Zarah- She's got the Look

She's got the look
By: Zarah S Peterson

SUPPLIES
Paper: Die Cuts With a View
Cardstock: Bazzill (white, black and scalloped pink)
Stamp: Heidi Swapp Word stamps (forever)
Alphas: Creative Imaginations and no-name foam alphas
Embellishments: Ribbon, Prima flowers & leaves (cut up bigger ones)
Digital: brushes from http://www.designerdigitals.com/
Miscellaneous: Glossy Accents by Ranger, bling & raindots, Pens, random pins from my drawer (handmade & no-name), Making Memories staplers, lace, a butterfly, white Staz-on, a bling heart & jump ring
Tools: Edge Scraper by MM

HOW TO
1. Cut strips from the striped paper - or from the papers you wish you mix up. But a piece of paper that goes behind them all and rough up the edges with an edge scraper or scissors.
Layer the papers and add the lace to the top. Staple it down.
2. Mat the photos twice. First on black Bazzill, and then on the scalloped pink. Make sure the scalloped edge is even. If you wish, cut away a small portion of the patterned paper that will run underneath the scallops, to make it less messy as the white Bazzill shows through all the way through the holes.
3. Glue down your papers and the pink ribbon. Staple the ribbon if needed.
4. Adhere the flowers diagonally. I've also added one slightly outside the line, because I wanted Anna to wear a flower in her hair. Add bling and other centers. Then add leaves. Also put some pins through the know of the ribbon.
4. Add your title and your journaling. Make sure the journaling strips fit under the photo and that your text will be visible. The easiest way is to put it in place and make small marks where the needle start and the page ends. That way you'll know how much space you have.
5. Stamp the text to the photo.
6. Add the pencil lines around the LO. If you want to, glue down the edges of the ribbon, making the ribbons arch upwards.
7. You're done! :D

Rachel- October Afternoon

Just recently I’ve been trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle and part of that includes getting my ‘5 a day’. Unfortunately, I am not very food at eating fruit – I buy it, I just don’t eat it. A few weeks ago I borrowed a juicer from a friend on a kind of ‘free trial’ and got myself a book on smoothies and juices. I have been getting quite adventurous and loving it! ( think cherry and watermelon, apple celery and mint or pear and avocado! Mmmm!) so I came up with the idea of these dice using the Creative Imaginations ‘josh blocks’. They could be used in a few ways. I chose the 6 fruits I am most likely to have in and assigned each one to a face on the block. I could roll just one of the dice and then look up a recipe in my book that is based around the resulting fruit, or I could roll 2 or three of the dice and let the dice choose the mix….

Fruit dice
by Rachel Burgess

SUPPLIES
Bazzill cardstock (blue green pink and orange to coordinate with cherry hill papers)
October Afternoon Cherry Hill 8x8 paper pad
October Afternoon Cherry Hill clear stamps
MM Scrapbook colors funky vintage chartreuse
October Afternoon Cherry Hill shapes
Red and green pens
Close up photograph of grapes
Creative imaginations bare elements josh blocks
blue green pink yellow and orange inkpads

HOW TO
Cut 4 1.5 inch squares of cardstock (one green, one pink, one orange and one blue and ink the edges with the appropriate colour of ink.

Use the green paint and apple stamp to stamp the apple image onto the orange square and once dry doodle over the edges with the green pen. Attach to one of the faces of the wooden block.

Attach the green square to another face of the block and add the strawberry shape over this.

Pop out the large ladybird shape and cut the head off. Using the body to represent the fleshy part of a watermelon, cut a crescent of green cardstock to represent the outer skin. Ink the inner part of the crescent with a creamy white ink and use the green pen to add the watermelon skin patterning. Layer the watermelon together on the pink square of cardstock and attach to one of the wooden blocks faces.

Cut a 1.4 inch square of the no.s paper making sure that the section you have included a no. 2 in the selection. Use the red pen to ring the no.2 (2 otherwise known as a PAIR, or in this case representing a PEAR ;o)

Attach the blue square to one of the faces of the block and attach the cherry shape over the top. Bend the overhanging edges round on to the other faces and stick down or trim off.

Trim a 1.4 inch square from the grapes photograph and attach to the remaining blank face.

Repeat the whole process with as many blocks as required.

