Breath of Fresh Air

Are you all feeling it?
Fresh, cooler air!!
It's the end of September and the weather is changing, Fall is here, and I can finally take a deep breath.  The heat is almost gone, and the trees are beginning to show some changes!

I hope you are all in a place where you can take a deep breath, relax, and feel the change of the season.  Now I know that some of you are just getting out of winter, and Spring will be arriving in your neck of the woods.  I hope we can all see the beauty of God's creation around us.  Don't we all have so much to be thankful for????  I know I do!  Blessings abound!

I'd like to share a few recent finds with you.

Whenever I see these colors I just swoop in and grab!  And by the way, looking in pockets and trays of unexpected places can yield a great find...above example!  I was looking in a vintage sewing caddy and there it was!  Happy Dance Time!

When the pink dishes appear on a shelf, I ask myself some questions.  And if the piece is pleasing to my eye, has a good price, and has a function that I can see for my craft space, I usually get it.  This leaf pattern piece above though is going to stay in the main room of our home.  It looks awesome on our marble topped coffee table, which by the way, my husband picked out!

Hope you have a lovely week!
Blessings,
Doni

From This to That! Lace Pillows and a Giveaway!

Piles of Vintage Lace, Jars of Buttons, I'm having a blast over here!
Making pillows!  Hearts and squares, rectangles and who knows what else I'll think of, I'm going through all my laces and buttons, and finding some more I just 'have' to have...

All those lucious laces, from whitest of whites to darkest of creams, all shades of beauty!
And the buttons!  Have you ever seen anything so pretty??

These are Rhinestone buttons that have pearl accents and they are absolutly the prettiest things I've ever seen.  I've also found some buttons that have just pearl accents that are fantastic.  They give the Bling needed to make my pillows pop!

Accent colors in buttons as well as my hand crocheted roses and maybe even some ribbon make a pleasing to the eye motif.

And I'm having another Giveaway!!! Be sure and click here or scroll down to the Giveaway Post to be added.  Directions are there for signing up.  Also, these pillows are for sale in my Etsy shop!!  Click on my Etsy shop button up at the right hand corner of the Blog, or click right here!  I'm adding more each week and will be happy to ship more than one for savings on postage (I'm still new at that, so hang with me while I get it figured out!!).  The Giveaway will be a special pillow made just for the winner with touches added of favorite colors, etc.  Ends December 31st and winner will be drawn the first of January.

I'm excited on this White Wednesday to share these with you!  Hope you like them!

A HUGE Thank You!

I have a huge thank you to give to Rhonda at  A Little bit French  for my gorgeous gift!  It is a lovely lacy pocket that is hand crafted by her talented hands!
The package itself was a delight to open, with the gift wrapped in tissue from a dress pattern as well as vintage seam binding for ribbon.

I decided that the twin doily to the blue rose doily that I posted about here would be the perfect choice to show off the lace pocket.  There are some differences in the two, but they are both charming.

The attention to each little detail speaks for the professional manner in which Rhonda creates.

There were even slips of paper wrapped in vintage ribbon with a tiny little charm attached!  How sweet it all looks together!  I am so thrilled to have this beautiful project by such a talented artist!!
Thank you so much Rhonda!!!

Please check out her blog and see how talented she is!  She has a gorgeously vintage and lacy blog that I adore, as well as an Etsy store!   She also hosts a giveaway each Friday!!!!
I hope you all have a lovely Sunday!
Blessings,
Doni

More Blue Blessings!

I wasn't watching Felix The Cat,
BUT, my heart DID go Pitter Pat!!!

The same garage sale I told you about where my husband found the hand painted china had these 4 cross-stitched napkins, outlined with blue. They were so sweet I couldn't pass them up!
And at the store we found before the garage sale??
This was where I just about lost it.
There, on a shelf up high, as part of a display for all the world to see,
just sitting there waiting for me to eye them, were FIVE
of these lovely delicate handpainted beauties:

I stood there and watched for my husband to come my way so that he could get someone to help me get them down.
The lady got a ladder, and not very carefully started to hand them to me.
"Please Lord, please don't let them break" I prayed!!!

"Oh, aren't they cute" she says. "Yes, I thought so too" I answered. Carefully I cradled them next to my heart all the way to the front.
I paid for them and conquered the urge to holler
"START THE CAR!!!!!"

What a blessing to find!!

I couldn't wait for Pearls and Lace Thursday to share them with you.
(But be sure and come back and join me for this week's Pearls and Lace starting Wednesday evening. I'll have Mr. Linky ready!!!)

Timeless Beauties

Beauty in the form of Hand Painted Brooches...

There's just something about the look of the hand painted brooch. I don't know what it is...perhaps the romance of the idea of its making and wearing. Can you picture one of these worn on the dress of a young woman, perhaps on a Sunday for Church? The eyes would immediately be drawn to the beauty of the piece. Perhaps the wearer was also the artist.
Oh, if I could only paint like that! I'd love to learn that art...painting beautiful china and jewelry.
Almost a lost art.

These are a few mosaics I've made of past posts. If you'd like to see the larger versions, please see my older posts for July.
I'm joining up with a few parties for Monday. Be sure and check them out to see all the beautiful blogs out there!!!

Pearls and Lace Thursday #10

Pearls and Lace Thursday #10
The beauty of glass and pearls, old lace and hand painted china.
Why does the word 'vintage' just make my heart beat faster??

The picture below is from one of the little books I bought last weekend...
The little girl is sitting at a table and the inscription of the print is:
"You have curious things to eat",
a line from a poem in the Poems book.
I remember 'curious' things put in front of me as a child...and I probably didn't touch them!
I was what my parents called a 'picky' eater.
Still am!!

The pink brooch was a garage sale find about a month ago, and it now sits with this glass dresser set in my bathroom window, looking beautiful on a hand crocheted doily alongside the glass pearls. So Victorian and Vintage!!

Thank you for visiting me here today for Pearls and Lace #10!!
