May 2016 Midway Reminder - April Showers bring Quirky May flowers!

It's reminder time for our last challenge for a few months, and it's all about flowers, following our Quirky April furry showers!

This is a very popular challenge and you hardly need a reminder!

Also if you are interested in joining the DT later in the year when we hope to resume challenges, please contact me at any time during the next few months.

Our wonderful sponsors for this challenge are:

I just realised I forgot to tell you about the amazing prizes which are:
Ist prize Ike's Art $15 worth of digis of choice
, 2nd Prize Delicious Doodles 4 digis of choice,
3rd prize Bloobel Stamps 3 digis of choice

Now for some inspiration from the team:

A truly beautiful card by Elena using Rosalie from Delicious Doodles. Superb colouring Elena!

I colored my image with Copics, then fussy-cut her and adhered her to my vivid purple paper.
I cut  my pattered paper to the same size as Lulu's Peekaboo circle and now it looks like
she's peeking out of a purple room.
Besides the tiny flowers on my patterned paper, I lined the rim of Lulu's window with jewelled flowers. staying with the flowers theme of this challenge, my sentiment inside reads:
"May your day bloom with wonderful surprises".

Peekaboo Lulu

I colored Daisies & Butterfly Frame from Delicious Doodles with Copics.
Using Photoshop, I used the image to frame a pic of my daughter,
using digital elements and papers to complete my layout.

Nana Connie is unwell and will join us in a few days.

Cazzy
Sorry I'm late! Here is my first card using a gorgeous image from Ike's Art called Greek Window. I have never been to Greece, and would love to visit one day! I googled Greek houses to try and get the colours right.
I will be back with a Bloobel Stamps card next.

Marg

This is my take on Flower Square by Ike's Art
coloured using Sakura Gelly Roll glitter pens,
mounted onto raspberry card, black card, matt gold paper,
added lace and a 6x6 white linen effect card base.
Glitzy Babe sentiment was an afterthought.

April 2016 Midway Reminder: It's Raining Quirky Cats and Dogs.

It's reminder time, and our challenge this month is It's Raining Quirky Cats and Dogs, and Marg wants to see a cat or dog or both on your projects.

Don't forget also we need more Quirky team mates, if you are interested - even if you have no experience of doing this - please contact Cazzy in the usual way.

All of their fantastic images are available in digital form or real rubber stamps, mounted or unmounted or just on cling rubber. The cling rubber version has the image on the back so you can see what you are stamping!

 Crackerbox Palace Website

The prizes are:
For our first place winner - 3 digis of your choice.
For our second place winner - 2 digis of your choice.
for our third place winner - 1 digi of your choice.

Now for some more inspiration, using images from our sponsor, from the team:

using "Cat and Dog"

Image is colored with ProMarkers, then die cut.  The two mats are lightly embossed with a "Linen" folder.  I used three ribbons from my stash for embellishment, two of them to tie the double-color bow.  Paper is a left over scrap of  12" x 12" scrapbooking paper.

Using Hang on Cat from Crackerbox Palace

I love the Kitty Cat birthday sentiment and I hope my Mum will too, she has a Siamese cat but used to have a blue grey Persian - both rescues.
There is a lot of detail in the Cat on a Window image, lots of depth as a result. The red polka-dot ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons, fish bones charm from stash.

Using Dog Sidney and Dog-gone Special on my second card.

I love this cute puppy dog image in his too big collar! I kept it simple and masculine, and added some  of my favourite ribbon by Crafty Ribbons.

I hope to add a third card later.

Marg
will be along later.
I made this card not only for the reminder post but also for my stepsons birthday later this month. I found all of the items used in my own craft stash so unfortunately I cant tell you where I brought anything.  I decided to place "Hang On Cat" on to cream hammered embossed card so it looked like the cat was trying to hang on to the wallpaper but instead hes making scratches in it. I then wrote "Hang on there" down the left hand side of the image, on the paw print cardstock in a black pen.

March 2016 Challenge reminder: Quirky masculine with ribbon or twine.

Here we are again, it's reminder time for the March challenge which is Quirky Masculine with ribbon or twine.

Also don't forget we want some more DT members here at Quirky, please contact me if you want to know more! We also could do with some 2 month guests.

Here's a reminder of our lovely sponsors:

Who are providing our first place winner with a £10 voucher to spend on gorgeous ribbons.

Our second place winner can choose 7 digis from Bugaboo.

and finally a new sponsor for this year, we would like to welcome the very Quirky:

Our third place winner will be able to choose 3 digi images from SLS lines.

