Quirky Challenge #2 - Rainbow Bright!

Welcome to the second Quirky challenge of 2013! Please check the post below this to see if you were a winner from the last challenge.  It is my (Caro's) turn to set the challenge this week.
On our traditional Christmas Day walk we saw the most beautiful rainbow in the sky over the very swollen River Tone, and as I love the brightness and beauty of a rainbow I decided it would make a good challenge theme, which I have titled:
RAINBOW BRIGHT
The challenge is to either use all the colours of the rainbow (Red, Orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet) on your creation or to use an actual rainbow image. As usual we welcome any form of crafting so let your imaginations run wild.

We have two wonderful sponsors this week so our first prize winner (as chosen by the design team) will win an $8 voucher from Stitchy Bear digital stamps.

Our second prize winner will win a $5 voucher from Digital Delights

And our third prize winner will win a $2 voucher from Stitchy Bear digital stamps.

So without ado here are the GDT and DT examples for the rainbow bright challenge, all using stamps from Stitchy Bear digital stamps, to inspire you.

Guest Designer Sonia
Sonia used her own stamp by Unity Stamps to make this adorable card.

Doris used Butterfly Love who has rainbow wings and there are lots of rainbows and rainbow colours on her gorgeous card. Doris is at the CHA, lucky Doris! If you are there say Hello, or should it be Hola Doris!

I used the 'I'm so busy' and 'stained glass snail' stamps from Stitchy Bear on this very quirky mixed media poster for my whimsical reading challenge. I also used a mountain of materials to add the rainbow colours including acrylic paint, pencil crayons, cd markers, gel pens and collage paper. Check out my blog for more information.

I've used this cute little picnic bear by Stitchy along with some freebie rainbow backing papers (link on Blog) I couldn't make up my mind which papers to use, so I've cheated a bit with my second card...The little bear's been 3D-ed and coloured with ProMarkers

I used Strawberry House, Garden Gate and Stained Glass Snail together to make this little scene. I added a rainbow and sentiment from a Hero Arts set called Sky's the Limit, the sentiment reads "Wishing you rainbows" which is stamped in rainbow ink. I don't know who makes the larger rainbow, I have the packaging but no clues. All images coloured with Promarkers and Trias, rainbow ribbon from WH Smiths, buttons from stash. Paper by DCWV,

and here is my second make, a bit late, nobody noticed did they? I used Artsy Flower which reminds me of the doodles I used to do on my school rough books a long time ago! I coloured the flower with Promarkers and Trias and cut it with Nestabilties then added a few gems. The greeting is by Elybells, and I stamped it with Peacock Brilliance and heat embossed, then a bit of baker's twine and I was finished!

I used stained glass snail to make a brightly coloured birthday card for my nephew who is 3 next week!  I coloured the snail with every colour of the rainbow then layered it onto red, orange, yellow, green and finally blue card before adding the stickers (party hat, blower, cake with 3 candles, and balloon), and peel offs.

Some Thing New...With Pink!! 1st Quirky Challenege of 2013!

Evening Quirky Fans! Welcome back! First, we at Quirky Crafts hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and Festive Holidays and we wish you all a very Happy New Year! May this one be the best one ever! The first challenge of the year is set by me (Lyn aka Spyder) so, because my new baby grand daughter was born last weekend, I've decided the theme for this first challenge just has to be...
Some Thing New, with Pink!
Of course I don't mind how you interpretative the challenge, it can be a new home, new job, a new baby, using some of your new Christmas stash, or even a New Years card! But there has to be PINK somewhere on the card, loads of pink, or just a smidgen (small amount not a small pigeon lol), it's up to you! Don't forget, you can make anything you like, it doesn't have to be a card, we love to see altered art, inchies, tags, fatpages, atc's and scrapbook pages too!
You must tell us what your "NEW" part is, it might not be obvious to the team and you could lose out on a top three place if we don't know!
For our first Challenge of 2013 we have three fabulous sponsors....
1st prize $10 to spend at Doodle Dragon

2nd prize 7 digi's of your choice from Bugaboo Stamps
   and

Robyn's Fetish
3rd prize 3 digi from the Robin Fetish store.

So here's what the team and our guest designers have come up with using digital images from our lovely sponsors...
First, Our Guests....

Abigael made this gorgeous easel cards using Shopping for Two with such a sweet crocheted layette. Who wouldn't love to get this card!

Sheena used Bugaboo Just Married for her delightfully festive card. Sheena would have joined us as guest much earlier in the year but unfortunately was involved in a bad car accident and wasn't able to, hmmm, maybe we shouldn't have sent her a car image to use!

And Secondly The Quirky Crafts team...please welcome Our two new members
Doris
For my project I decided to use Monkey C and Widdle Bear from Doodle Dragon Studios. The advantage of digital images is to be able to use the printer to make multiple copies, and make them any size required. I printed the images, then I used double sided adhesive to make layers (decoupage), different papers and accessories and a base mount double easel panel. For more details I invite you to visit my blog.
I also made this box with a Doodle Dragon monster for a new baby gift.

I used are my new prismacolor pencils (Merry Christmas to me!) on my cards!
This digi is from Bugaboo and is called Peapod Boo. (Also available in boy, and a variety of twins).
And these two cards feature Widdle (baby) Dragon and Widdle (baby) Moose from Doodle Dragon Studios.

I love this Happy New Year to Ewe image and sentiment from Bugaboo, and I found some pink Daisy and Dandelion papers that were perfect, and with my favourite dark pink metallic card for a card blank and some Dovecraft pink velvet ribbon I found in my stash it should be pink enough! I die cut 2013 with Sizzix Shadowbox, didn't add the shadow bit. Papers are cut with Nesties and Grand Nesties. Image coloured with Promarkers.
I also love this stork from Doodle Dragon Studios who is bringing a new baby dragon of course! These come in B&W and coloured, so if your printer is working properly unlike mine you can print quick ready coloured images.I coloured mine with Promarkers and Trias, and found this paper which could be Paper Artsy, lots of bits from stash added.

Surprise - it is an easel card, I really like making them but do people know how to put them up I wonder? Heart ribbon from Crafty Ribbons and flower from stash.

 Caro
I chose to make a cute tag for a new baby using the Peapod Boo digital image from Bugaboo.  I coloured the image in using Promarkers and around it using Distress inks.  I then stamped inkadinkado spotted swirls for added interest in the background. Finally I added lace, ribbon and lots of glitzy embellishments from my stash.

I've used Shopping for Two, (from Bugaboo) which comes with the sentiment. Use it in PNG  and you can move the words around wherever you want them! This was a very quick and simple to make, a little note type card I sent my daughter the week before the baby was due, we'd gone shopping for New baby things! I sliced off about an inch and a half off the front of the card. Used Forever Friends backing papers inside and out, added lots of pink Stickles glitter glue, gems, ribbon and baby shoes from my stash... and.
...I just had to make a New Years card using this Bugaboo ewe!!
And added here Wednesday 9th .... this Doodle Dragon Stork...
bringing a baby dragon to his mum! Link to the font is on my blog!
(added on the 8thJan)
