Quote Of The Day

“I think a well-managed track—and there are some in America—can draw a large audience and generate sizable purses. I think those tracks that have been poorly managed are turning to the government for a handout in the form of slots.
“This is a fact—when you go to the racinos, you don’t see people in the stands. They don’t have fans. They have purses. I think racing will end when you don’t have fans coming anymore.”

Quote Of The Day

“I have been appalled at the lack of fan support and the industry’s failure to bring fans back into live racing. Many believe if you watch racing on the Internet or TV, that’s good enough because people are betting. I want people to want to come back to the racetrack for the racing.”

Technology entrepreneur and Thoroughbred owner-breeder Halsey Minor in the Baltimore
Sun. Minor has said he wants to buy historic Hialeah Park in Miami and restore it in an effort to bring more fans into the sport.