Now for some more inspiration from the team:

Patacake

I used Bugaboo's "Har Repotter the chosen one" on a birthday card. My organza ribbons  are green and purple and decorate the corners of my card.

My second card, using SLS Lines Math Geek.

I created a boomark for hubby today using SLS Lines Book Lover
on a "foldover" bookmark. Colored with Copics and fussy-cut, my sentiment is from Pinterest.
I used patterned ribbon on the edge and added Copic-colored hearts to pull the trim into the rest of the color scheme.
Below, she's peeking out over the book to mark hubbys place. He laughs every time he uses it. He says it reminds him of the "fussy librarian" who used to shush him when he was in the stacks.

Well Pat did well didn't she, how do I follow that? At least I got here in time for a change!
I used a cute cowboy digi from Bugaboo called Wee Ones Cowboy - Horseshoe, together with some DCWV for the boys paper, some horse ribbon, which is exclusive to Crafty Ribbons and comes in several colours and different animal silhouettes - even dinosaurs, and some twine on which is knotted a horseshoe charm.

My card using Guy - Car Keys by Bugaboo
Cars & Trucks 15mm (Exclusive to Crafty Ribbons)
& pale blue bakers twine
to follow the theme of Masculine with ribbon or twine.

I hope you are enjoying our challenge and will play along too!

January midway reminder #1 2016 Let's Quirky Celebrate

Hi everyone, I'm here to remind you to play along with our January challenge, I'm only just getting used to calling the challenge by the month now that we have gone monthly, it is easier than numbers!

Here is your reminder about the challenge and our sponsor.

My challenge is called Let's Quirky Celebrate, and I want to see you play along with projects that include the word Celebrate or Celebration, and it can be any kind of celebration you like, and any kind of hand made project.

We are sponsored by the wonderful Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps who are providing all three prizes to our winners.

Who are generously providing the following prizes:

1st prize of 3 images of choice from the whole of the store
2nd prize Any 3 of the images used by the DT
3rd prize any 2 of the DT´s chosen imagesB - listed below

The images kindly supplied to the Design Team by Stitchy Bear are:

CraftyGirl Creations

BBKakes

Floppy Latte Designs

Stitchy Stamps

My Heart Pieces

Beary Dust

Now let's look at the wonderful projects from the team, I'm sure they will inspire you to play along.

using sponsor image "Pretty in Pink"
to make a card that celebrates Love.

The image is colored using ProMarkers and chalk, then die cut and framed.  I used burgundy CS to back the die cut frame, embossed the background, and added two different ribbons for embellishment.  The bow is a single layer, five-loop bow done with 1/8 inch ribbon.

Hi it's Lynne here with my midway card to share with you using Digi Blessings Sewing Mends the Soul. My first love is sewing and I always love to create with things that are related to sewing - thus, this adorable bear doing a cross-stitch gift to celebrate someone's birthday with the word, "celebrate" faux stitched on the heart!!! I had a lot of fun adding buttons, charm, and pearls along with a ribbon.

Creative juices were running wild and perhaps quirky when I found this cupcake paper and just knew that I had the purrfect sentiment to use on the inside which I wanted to share with you AND of course, the Stickles Fairy along with Cupcake Border Punch came into play. Hope you stop by and visit me to learn all the fun elements that I used making this special birthday card.

Hey crafters! Pat here reminding you to share your projects and cards with us for the January challenge. The theme is Celebrate! and I got to play with this lovely digi image from our sponsor, Stitchy Bear. It's called "Lake Winter." I lightly colored over the entire image with Copic BG10, then used a toothbrush and white acrylic paint to add more snow to the scene. I framed it all with assorted shades of teal. I snagged a package of lacy paper doilies from my local thrift store today and used one to make my image pop on my easel card.

I have used Wonderland Cake from Stitchy Bear Stamps.  It is coloured with Wink of Stella pens and Graph It alcohol markers. I printed the image four times and decoupaged it for the main focal point and cut elements from the other two (which I had also flipped to give it a even quirkier look) as embellishments. The Happy Birthday paper is from my stash.  The sentiment is a freebie stamp which I have stamped on to pattern paper in Rich Cocoa Momento ink and cut out using a Stampin' Up decorative punch.

I used this really cute Baby by Beary Dust, and although I am a little late for this post I am well ahead for my new Granddaughter's 1st Birthday! It has to be a first for me. The word celebrate appears on the stamped ribbon and background definitions. I am celebrating having a Granddaughter, and her birthday in advance! More details on my blog.

 Marg will be along later.

GUEST DESIGNER

Gabriela - 2 month GD

I designed a Tag with scenery where the young and pretty girl, "Fashion Gal Shelly", can go for a walk.

