Mitring Corners Tutorial

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

I have a short tutorial on my You Tube channel to help with mitering those corners on your album covers etc.

I tried to find a mitering tool  but could only come across them in the US. Though they weren't too expensive the postage etc just made them ridiculous so I had a wee think and came up with this solution that works for me.

I'm sure it's nothing new but it's new to me so I hope it helps if you struggle to get those corners just right.

Have a good day!

Me & You Legacy Keeper photo album and Tutorial

Hi again. I've been asked how I made this little photo album using the Legacy Keeper die set.
First of all here is the completed album with spaces to slide in four of your precious pics and two outer panels to jot down the story behind the photos.

The album folds in from both sides and joins in the centre.
You can decorate it in your own style of course and have a lot of fun making it.
It would be a lovely keepsake for grandparents, a brag book, a special place to hold fond memories, just whatever you would like.

Photo Album Tutorial

There are quite a few pics so I hope you can follow what I've done.
Enjoy!

First of all cut two of the legacy dies in your chosen card stock

Take off the top tabs as shown and cut windows into the four bottom tabs using the small scallop edge die from the set

Prepare a construction strip 1/2" x 4" and score lengthwise. Add tape as seen. This will hold both the sections together and elongate your album.

Cut four frames in your chosen card stock using the two scallop edge dies from the set.
Be careful when cutting them together and tape down well to prevent them moving as you cut.

This is probably not the most interesting pic you have ever seen but is one of the acetate windows for your album cut using the larger of the two scallop edge dies.
As a means of cutting acetate cleanly, sandwich the acetate and die between two layers of copy paper and it will cut without too much effort. I used a fine acetate for my windows and not a construction acetate.

Adhere some fine red liner tape round the frame opening on the back as near to the scallop edge as possible.

Pop the acetate into place. To help position it only remove one piece of the liner to get you started. Once you are happy with the placement you can go ahead and remove the rest.

Only place red liner tape on two sides on top of the acetate as you want to leave a space at the top to slip in your photo later.

All set to glue in place.
Line up the windows carefully so that you can fold your album easily later on.

A piece of the cut out card to show where you pic will go.

Adhere your frames in place

The sides will fold in and meet in the middle as seen.

For the back cut a piece of card stock to fit and layer with paper of your choice for stability and to prevent the album bending on the fold.
If you want to use ribbon as a closure make sure to stick it in place before adding your mat and layer.
Decorate as desired to finish.

Hope you have fun and share your makes on our Tonic FB page!

Tutorial for inlaying your die cuts

Hi! I've been asked to show how I made this inlay die card. So I've put together a very straightforward tutorial to help you and show just how easy this is to do.
It will work with any die cut you wish to use but I've used my Tonic Studios Floral 'Mystic Vine' die for this example.

My original post with this technique is HERE

I've added text to the pictures so hopefully the tut will be clear to follow.
I've used quite 'loud' colours to make the elements stand out and easier to see.

You could do this project with a smaller cutting machine if you use a die that will fit onto a 15 x 15 cm card for example.

Hope this helps! :)

Flap card tutorial

Hi. I've managed to sort out a wee tutorial that has been requested for the flap card

It's not an original idea by any means but it's the first time I've ever made one. :)
These measurements will make a 5.5" square card but would easily adapt for any size you would like to make.

As I think a picture speaks a thousand words I've just taken pics at each stage and added a few instructions.
Should you have any queries please leave a comment and I'll get back to you.

I hope you find this helpful.
Thank you for calling in.

Have a great week end!

My original card is HERE.

WeR Memory Keepers gift bag hints

Hi and welcome this afternoon.

I've a wee mini tut today that I thought might be helpful if you are making the WeRMK gift bags.
It's probably something you have already thought about, but just in case I'm posting this as a picture guide to reinforcing the bag structure.

A picture is better than a thousand words - hope this is useful.

I made the little bag into a sort of favour bag with the addition of a couple of cut out Spellbinder circles. The possibilities are endless of course.

Have a great Saturday but if you are like me, I'm holed up in my craft room away from the dreadful rain and chilly wind. :)

Die cutting a stamped image

Here is the wee quick tut I promised on cutting a stamped die image to get it to fit perfectly into the die shape. You know how bendy a clear stamp can be especially if it has some finer areas.
As a picture says a thousand words, I've just taken a pic per step. Everyone on the planet probably knows how to do this but since I've just caught on I thought I would blog it just in case, like me, you have been hiding under a rock! LOL

I've used a stamp and die from the 'Happy Everything' set from Clearly Besotted stamps