Zarah- Altered Bottle Holder

We have this tradition in my family. Every year, around X-mas and my dad's birthday, he says that he doesn't want anything at all. Every year, he means it a little less. You see, my sister and I both always get him a bottle of whiskey. We try to make it different kinds every time, because he's very happy about trying whiskeys and he's quite the collector. ;)
Now, as I'm not exactly the richest gal on the block, I can't afford some fancy schmancy kind of drink - but what I CAN do, is to package it in a way that'll defnitely make it stand out and be a treasured gift, still.
I've gone bargain shopping at Scrapbook Outlet Online for this - and you can find most everything in there!
Be sure to follow the links in the "supplies list."

My Mind's Eye - Our Princess Fresh Flowers
My Mind's Eye - Cousins Little Blossom / Blue Polka Dot Paper
My Mind's Eye - All Star Starburst / Green Deco Paper (I've used both sides of this paper)
My Mind's Eye - Sweet Baby Girl Hello Baby / Miss Sunshine Paper
My Mind's Eye - So Handsome Frame
My Mind's Eye - Boys Only Frame
Flowers from Prima Marketing
Wire words "Celebrate" from Making Memories
Alpha by Mustard Moon
Random stuff:
Miscellaneous: lace, ribbon, no-name Prima-knock-off-leaves, raindots, pearls, scrappers floss, eyelets, stars cut from a no-name felt ribbon, buttons, brown ink

HOW TO:
First, I removed the silk ribbon that was originally the closure. Nothing wrong with it, but it's hard to get the paper to stick around it.  Plus - I wanted to go with another colour scheme.

I cut strips of paper to overlap and cover the entire container. I left a small gap in the back to make sure it opens easily. This means that I've cut two pieces of each paper, trying to get the patterns to continue seamlessly as far as possible.

I've roughed the edges up with an edgescraper (and added ink to them), and I've made scallops by tracing a piece of Bazzill and cutting it out.

The yin-yang pieces on the top (and inside) are easily made by tracing the outlines.

When all the pieces were cut out, I mounted them on top of each other and stuck a piece of lace in there as well.

I added the papers to the container, and made sure there were no bubbles or crooked lines.

Then I added the overlay. I cut it in halves, diagonally, and glued it down. Then I inked the edges of the frame, cut that as well, and added that on top.

After this, I made holes for the ribbon to slide through, and added them.

The label for the bottle is made using scraps from the container. I punched holes for eyelets and there's a string in the back, holding it in place around the bottle. It can be easily moved (or removed) to reveal the original ettiquette underneath.

I spelled out "Whisky ´09" (meaning: he'll get a Scottish whiskey this year, not an Irish Whiskey... and ALL because I ran out of e's!! *grins*) as a tiny joke...

After this was all done, I added the embellishments and...

Voila!!

Your very own, personalized bottle holder!

Jess- My Mind's Eye

I made this cute little countdown calendar for my pregnancy. At the time, I did not know if I was having a boy or a girl, so I tried to mix pinks and blues for an ambiguous effect. I do know now (it's a boy!), but the colors are still fitting.

Paint a few of the Heidi Swapp flowers white. Once dry, add Stickles. Set aside to dry.

Using a Crafters Workshop template, cut out a scalloped circle out of a solid color paper. Layer (using foam) a 4.25" circle cut out of patterned paper. Punch a hole through the center of a circular flower die cut and attach a felt arrow with a brad. Layer on top of circle using foam.

Attach number stickers for the countdown.

Stagger chipboard flowers, cutting a couple in half to a layered look. Add brads to the middle of the larger flowers for dimension.

Summer Memories
by Mireille Divjak

Flowers: Prima Marketing Inc.
Ribbon: Lace from stack
Glimmer Glass: Tattered Angels
Glimmer chips: Tattered Angels
Stickers: 7 gypsies & Adorn it, Carolee's creations

Bling Brads: Fairy Dust Brads - Imaginisce
Paper Lace: Creative Imaginations
Paper Frills: Doodlebug
Pen: American Crafts
Glossy Accents : Ranger

HOW TO
Spray the pink glimmer mist on the wood pages. Let dry. Use your stencils then spray the purple glimmer mist over the pages.
The chipboard pieces are sprayed with both pink and purple glimmermist. So are the paperfrills and the white paper flowers.
Then your craftsheet will be filled with glimmermist. I used it all by dragging my white ribbon through it. Now I have ribbon in matching colors.
For the glimmer glass I sprayed both pink and purple glimmer mist in a glass bowl. I used my heatgun to make the water disappear. Now you will be left with the glimmer pigment.
Mix it with glossy accents and paint it onto the backside of the glass.
I used it on my pages sometimes with the correct side up and sometimes just the backside.. just how I thought it looked better.
Decorate to your own liking.
