Quality Quit

Preparing for a trip I’d take,
I chose a little browsing break.
A favorite shop
Caused me to stop,
But what I saw did make me quake.

No tempting did new styles provide;
They left no choices to decide,
As crooked stitch
And cheap cloth itch
Sent me off fully mystified.

Seems quality has hit the bricks,
As flimsy fashions fill the mix.
In shock and awe,
I quickly saw –
My closet has far better picks.

Balancing the Books

If syllables were billable
And rhyme were punched in time,
Then poets would fill every phrase
With words to bring chips’ chime.

We’d mark the meter, count the clock,
And measure every sign.
Alas, the metaphor dissolves
Upon the bottom line.