DESIGN TEAM

MYRIAM

For my center step card I used Snow Fun from our sponsor Stitchy Bear Stamps

This lovely digi is "Sweet Sun Tea" design by BBKakes and provides by our generous sponsor.

Hi everyone!  I used to my card the adorable and sweet digi  Angel Bell.
 of our sponsor Stitchy Bears.

DORIS
This is my first project, a baby card I made using the lovely Bunny Flop image from Stitchy Bear Stamps.

My second one is a Feel Better Soon card using the Boo Boo Bee image  from our amazing sponsor
Stitchy Bear Stamps. Have a Great Week!!!

Cazzy
The first image I have used is the beautiful Snow Deer Scene by Ike's Art. This comes with many components and the main image, which I used, you also get the scene without deer and the deer separately so this could be decoupaged or used in different variations. This time I simply added a die cut panel and two glitter card words, and a little Stickles to the scene for a sparkly icy effect.

The second image I used is incredibly beautiful and is called New Baby also by Ike's Art. Many photographers want to take this image of a new born baby's feet cradled in the parent's hand. Again very simple, I coloured the image and die cut it into an oval, added a pearlescent frame and the word Love, and a bow.

Challenge #4 Reminder to Quirky Well Pile it, Layer it and 3D!

Hi Quirky Peoples it's me again, Lyn, just to remind you my challenge of...
Pile it High! Layer it Up and try some 3D!
...still has a week to run, so come and play! Go HERE to see our creations from last week and to find Mr Linky to join in.
Our Fabulous sponsors for this fortnight are...
Who have supplied our team with some fantastic digital images, which  we've showcased here.
and
 1st Prize: 3 images from Robyn's Fetish
2nd Prize: $5 of Images from Digital Delights
3rd Prize: 1 image from Robyn's Fetish

Here's a few more of our teams makes, first Cindy our new 2 month Guest Designer!
Cindy.
'Lambchop' is the image I chose to use this time.   This image also spoke to paper piecing, but also embossing!  I used Stampin' Up's new Decorative Dots embossing folder to emboss parts of the lamb and give her dimension.  I used my markers to colour the flowers a few times and also pop dotted them.  I have more detailed photos and steps on my blog if you are interested :)

and the rest of the Quirky Crafts Team

Gemma
I chose to make a layered tag for this challenge using and image from ''Robins Fetish' . It is a mantilla tag and as a base layer I chose 3 colours of paint and randomly covered the tag.
I used pieces of lace, trimmings, hessian and corrugated card to give more layers and texture paste through a stencil to add depth..
I added a piece of mount board and a smaller tag painted  the same colours, and wrapped some
hessian 'ribbon' a around each piece. To the mount board I added my image, coloured with 'Montana
Paint Pens' and to the small tag I glued a metal embellishment...

You can see all of the different layers in these photos, and the final thing I added were a few buttons.
I think each layers adds further interest to the tag. It's a very tactile piece and each time I look at it, I see something slightly different.....happy crafting folks x

I'm not late honest!! I  added  my make yesterday but it vanished along with all my links!! Never mind! Well, as you can see I chose to make a box for my last weeks card, seeing it wouldn't fit into it's envelope! I've used almost the same coloured card and papers as before but didn't 3D Smart Owl  (from Robins Fetish) as I thought there was enough layers for a box lid! I have glossed over the Owls Glasses/eyes just to make them pop out and shine a bit more with Glossy Accents. I've also added yellow foam shapes and an owl charm.
By the looks of it... other makes may have gone missing too.... so watch out for them later!!

Cazzy

For my project, I used the digital stamp "Shells 4 Sale" from our sponsor Robyn `s Fetish. To make the perfect setting for the business of this child, make a card with layered waves. Seal the color with Spectrum Noir markers and cut the waves, I used the Silhouette Cameo.

Belinda Bunny is the image that I chose for this week reminder. Belinda Bunny ,is one of the beautiful images you can find in Robyn's Fetishwho is also our sponsor for this challenge.

In my case, I used layers, both in the images and in the rest of the card. I painted three sets of flowers, two sets of clouds and a complete image. Once I painted with my Promakers, cut out one by one the images and I placed them in layers.
Finally, I emboss  the bottom of the card to add dimension. I placed a frame, which stick with double layer foam adhesive. Also with double layer foam adhesive,  I placed a sentiment and a flower, that is also made into layers. Enjoy the challenge and see you soon!!!
****
That's it for now!  It's your turn to have a go and join in. Let's see some fabulous layering and pile it high! Scroll down or go here to find last weeks challenge and Mr Linky!!
