FANTASTIC FOUR by Evan Shaner

I've mentioned before that I'd like to work on anything involving Ben Grimm but I'm a huge fan of Reed, Sue, and Johnny too, so if I could have my pick of any book I'd take Fantastic Four. I really dig when the Inhumans show up so I included them too. The book would involve the destruction of Attilan starting at the home of the royal family. Lockjaw and Karnak manage to escape to the Baxter Building, asking the FF for help in finding out who's targeted the Inhumans. At some point Ben will grab a beer with Gorgon.

You can see the thumbnail, pencils, and inks for this over at my blog.

Ketchup by Ramón Pérez

i seem to be catching up on my ketchups... it's a sad state of affairs really.

so my official "ketchup" is ol' benny grim. i had hoped to colour him up... but time did not allow.

i had hoped to be more prolific with my post this week as i haven't posted in a dogs age on the twarts. but with work, webcomics, trying to buy my first home and all... spare time seems to be at a standstill.

since my offerings are slim, i thought i'd also share a partially inked ARCHIE as well as the pencils for my HELLBOY twart, both of which i hope to ink soon.

Here I was thinking I could take a week off, and then the awesomely talented Mike Hawthorne reminded me (with his fabolous inking on Ramon Perez's Thing headsketch) that I said I was going to put some inks on the sketch, so I guess I had some catch-up to do as everyone else ;)

Hope Ramon and y'all dig it :)

Synopsis:
Now I wish I could work on this story: I have already a bit of setup: Ben and Reed part ways (not in a good way). After a few years Ben is a PI and (femme fatale) Sue steps in his office. She wants Ben investigating on the murder of Mr Fantastic.
How does that sounds for a NOIR take on the FF? :) Any Marvel editor/writer out there who wants to do this with me? Uh? :)

UPDATE! I decided to take a quick stab at the opening splash page for the book. Couldn't help it :) Still waiting for that Marvel phone call ;)

UPDATE II! A bit of narrative to go with the above images, courtesy of talented Mr Eric Johnson (Thank you, Eric :))

…She walked in like she walked out five years ago. Tall, cool, blonde, but with a hint of trouble that made you think she was the wildcat twin sister Grace Kelly was trying hide from the Prince of Monaco’s family.

I took a slug of rye from the barrel I kept under my desk then I spoke.

“Hello, Sue. Long time. You might even say it’s been quite a stretch.”

You gotta admit, the kid never gave anything away. Her eyes flashed, and she gripped her pocket book a little tighter, but that was it.

“I’d hoped this was going to be a pleasant reunion, Ben. Now, I’m not sure why I came here in the first place.”
I took another shot.

“Sure you do, baby. Everybody wants a piece of the rock.”
Her look softened and there was a catch in her voice.

“Am I that transparent?”

Cheers,
Francesco

KETCHUP! by Mr. Hawthorne

Edit - I inked Ramon's THING sketch as my entry for that subject. Hope he doesn't mind.

The THING by Mr. Hawthorne

I didn't finish my THING either. Here's my place holder, an older piece from my blog, till I get it finished.

Edit - I inked Ramon's THING sketch as my entry for that subject. Hope he doesn't mind.

Mike

The Thing, by Ramón Pérez

it looks like nathan and i were thinking along the same lines...

when i think of the Thing the first thing that pops into mind were the days when he would don his extra large overcoat and stingy brim fedora.

while my piece isn't done yet, i thought i'd share the doodle on a napkin that initiated it... a place holder till the final is done...

the other temptation was to go another more peculiar route. the thing is one of my all time favourite characters (which is funny though, cause i've never liked the fantastic four), however my first exposure to him wasn't through comics but the cartoon show from the late 70s and early 80s...

The Thing by Nathan Fairbairn

Sad Ben Grimm walking in Central Park on a cold winter night, feeling sorry for himself. This was supposed to be just a rough value study for a finished digital painting, but somehow it's Sunday night again and this is as far as it's gotten. So whatever. Now it's a finished piece, I guess. I think I prefer it rough like this anyway.

With respect to Mr. Alex Toth, from whose model sheets I have taken the design and pose of our ever-lovin' blue-eyed hero.

THE THING by Steve Bryant

Excuse me while I whip out my Thing...

I wanted to do something with the Yancy Street Gang, but Mr. Kuhn already rocked that one, so I opted to humiliate the Mole Man instead.

If I can self-promote for a second, please check out the Kickstarter campaign to fund my book, Athena Voltaire.

Ooops! I just read what next week's Twart is--one of my all-time favorite characters! Gotta get to work!

(One of the nice things about Twarting near the end of the week? Being able to add in all of the crazy tags that already exist.)

I made my Twart today while I was signing
at Astro-Zombies Comics here in Albuquerque.
Great choice, Mr. Shaner. Ben Grimm is the coolest!!!
Thanks for looking.

THE THING by tom fowler

affectionately titled: "F@#K OFF, STRETCH!"

EDIT: had a bit more time today so i banged out my original idea as well.
note i did not say "banged out my original thing".

... also if there's anyone out there in twartland who's interested i'm taking pre-orders for sketches at TCAF and HEROES CON. more info here.

THE THING by Urbanbarbarian

Alright, this is not an original Comic Twart. I apologize. It's from an upcoming issue of X-Factor Forever. But this is probably the best I've ever drawn The Thing! I'm not sure why I stuck the Rabbi in there. But there he is! Perhaps Kirby whispered it in my ear...

THE THING by Ron Salas

Ben Grimm The Thing has always been one of my favourite characters. In fact, the first american comic book I remember reading was a Fantastic Four issue (#167) with Thing fighting the Hulk on the St Louis Arch. Like all kids, I was fascinated by the fact that he was made of stone and always wondered how the change happened. This pic is inspired by that childhood thought.

Edit: I don't know if everybody's seen this before but since we're still waiting for some Things to roll in I wanted to update this post with one of my favourite Things.

THE THING by Evan Shaner

I was really excited to pick The Thing for my week, he's my favorite Marvel character by a long shot. Ben Grimm represents a lot of what I like about Marvel and I'm really looking forward to see everybody's take on him.

I went through 3 or 4 ideas before landing on this one, and this gave me a chance to draw some other guys that I've never tried. I'd really love to bring back the old Marvel Two-in-One. That's one of my favorite books because it's a place where this happens, or things like this make sense.
