Spooky altered art Halloween Box

Hi Everyone, thank you so much for all your support and kind comments and emails about my hacked accounts. It's all sorted now but I have lost all my contacts...so if you are one of my friends I chat with, drop me an email...hard lesson learnt in backing up!!

It's all taken more time and energy than it deserves but now everything is back on track I will be catching up on visiting you.

I have a project to share with you which I absolutely love.It is the altered art I was talking about at the weekend. Before I show you I have to say that it isn't my original idea. The inspiration came from Richele Christensen. Do take a minute and have a look around her blog....just awesome.

I covered a couple of cardboard boxes with papers, inks and paint.
The main stars of the show are from the new Tim Holtz Halloween Strip.

The feet are bottle caps painted.

Of course I had to add my favourite enamel!!! Black and white....yes I know I am quite obsessed with it! LOL.

My moon was embossed with a halloween Tim Holtz folder...I just used the raven part and covered in glossy accents. I used Mini Monsters for the gravestone ..sanded and inked.
Glossy accents on tomb and wording.
I added spider web and then when I was making another candy tree with my silver glitter hot glue it gave me the idea for extra webbing. It looks really cool in real life.

I made a couple of little ones too as I know a couple of friends that will want one.

I couldn't get a good photo with it lit up(even at night).

These were so much fun to make. It was good to make all 3 at the same time as I'm not very patient waiting for things to dry (thank goodness for heat guns!!). So as I  finished distressing the last one,the first was good to go with the next stage.

I think these little trick or treaters could easily be adapted for carol singers...bet you can't guess where I'm going with that?!! HeeHee.

Thanks for calling by.

Back to School Blog Hop

Welcome to Jovan's Back to School blog hop.You should have arrived here from the super talented Amber's blog.

I loved school and was a bit of a girly swot! But back to school was always filled with trepidation until I got to know my new teachers and class mates. The one thing I absolutely loved was getting a new pencil case and stationery! And yep I still love pens and papers........lol!!!

I made a desk set for my son, Ossian. He is 10, so I kept it 'cool' (maybe!).

The empty caddy is from the 99p store and I painted it in cream acrylic paint. Then used mod podge to cover with ink distressed papers, followed by more inking over the box edges.

Made a notebook with my WRMK Cinch. Added ribbons, clips and eyelets. I used Graphically Speaking cricut cart for the sign on the book and for the magnetic paper clips. All cut at 2" and inked and embossed in places.

I covered a maths geoemtry set and die cut his name from Life's A Party at 0.75". He's not going to lose this at School!! lol.

My son has a magnetic message board so I thought the big clips would be perfect for attaching home work/ notes etc.
I covered a pencil and stapler in paper. The School Zone was glued to acetate and can be used as a bookmark.

Finally, I wanted to stamp a card. I do so much on my cricut these days, I had almost forgotten how much I enjoy stamping.

How cute is that little school boy? He is  Lili of the Valley stamp. I love how this turned out.

The papers throughout are Lime Twist by My Mind's Eye. Hardware on the card is by WRMK. Image coloured with Promarkers and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Ink used throughout.

Next stop on the hop is the lovely Adrian's blog. If you just happened  to drop in, do go to Jovan's at the beginning of the blog hop. She is hosting a challenge, so do make sure you enter for a chance to win some of her blog candy.

But just before you go, I have some blog candy to give away. I have a Back to School Girl and a Back to School Boy, Lili of the Valley stamp. All you have to do is be a follower and leave a comment for a chance to win. I will randomly draw a Girl stamp winner and a Boy stamp winner on Friday 19th August.

I am entering my desk set over at Whimsical Wednesdays - Back to School, no cards and at My Sheri Crafts - #66 Back to School. Also, I am entering my card over at Sir Stampalot - Anything Goes.

Finally, I want to say a huge Thanks to Jovan for inviting me to participate in my first blog hop and with such talented ladies.

