Spooky altered art Halloween Box

Hi Everyone, thank you so much for all your support and kind comments and emails about my hacked accounts. It's all sorted now but I have lost all my contacts...so if you are one of my friends I chat with, drop me an email...hard lesson learnt in backing up!!

It's all taken more time and energy than it deserves but now everything is back on track I will be catching up on visiting you.

I have a project to share with you which I absolutely love.It is the altered art I was talking about at the weekend. Before I show you I have to say that it isn't my original idea. The inspiration came from Richele Christensen. Do take a minute and have a look around her blog....just awesome.

I covered a couple of cardboard boxes with papers, inks and paint.
The main stars of the show are from the new Tim Holtz Halloween Strip.

The feet are bottle caps painted.

Of course I had to add my favourite enamel!!! Black and white....yes I know I am quite obsessed with it! LOL.

My moon was embossed with a halloween Tim Holtz folder...I just used the raven part and covered in glossy accents. I used Mini Monsters for the gravestone ..sanded and inked.
Glossy accents on tomb and wording.
I added spider web and then when I was making another candy tree with my silver glitter hot glue it gave me the idea for extra webbing. It looks really cool in real life.

I made a couple of little ones too as I know a couple of friends that will want one.

I couldn't get a good photo with it lit up(even at night).

These were so much fun to make. It was good to make all 3 at the same time as I'm not very patient waiting for things to dry (thank goodness for heat guns!!). So as I  finished distressing the last one,the first was good to go with the next stage.

I think these little trick or treaters could easily be adapted for carol singers...bet you can't guess where I'm going with that?!! HeeHee.

Thanks for calling by.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2012 - September

Hello Friends, hope you are having a great week...it's flying already.

Last week I got my mini bluprint stamps and used them to play in the
12 Tags of 2012. Love these stamps!

I have been trying to get a better photo of this tag and struggled. So in the end I decided to post this photo anyway or it will be October!!! LOL.

Loved the way the meatlwork showed up but thought something was wrong with it......
My metal snowflake had fallen off!!

I made my faux riveted tag and decided to make it 'the earth'.

To see Tim's tag and all the other entries click on the link above.
Off to secure with glossy accents!!
Thanks for looking.

M.T. Tomb!!

Hi and Happy Monday. Did you have a good weekend? My son was away at a school activity camp last week and Hubby and I had a few evenings out! I was also busy crafting...just can't share them with you quite yet!!

School hols this week and lots happening but I wanted to make a card for a couple of challenges.
Over at BBTB2 they have a purple cricut challenge sponsored by Crafty Sprouts(such a fab name!). Last week I ordered Flower Shoppe (I finally succombed) but it still hasn't arrived and I wanted to make a purple flower monster. So I came up with this instead...

So, it's kinda different from a purple flower monster but I like it!!

Recipe
Mini Monsters - card cut at 4",embossed with a Tim Holtz halloween embossing folder, sanded, inked and glimmer misted.
Happy Hauntings - M T Tomb cut at 4"
PDDU -mummy and skeleton
Tim Holtz ticket and halloween stamp
Lots of inking,3d foam and glossy accents

Karen is also having a Halloween challenge over at Little Scrap Pieces and I am going to enter this there too. Do check out her amazing designs.

Have a great week. Thanks for stopping by.

Fall Wreath

Hi Everyone,Happy Monday, hope you had a rockin' weekend! Managed an hour in my craft room today....where does time go?!
Over at My Craft Spot this week's challenge is to use Fall Leaves. I haven't used my Vagabond in a while so pulled out Tim Holtz's tattered leaves die and got busy inking and glimmer misting lots of leaves.
I added a sentiment from My Creative Time on the stitched circle and scallop die.

I love how this turned out. I cut a circle from around a plate to stick all the leaves to.

I struggled with light to get a good picture of the inking and gold glimmer misting!

Just want to welcome my new followers and thank everyone for their lovely comments. I was blown away by your comments on my reindeer box, thank you so much.

Friends

Hi,Happy Thursday. Hope you are having a wonderful week. School started yesterday and my work hours go back to normal but should manage to get some crafting in now.
Yesterday I met up with my very good friend,Kate. We haven't managed to see each other during the 6 week school hols. The rest of the year we spend alot of time together so we arranged to meet up for lunch.
I had a little gift from one of our mini trips away(Kate is a massive cupcake fan), and decided to make a quick box to give it to her in. Thought I would share this with you.

I must apologise for the picture as I (and I still don't know how) deleted the better picture of this little box on it's own!
Anyone that read my candle post will know how little I use my gypsy. Well the other thing that looks at me when I'm crafting is my Imagine. Unfortunately it's too big to hide in a drawer! Lol.
I was undecided whether I wanted one of these and over time saw fabulous creations with it and when it was on offer I took the plunge. It arrived just before school hols so haven't had much opportunity to play with it but I must have a real go. For me,I like adding the detail to my work and the Imagine feels pretty well done...I think this is my difficulty to overcome.
I digress as I thought I would cut the best friends and butterfly from it. (I still inked my images though!)

I cut the box at 4.75" from Sweet Tooth Boxes using Tim Holtz Kraft Resist card. Beautiful butterfly images.... so I thought,it turns out they are moths!

I don't think I could get it to cut like that again if I wanted too! I  assembled my best friend image on 3d foam and instead of sticking to the house it slides over the tab! Had to include the 3 bears I picked up as it reminded me of goldilocks. Enough of my ramblings!
I am entering this over at My Craft Spot - make a project for a friend.

I'd just like to thank Judy from http://craftyjar.blogspot.com/ for thinking of me and awarding me The Butterfly Award. Judy makes beautiful projects and so do visit her amazing blog.

