Stay Crafty with A Blog Named Hero Challenge: Those Were the Days

I'm getting started on my Mother's Day card with this mixed media design featuring Hero Arts Protea Flowers set and an older Eucalyptus background stamp.

The floral image was stamped onto a Gelli Print background then die cut.  A vellum panel layers over the Eucalyptus background.  Coral Mulberry paper frames the protea.  Stamped bees and coordinating sentiment are from the same Hero Arts set.

Those Were the Days - Our challenge was to choose a past Stay Crafty challenge.  I chose the We Are Family Challenge from November.  Create something that can be given to a family member.

I would like to share my card with the following:

Penny Black Saturday Challenge

I'm sharing a scenic mixed media card for the current challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

The base panel is a gelli print using various textures and acrylic paint.  To be completely honest, this one almost went into the trash!  While searching for a background for the Penny Black Panoramic Cling stamp I came across this print and just knew it was right.

I used my Misti stamping platform to align the telephone pole/wire and fencing.  As you can see, the telephone pole/wire stamp is quite large.  I stamped twice with Versafine black to get a good image.

Creative Worship Stamps - Christmas Challenge card

I'm sharing a mixed media Christmas card featuring the Forest Silhouettes Die set from Creative Worship Stamps (formerly Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps).

The card base is a Gelli Print which was created using acrylic paints and a Memory Box snowflake stencil.  The Psalm 23 Background stamp from Creative Worship Stamps was stamped in Majestic Blue Versafine ink then light white paint splatters were applied.

I went "old school" creating the snowy base by tearing then inking the edges of white card stock.  The dies were adhered and finished with silver cord and a sentiment from Colorado Craft Company.

Woodblock Wednesday - Mixed Media Birthday

Amy Tsuruta hosts a monthly challenge inspiring crafters to give some inky love to our forgotten woodblock stamps.  I found a large stamp at my local thrift store last weekend.  I couldn't wait to use it and the style seemed perfect for a mixed media design.

The stamp is from a company that I was not familiar with.  Stamps Happen, Inc and the stamp is called New York Socialite.  The stamp is large and had never been inked!  I love these thrift store finds.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Option "Wings"

Happy Wednesday!  Hope your week is going well.

I'm playing along with the February Penny Black Saturday Challenge with the option of Wings.  I went through my stash of gelli print panels and found this one to coordinate with Penny Blacks Panoramic Slapstick cling set.

The image was stamped directly onto the Gelli Print with VersaClaire ink.  A silhouette bird die was added from Sweet 'n Sassy Forest Silhouettes die set.  The card was finished simply with a sentiment from my stash.

Beccy's Place February Digital Release - There's a Hat for That Set

Beccy has created a fun accessory set that is perfect for so many creations.  There's a Hat for That digital set comes with seven adorable hats - both pre-colored and black lined for your creations.  All images come in .png format to allow for resizing and merging with other digital images.

My first card coordinates the floral top hat image with the Howdy Girl stamp set.  Isn't she a little sassy in her hat?!

The image was colored with Copic Markers, die cut and layered onto floral papers from Stampin' Up.  A coordinating sentiment from the Howdy Girl set, gems and ribbon finish the card.

How could you resist combining the cowboy hat with the fun pig image from Beccy's Funny Farm Stamp Set?!   This design would be a perfect birthday card for the cowboy in your life!

The image was colored with Copic Markers, fussy cut and layered onto a Gelli Print base and chicken wire die from Kat Scrappiness.  A coordinating sentiment and enamel dots finish the design.

Finally, a fun birthday card combines the chef's hat with Beccy's Cake Time Digital Stamp set and Birthday Stanley Digital Stamp set.

The chef's hat was colored with various cool grey Copic Markers.  The racoon image was colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with baby oil.  The image was fussy cut and layered onto designer papers from Carta Bella It's A Celebration paper pad.  A coordinating sentiment and enamel dots complete the card.

I hope you've enjoyed today's inspiration and will head over to Beccy's Place Store to view all of her adorable sets.

Beccy also generously provides many free digital images, tutorials, videos and card fold ideas.  You can find a list of retailers who sell Beccy's clear stamp sets on her blog as well.

Art Impressions Challenge #359 Feeling Blue

I'm joining the current Art Impressions Challenge - Feeling Blue.  We are using the color blue on our project.  What a better way to use various blues that a water scene!   My card features the Art Impressions Submarine Cubbies set.  This set includes several water creatures, a submarine, sentiments and coordinating die cuts.

I used several inky techniques on this card.  I started by ink blending the cloudy sky with a cloud die template and Stormy Sky distress ink.  The various water critters were ink smooshed using Stormy Sky and Blue Print distress inks.  I pulled a Gelli Print from my stash for the "water" panel.  Of course, the submarine was stamped onto gray card stock and die cut then cropped to peek onto the panel.  I finished with a sentiment from My Favorite Things.

Thanksgiving Trees

Last Fall I purchased this fun mixed media fall tree stamp from Unity called Tree of Gratitude.  I found a perfect Gelli Print in my stash and the rest came together quickly!  The tree image was stamped with my Misti in black VersaFine Clair ink.  The sentiment is also from a Unity set called Change Can Be Beautiful.

The Gelli Print panel is layered onto black card stock. Bo Bunny Double Dot card stock was used for the card base.  A few enamel dots complete the card.

I'm sharing a masculine farm scene card featuring Unity Stamp Company's June 2023 Monthly Kit.  The image was stamped onto water color paper and water colored with Altenew half pan colors.  Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles Large die cut was used for both the image and black mat.

The base panel is a Gelli Print from my stash.  I used Sweet 'n Sassy's chicken wire stencil over the gelli print.  A few enamel dots finish the card.

Sweet 'n Sassy Blessings

Happy Wednesday!  What a crazy week's it has been already.  And only half way to the weekend.  :)

I created a colorful summer card featuring a digital stamp from Sweet 'n Sassy called Butterfly & Flower.  Of course, if you follow my blog, you know that I love the convenience and sizing options of digital stamps.  This image was printed onto X-Press It card stock and colored with Copic markers then fussy cut.

The Gelli Print panel was die cut with Sunny Studio's Frilly Frames-Hexagon die.  I then die cut black card stock with the hexagon to layer.  The sentiment is also from Sweet 'n Sassy's Timeless Hymns clear stamp set.  I {LOVE} all of the wonderful hymn sentiments in this set.  We are so blessed that the owner of Sweet 'n Sassy, Korin Sutherland, creates these beautiful sets for us!
