Image, Assets & Liability Pt. 1..."Silent Associations"

This is the first of a three part series in which I will briefly examine the fallout from covering child sexual abuse in both the secular and religious world.

Recently, in the news, we have witnessed organizations and individuals held liable for the abuse and mistreatment of individuals. Let's look at the first of a few examples:

Penn State University

"We're going to hold off on making a crime log entry. At this point in time I can justify that decision because of the lack of clear evidence of a crime."  email from Penn State Police Chief Thomas Harmon to Penn State President Gary Schultz regarding a mother's report to campus officials that Jerry Sandusky had engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with her 11 year old son.
At Penn State University, we are witnessing a whole collegiate system being held accountable for covering up, shuffling off and otherwise accommodating ONE convicted and confused child molester and rapist Jerry Sandusky. I'm quite sure that none of the individuals who were aware of Sandusky's actions would have ever thought that they would be held accountable for what he was doing. They didn't understand that their silence was similar to them taking part in the rape and abuse of children as well.

Jerry Sandusky's Attorney, Joe Amendola

Mr. Amendola explains many things here including that the vilification of someone who is "alleged" to be a criminal is not and American value and that "alleged victims" aren't really victims until the case has been proven in court. Legally, he certainly has a point, but there seems to be something missing...I know this, if you know of abuse can stop or prevent it and you don't do so, that is immoral:

Pedophilia & The Roots Of The Homo-Advocacy Movement

Not So Wild About Harry
Harry Hay
4/1912~10/2002
"So I’m about twelve years old and I swim very well at this point...I don’t go into the kids’ pool, I go in the big pool. And I had this experience probably five or six times. Some man comes up to me, wants me to see how long he can stay underwater. And it’s important for me to understand just how long he stays underwater. He’s going to go way down to the other end of the pool and he’s going to come up between my legs and he’s going to come out the other end. So he goes down to the other side, he swims through my legs, and he [does?] my {edited for content} out of my bathing suit and he caresses it a couple of times and comes out the other end. And then he is going to come back. So he comes back through again, and this time spends a little more time. Now, the point I’m getting at is I’m not only being played with—very pleasurable indeed—but even though it’s pleasurable, here I am twelve and I can’t say I’m getting as much out of it as he can because I’m not at that point yet…. But he keeps this up for about five or seven minutes. Well, I’m getting a little impatient, because, you know, I’m sitting here and I can see he can swim back and forth very well. And I keep saying, “Look, that’s fine, I’d like to have fun, and now I want to go dive. I want to swim.” But he can’t hear—he’s on his way back through.I think it’s important to realize that I know perfectly well that I can stop this game any moment that I want. I can call the attention of the kids around me to what’s happening. And I know perfectly well that he’s going to be hauled off. I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen to him, but I know they will come and get him because I’ve seen that happen before, already at twelve years old. But I am not going to reveal this man. I’m not going to reveal him because in me there’s a sense of loyalty. I’m not going to reveal him to the others around him, I’m not going to expose him, and I’m also not going to expose myself either….So the point is that I am being manipulated. I am not going to reveal him so that he can keep playing his game. But I am not being molested, because that was as controlled a situation as I know of. This has happened to me maybe four or five or six times. But I think this is something we have not talked about. This is something that in our own past as gay people we all must have experienced one way or another. We do have this sense of loyalty. We do have this gay way of being manipulated or being exploited; molested we are not. Being brainwashed we are not. We are actually participants in this little game"….Harry Hay in a public forum entitled "Man/Boy Love & Sexual Liberation" San Francisco, CA. 10/7/1984
Harry Hay aka: "The Gay Mount Rushmore" is the father of the gay advocacy movement in the United States. As the communist founder of the Mattchine Society in 1950, Harry was an advocate to his death not only for homosexual rights, but for pedophile rights as well.

This is an issue often misunderstood and one that invokes anger when discussed. However, that doesn't discourage me from doing what I do by any means. Be clear, the purpose of this article is NOT to state that homosexuals are pedophiles. That is not true in and of itself. However, we must be clear that the current homosexual movement is a product of the pedophile movement within the United States. It is that relationship when pointed to that often riles homosexual advocates and repulses them to the point where they don't want to hear anything else that you have to say. However, denial of the facts, doesn't change the truth.

Jerry Sandusky Denies It All

As far as Sandusky is concerned, it is all one big lie against him, except that he did, take showers with children, snapping towels, and horseplay and inadvertently touching a child with his genitals.

Costas: It seems that if all of these allegations are false, you are the unluckiest and persecuted man that any of us have ever heard about
Sandusky: (chuckle)I don't know what you want me to say. I don't think that these have been the best days of my life.

Costas: Are you a pedophile?
Sandusky: No.
Costas: Are you sexually attracted to young boys, to underaged boys?
Sandusky: Am I sexually attracted to underaged boys?
Costas: Yes...
Sandusky: Sexually attracted? Y'u-know no, I enjoy young people...I love to be around them...uuummm. I, I, but no, I'm not sexually attracted to young boys.

Turning To God In Times Of Crisis, He Is Our Only Help!

Penn State University may have lost a hard fought, last home game of 2011 to a very talented Nebraska team, but as an institution, led by the young people that attend, and joined by the opposing team and fans, almost 100,000 turned to God before anything was done on Saturday November 12th.
Pregame: Penn State (14) vs Nebraska (17) Penn State University 11/12/2011
In what can only be described as a surreal setting, and to the chagrin of atheists and other non believers, players from both teams, along with coaches and staff,  joined at midfield led in prayer by Ron Brown, one of the Nebraska Assistant coaches, for the victims of the unfolding sexual abuse scandal and for the strength and courage of all who have been so deeply effected by the revelation of abuse and the weeks current events.

What The Church Should Learn From The Penn State Sexual Abuse Scandal

"...with the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more."
~ Penn State Head Football Coach Joe Paterno 11/9/2011

For those who don't know, the institution of Penn State University has been rocked by failure to act in regards to alleged sexual abuse and molestation of children on the college campus by one of its former football officials. It all begins in 2002 when former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky a 32 year assistant coach who according to ESPN News retired in 1999, was alleged to have sexually molested and abused eight young boys under his direction over a 15 year period of time. Some of whom were abused on the college campus. The problem is heightened by the fact that it appears that no Penn State official took immediate action by either investigating or filing police reports. In essence, their silence allowed Mr. Sandusky continued access and credibility in dealing with young boys and potential victims.