Thrilled that my Falling for You card won over at BBTB2 and made top 5 at FCCB.

Can you tell I haven't posted much for a while?!

Have a fab day.

Congrats

Hi,hope you had a great weekend. It's a holiday weekend here in the UK.I managed some time in my craft room this morning and made a few cards. The rest of the week is looking busy so I will share them with you during the week.
Hannah,my lovely dental assistant got engaged to her sweetheart, Jon, last week,so I wanted to make her a special engagement card. They are a young and trendy couple so wanted something simple and chic.
Last week's challenge over at Whimsical Wednesdays was 3x a Charm. You are to use 3 colours,3 cuts and 3 embellishments.

I used red, brown and black as my colours. I used Life's a Party for the heart card at 4" and the heart mat. My 3rd cut was Congrats at 7" from Wild card.
I made 3 flowers using my Tim Holtz tattered florals die as my embellishments and 3 'diamond' stones as centres. They are set like jewellery and are absolutely beautiful.

I like how this turned out.

Congratulations Hannah and Jon.
Thanks for looking.

Sunflower Friend

Hello and happy thursday. How fast has this week flown? Just want to welcome my new followers and take the opportunity to thank each and every follower for making blogging so fun, your comments really lift my day especially when I'm working and can't get to craft!!

I made a quick and simple card today to enter in a couple of challenges. I am away for the next few days so wanted to have something to share with all my lovely friends!

Fantabulous Cricut - Let's be Friends
My Craft Spot - You make me smile
The Kraft Journal - Walk in my Garden

Family and friends are the sunshine of life and I think sunflowers represent sunshine, (stay with me!), so hence a sunflower cut at 3"  from Stretch Your Imagination and a Hero Arts 'friends' stamp stamped in the middle and surrounded by brown micro beads seemed appropriate for both challenges.
Tim Holtz kraft stash  and vintage photo inking. Flower popped on 3d foam. Clear epoxy dome over sentiment.

Have a great rest of the week, see you Sunday.

Vagabond

Hi,how's your week going? At the weekend I was a very lucky girl as Hubby bought me a Vagabond! When I was lucky enough to take a class with Tim Holtz back in February I saw this demonstrated. It really does make cutting grungeboard and chipboard a doddle. Here is a tag I made.
If you want to see what I made with Sir Tim,look under configuration box!
Thanks for calling by. Jayne x

Canvas

Hi Everyone, hope you are having a good Wednesday. This weather here is still amazing! Over at The Paper Variety they are having a 'Let's get Messy' challenge to use mists, inks or paints.I love using my cricut but altered art and inking are some of my personal favourites. So I am the proud owner of filthy inky hands and this is what I came up with..
Anyone who follows my blog will know I have made mini canvses with Tim Holtz's bird cage die and tags with the sewing dummy, but this is  a much bigger canvas for me.This has been upcycled from a previous attempt which has sat at the back of my cupboard for years! It measures 5x5" which compared to my usual 3x2" is huge for me.Lol!

The previous picture was of green hills and houses so I needed to apply 2 layers of cream acrylic paint.I applied it with an old cosmetic sponge thickly for texture and used my heat gun to dry every layer of paint and ink I applied...yes I really am that impatient!
I applied sweeps of Tim Holtz's distress stain in broken china randomly over the canvas.(Everything except cream paint, heart and pin is Ranger or Tim).I then added dashes of  cloudy blue Adirondack acrylic dabber directly to the canvas and blended.

All sides were edged with vintage photo distress ink.I then used various Stampers Anonymous stamps and used black adirondack, fired brick and weathered wood distress inks to apply them directly to the canvas. The advantage of the big canvas was that I could run my fingers over the stamp from the inside to get a good image.Distress ink smudges easily at this stage and took a lot of heat gun drying!

Sewing die inked with vintage photo and walnut stain, thick calico cut, stamped, inked and added with a ribbon and heart,
Bird and cage die cut out of grungeboard(I love this stuff).Distress stained, lake mist, willow, aqua and cloudy blue adirondack dabbers to try and make cage slightly verdi gris.Edged with gold krylon.
Medium and mini rosette die cut and inked.
As always I love dimension and used strong glue on 3d foam to attach dummy and cage.
Ribbon was distress inked before tying on dummy.

I am entering this atGetting Cricky - sew fabulous.A very inspirational site.
I am really pleased with how this turned out and am going to display this in my living room. Thanks for looking.Hugs,Jayne x

Altered Mini Canvas

A friend of mine, who has had some pretty tough times but remains an amazing lady is moving to Devon. I wanted to make a 'little' something for her that was small enough to take with her as most of her things are going into storage for a while.
This little canvas represents Spring and new beginnings.Really hope she likes it.

Recipe
3x2" mini canvas painted cream
Antique Linen and Vintage Photo to distress, sprayed with heirloom gold Perfect Pearls Mist
The shading doesn't show well in the photos as far more pronounced in real life!(Probably my photography skills - or lack of them!) Lol.
Rock Candy distress stickles on lower part of canvas
Branch, bird and cage - Tim Holtz dies - grungeboard
Branch -vintage photo
Bird and cage, adirondack paints & gold krylon pen
Flower - tattered florals smallest flower - cut 3x out of white paper, inked with spun sugar, stamped with prima text and glimmer misted
Mini red flower button
Heart charm from old necklace

I am entering this into The Paper Variety challenge this week - to use a flower or flowers.Hope it meets their criteria as although it's a canvas, the flower is made from paper.
Thanks for stopping by.Enjoy the weekend.

Anniversary Configuration Box

Yesterday was my parents pearl wedding anniversary and so I decided to make them something special. They liked the configuration box I made with Tim (Holtz), so I decided to make a mini version and fill it with things that were special and relevant to them. Here it is, hope you like it to.