Thanks so much for 'hopping' by, and hope you have a great weekend.
Hugs, Jayne x

Just in case you are a bit lost here's the 'hopping' order

Altered Mini Canvas

A friend of mine, who has had some pretty tough times but remains an amazing lady is moving to Devon. I wanted to make a 'little' something for her that was small enough to take with her as most of her things are going into storage for a while.
This little canvas represents Spring and new beginnings.Really hope she likes it.

Recipe
3x2" mini canvas painted cream
Antique Linen and Vintage Photo to distress, sprayed with heirloom gold Perfect Pearls Mist
The shading doesn't show well in the photos as far more pronounced in real life!(Probably my photography skills - or lack of them!) Lol.
Rock Candy distress stickles on lower part of canvas
Branch, bird and cage - Tim Holtz dies - grungeboard
Branch -vintage photo
Bird and cage, adirondack paints & gold krylon pen
Flower - tattered florals smallest flower - cut 3x out of white paper, inked with spun sugar, stamped with prima text and glimmer misted
Mini red flower button
Heart charm from old necklace

I am entering this into The Paper Variety challenge this week - to use a flower or flowers.Hope it meets their criteria as although it's a canvas, the flower is made from paper.
Thanks for stopping by.Enjoy the weekend.

Anniversary Configuration Box

Yesterday was my parents pearl wedding anniversary and so I decided to make them something special. They liked the configuration box I made with Tim (Holtz), so I decided to make a mini version and fill it with things that were special and relevant to them. Here it is, hope you like it to.

Bird Cage - take 2

I love making tags, and altered ones influenced by Tim Holtz are some of my favourites. Yesterday I shared with you a simple card using the bird cage die. Today, this tag is decorated very differently....

The bird and cage die is different as it is his new mover and shakers die.

Tag Recipe
Tag diecut, distress stained and then ink distressed.
Stamped in various colours with Stampers Anonymous stamps.
Tailor's dummy diecut, covered in twill and distress inked.
Ribbon tied with heart attached to it.
Bird cage diecut from grungeboard, painted, inked and edged with gold krylon pen.
Dummy stamped with Stampers Anonymous stamp  and red pin added.

The heart was from a sale necklace(full of them)! I do like a bargain embellishment! Lol!

Thanks for looking,if you have any questions about the tag feel free to ask.x

Inspiration Box!

Recently I bought some newly released stamps from Stampers Anonymous. I loved the sayings so much, they inspired me to create this box. Everything seemed to fit.........

Well would you? I have!
I have always enjoyed my craft but always wondered if my work was good enough to share with anyone other than my family and close friends, so now I'm taking the plunge and it will soon be time for the first of my workshops in Clanfield.

Let me show you the rest of this wooden box.

The opened box, showing front and back. On the front there is a Tim Holtz branch which represent the dark element for the fear and the white flower for the dream.

The back of the box.

The inside, where I've used the new mini rosette and bird cage dies from Tim Holtz. Behind it reads 'Love, Wish, Dream'.
The messages inside the box really do say it all for me.

Thanks for looking. Take care Jayne x

PaperArtsy Project

As promised, here is the project I made in the afternoon with Leandra and Lin. I do metal work on some of my projects but not normally in this way, really enjoyed trying something different.

The trees and roof are embossed metal, coloured with inks. The hinges for the doors are die cut grunge board, coloured to appear like metal.

I like the way it opens and closes. Looks great on my fireplace.

Tomorrow, I have my own special project to share......
until then x

Timmy!

Hi Everyone, hope you've all had a good weekend. Today I've been busy designing spring cards for the workshop we are holding on Thursday 31st March in Clanfield (interested? just drop me a quick email).

Recently, I was lucky enough to attend an Artyscraft Day run by Leandra from PaperArtsy and Lin Brown from LB Crafts. They managed to bring one of my favourite craft designers, all the way from the USA,Tim Holtz.

The day started with a 4 hour class with Tim, Tim and  did I mention Tim? (you get the picture!!) Loved it!!!
The project we made was a configuration box, this is mine........

Tomorrow I will share the altered art project from the class in the afternoon with Lin and Leandra.
There will be some of my own designs coming up in the next few days.

Take care x
