I got a package with several items from this month's release early - I actually made this a few days ago, but I was waiting until the release was complete to share it! :)

I used the current Color Challenge color combo - the minute I saw it I thought of juicy summer popsicles!

I used the brand new release, You're the Sweetest, and the coordinating dies for my card. I die cut them out of the Daffodil, Tangy Orange, and Berrylicious cardstock, then inked them with the matching dye ink, and covered them with Mix-ables Sheer Shimmer using a paint brush. Added some scallops using Die-namics Stitched Scallop Edges and some score lines (that are really hard to see in the photos!) - as well as a bit of Hemp Cord.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day - I have another post coming in a bit with my peek at my card for this week's Sketch Challenge!

Lovely Birthday Wishes

Good morning! Popping in to share a quick card - playing along with a challenge a bit last minute!

The challenge is this weeks MFT Sketch Challenge:

I followed it semi-closely! I mirror imaged the sketch to the opposite side, and went a bit wonky on my angles - but nothing to crazy! I used some Crate Paper pattern paper and vellum, and machine stitching to hold it all together. Die cut a kraft paper oval with a Lil' Inker's Die, and heat embossed my sentiment from LJD Birthday Greetings in white. Added some jute twine, and a bunch of lovely Pretty Pink Posh sequins to finish it off!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Friend, I'm Always Here For You

Hello! Stopping by with a card for a couple of the challenges at the My Favorite Things Challenge and Inspiration Blog! Love when it works out perfectly to combine two different challenges!

First up, the sketch...(I interpreted it a bit loosely, but if you look, you can find the elements. There are 5 horizontal banners in the sketch, and I have 3 strips of cardstock under my die cut element, the word friend, and the stamped sentiment below - 5 horizontal elements, all clustered at the bottom where the banners are on the sketch!):

Next up, the Color Challenge - love this color combo!

I used MFT cardstock in each of the colors, and Die-namics Friend die to cut the negative, layering the other colors at an angle underneath. Added a couple rows of messy stitching just to set it off a little better. Tore the bottom edge, added an additional sentiment with White Pigment ink from LJD Words of Inspiration (I forgot to take a photo, but I also stamped the additional "Nothing is impossible with God" sentiment on the inside) Rounded a couple corners, added a Hemp Cord bow attached with staples to the top, and softened the edges with a little additional white ink sponged on. You might also be able to see, I also coordinated the inside by adding 3 strips of the cardstock on the bottom, and stamped the additional sentiment I mentioned above in kraft ink.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!!!

Great Friend Birthday Wishes

Good morning! Popping in today with a little card I put together for the current color challenge over at My Favorite Things Challenge and Inspiration Challenge Blog - I love the color combo this time around!

Here are the colors:

I was eyeing one of the sentiments from LJD Celebrate You, and thinking how it was almost shaped like a gift...then I looked at the bow on LJD Birthday Greetings, and it all came together! I stamped the words in Sno Cone, the bow in Cherry Crisp (stamped off once to soften it to match the softness of the blue a bit better), then did some die cutting and layering with Die-namics Stitched Scallop dies and Nightshift Blue cardstock. Added a bow with some Hemp Cord, and used foam adhesive between my layers before mounting on a woodgrain card base using Avery Elle cardstock from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!!!

Celebrate You!

Hello! Stopping by to share a card with you for the new sketch challenge on the My Favorite Things Challenge and Inspiration Challenge Blog:

Here is the lovely sketch this week:

I really wanted to use the Stitched Speech border die that is the free with $60 purchase this month - and that border of presents looked like it would be perfect in a wave! So...I used some Coral Crush cardstock, curved the gift line from LJD Celebrate You on my clear block, then heat embossed it in white. I added a double row of machine stitching, then sponged in some Sweet Tooth pigment ink to ground it. Next, I made my speech bubble at the top, then stamped my sentiment from the same stamp set using coordinating Coral Crush Die ink, wrapped some twine around, added a few enamel dots, then attached to my card base with foam adhesive.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!!!

Cupcake for your special day!

Good morning! Super excited that I was able to take some time to play along with the current MFT Sketch Challenge:

Here is this weeks sketch - I love how simple and versatile it is:

I used one of my favorite Pure Innocence images of all time, Hello Cupcake. I stamped her in Black Licorice Hybrid ink (my new FAVORITE for coloring with Copics - so nice and dark and crisp!) then colored her in with Copic markers. Fussy cut her out, then mounted with foam adhesive on a partial circle that I cut with a Lil' Inker's die. Added some Wink of Stella for sparkle, although as usual, it is hard to see in the photo! I used a trick I learned from another blogger once upon a time (although I don't remember where!) to heat emboss any color of ink you have. I inked up my sentiment from LJD Birthday Greetings using Versamark ink, then inked Ripe Raspberry Dye ink over the top before stamping on vellum, sprinkling with clear embossing powder, and heating. Gives kind of a clear and pretty embossed effect, and allowed me to stamp the color I wanted on vellum and have it stay put. Added some machine stitching around the outside and to hold on the circle and side of the vellum, then used a tiny dot of a glue pen to hold the other edge of the vellum in place on the other side of the circle, adding a bit of a bump in the middle for dimension. Finished off with a tiny strip of Bubble Gum card stock under my pattern paper from Crate Paper which was mounted with foam adhesive, and a sprinkling of sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Thanks for stopping by for a peek! Have a wonderful day!!!

God Understands Our Prayers...

Good morning! Nothing like waiting until the last minute, right? I realized this morning that I hadn't completed my card for the current MFT sketch challenge, and since I we were out late last night and I decided to let the girls sleep in a little bit, I put this together:

Here is the Sketch I was following:

I used lots of layers of American Crafts pattern paper, added some vellum to heat emboss my sentiment from Words of Inspiration. The border on the bottom was cut with half of a discontinued border Die-namic, and I added some Hemp Cord in a bow on the bottom. I followed the sketch pretty closely, but used the hemp cord and bow in place of the banner and circle element, and also skewed my elements a little for an artsy feel to go with that lovely floral paper.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!
