This is the 1st motorcycle to sell for over a million dollars

Sold from the collection of the late and delightfully eccentric Urban Hirsch, one crazy lucky guy, who, though he grew up poor, hung out as a kid at Bud Ekins shop.

He became fabulously wealthy by securing printing ink contracts when newsprint was just killing it.

89 Ford Mustang GT with just 987 miles showing on the odometer is finally up for sale, current bid 32k

It remained in the possession of its original owner for 18 years, followed by 17 years with its second owner, and was more recently purchased by the selling dealer in 2024.

One single, mysterious person using the nickname Halfelven, has bought $5 million dollars of various Ford vehicles over the past few years

a total of 62 Ford vehicles,  37 Broncos, along with 15 F-150 Lightnings, and others such as a Ford RS, a Ford Super Duty, and a Maverick.

On top of that, each winning bid also ends in the two digit model year of the vehicle, humorously enough.

The buyer – who goes by the user name Halfelven on both sites – has also purchased some vehicles from other brands, but Blue Oval models are clearly their focus.

the stars and stripes Captain America helmet worn by Peter Fonda during the movie was up for auction recently... it was taken from the movie set in 1969 by the film's Assistant Director and has been part of his collection ever since

the paint wasn't meant to last longer than the movie production and so the fragile material flakes when handled. So much of the original paint has flaked off that it looks awful, and it failed to get a single bid over the minimum bid of $25,000.

The distinctive flight helmet worn by Tom Cruise as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the 1986 movie "Top Gun" sold for $406,250 in 2021

The most expensive movie helmet ever sold was Darth Vader's mask and helmet from "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)" which fetched USD $1,152,000 in September 2019

but the record for most expensive headware at auction, is now the Wizard of Oz witch of the East hat, it sold for USD $2,930,000 two weeks ago in December 2024

more than 100 cars from the Academy of Art University Collection in San Francisco (how is that not the entire collection?) are getting auctioned off in Feb 2025 (thanks George! )

I posted about the university collection in 2015, because the university had a program based on the collection, for Automotive Restoration
https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2015/11/academy-of-art-university-in-san.html

I'm guessing that without this collection, the university has cancelled that program. Probably not a lot of students in San Francisco signing up to pay to learn automotive restoration on 100 year old cars. Probably. I could be wrong, but, if I'm wrong, then why is the university selling it's car collection?

Unusual connection between this university and Jaguar, Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum reviewed the work of the restoration students, who spent their summer semester designing and creating concepts for year 2030 Jaguar automobile interior designs. The Academy was one of the two universities Jaguar selected for corporate sponsorship in America.

Bernie Ecclestone is selling 69 Grand Prix and F1 cars from his private collection

Ferraris raced by legendary drivers such as Mike Hawthorn, Niki Lauda and Michael Schumacher, while Brabham, the marque that helped catapult Ecclestone to the top, is well represented, too. Many of the Brabhams have never previously been sold and for many the star car will be the one-off Gordon Murray designed Brabham-Alfa Romeo BT46B ‘fan car’, which raced only once, victoriously, to win the Swedish Grand Prix at Anderstorp in 1978 by more than half a minute.

Cars being offered include everything from Maserati 250F and ex-Chiron 4/CLT plus a brace of 6CMs to Lancia-Ferrari D50 replica and 1931 Bugatti Type 54 ‘Tiger Two’, one of only three survivors, plus two (!) Talbot Lago T26Cs, a significant Delahaye and Connaught.

Ken Block's Gymkhana #9 Focus RS RX is up for sale

It’s one of just three examples of Focus four-door Rallycross race cars built by the folks at M-Sport, and is arguably the most recognizable machine out of Block’s stable.
