Busy week that was ...

So much has happened over the last week so I thought I'd do a little catch up for you all.

This time last week we were celebrating Christmas with our work party.
Fun night with fun, slightly crazy people.

It wasn't a costume party but decided to dress up

I found a new place to live - again! A place of my own.
Can you keep up with how many times I move? I can't. I'll tell you more about that next week.
(yes I'm moving 4 days before Christmas, crazy!)

I had a celebrity moment.
I don't actually get star struck very often but I completely did this week when
I had an encounter with KATE HUDSON! I kid you not.

I got to chat to her for all of 5 minutes but whoah, best 5 minutes.
She was super sweet and looked gorgeous with no make-up on, hair tied up, t-shirt and shorts - beautiful.
I was totally cool, didn't do any gushy celeb thing. Out of all celebs I've met, this is my highlight!

I also celebrated 10 years with my company.
It was 10 years ago that I started a journey that I never dreamed would have taken me on
the adventures it has, enabled me to travel across the globe,
allowed the most amazing friends a girl could ask for come into my life.
There have also been many challenges that have really helped me grow as a person. I am blessed.

Naturally following from that, I need a holiday!!
So I've booked in my long service leave for 3 months and will be heading overseas.
Some of you may remember I was going overseas last year and it didn't happen?
Well 2014 Paris, Munich, Rome and New York here I come. Let the planning begin ...

Christmas is here and each year Movieworld holds "White Christmas".
It was really pretty, lots of lights, fake snow, Christmas music, a parade with Santa.
Very sweet little thing to do.

And I finished my week off by heading down to one of my favourite spots on the Gold Coast - Burleigh.
We headed down for Breakfast at Canteen Kitchen (the best breakfast)
and then over to The Village Markets for a bit of shopping.
Such a great way to start the morning.

My two purchases, dress from Lilac Skin and Kimono from Wanderer

Such a great week.

Here's to another one, hope you all have a great one

I'm back

Hi everyone, thanks for standing by while I had a little break from blogging.
I didn't go anywhere - I think we can all agree I've done my fair share of moving
and flying away over the last couple of years!
I just kept working and settling back into life here on the Gold Coast.

And working on my next steps forward in life! But more on that later ...

But I spent time with friends and their new gorgeous 2 year old pup, Indy.
Sunday brunches at Blackboard Coffee followed by some beach time ...

Best green smoothie - kale, coconut water, apple, ginger and lemon + chia seeds

With my gorgeous new friend Indy

Of course headed down to Byron Bay, one of my favourite places ...

Lunch and afternoon drinks at Miss Margaritas

Love this stripey wall

Wategos, one of the best beaches ever

Waiting on afternoon waves

Sun setting at Wategos

Lonely figure on the shores edge

Such a great little break away, but now it's onwards and upwards!
It's nice to be back xx

Moving ... again!

Hey lovelies

Just a quick post to update you of somethings happening with me right now.
As the title of this post suggests I've moved ... again!
What a whirlwind my life has been over the last couple of years.
I moved from Gold Coast to Cairns to Perth and now back to the Gold Coast.

There's a lot of reasons as to why I moved back to the GC and I won't bore you with them all.

To put it simply there comes a time where priorities change,
your life needs change and you have to make different choices.
Perth is such a beautiful city and I will miss it and it's people, a lot.

I love the journey I have been on, learnt a lot and met some amazing people and new lifelong friends.

Sometimes people say you shouldn't go back, once you've moved on keep moving!
I get that but I don't agree with it in a physical sense.
And that's what I've done. I have come home, but my thoughts, outlook and feelings are different.

I've been doing a lot of thinking and working on all this of late
(that's why blog posts have been few and far between I'm sorry)
but I look forward to sharing this with you all in the coming weeks
as my life has an adjustment, yet again.

I want to say a special thanks to all the Perth bloggers (they know who they are)
who really connected with me via my blog more when I had arrived in Perth.
I hope the distance doesn't end that friendship.

Thanks everyone for just being your amazing selves!
Have a great weekend
xox

My Week Catch-Up

Apologies I've been M.I.A this week.
I headed to Sydney for some work for my day job which was actually really good and quite inspiring.

It's also given me clarity of the year ahead from both a personal and professional persepctive.

I love Sydney, I really enjoy heading over for a few days.
There's an energy about Sydney that you can't find anywhere else.
I usually take the red eye flight over as it gives me a good full day in Sydney on the other end.
It's a good flight option from Perth IF you can grab a couple of hours of shut eye during your flight.

I arrived early and met up with a friend, fellow blogger and photographer, Clayton of What Men Should Smell Like to grab some breakfast at The Grounds of Alexandria (so yummy).

There's also this great place there called Salt Meat Cheese, so very cool and the kind of retailing I like.

I had no idea there were this many varieties of salt!

We then moved on to have a gorgeous picnic at Elizabeth Bay Park. The weather was divine, the park perfect by the water and most importantly got to catch up yet relax with some great friends.

nap time

Look how clear and beautiful that sky is

I also finally got a  to chance visit Chinese-Cantonese restaurant, Mr Wong's.
I loved the decor and ambience and the food was good, not great but it was good.

But just before I flew out to Sydney, I downloaded Sarah Wilson ebook "I Quit Sugar".
This is something I've been pondering for sometime now so I thought I'd have a read through.
And now have decided to give the 8 weeks to quit sugar a go.

Why do I want to do this?
A number of reasons really, one is I always feel tired - always and
I'm always thinking it is my diet and of course sugar.
I eat way too much sugar - and I'm not just saying that.
The foods I eat are full of sugar, and bad sugar at that.

Sarah describes her 8 Weeks to Quit Sugar in a way that really resonates with me -
it's an experiment, just give it a go just to see how you feel.
Whilst you may lose some weight along the way, it's not a diet.
I feel at this point in my life I really need to challenge myself to something and that is for me, not for anyone else or for work, just me. I am intrigued by the simple fact of about how I feel.

So the first week or two is really about starting to be more aware of the sugar you're eating and start to make some better choices. So that's what I've done this past week and will do again this week. I've had no chocolate, no soft drinks, no sugar in my tea or coffee, no white bread and pastas and I'm researching.
My next shopping list includes quinoa, chia, lots of vegetables.
(for the 8 weeks, I'm not eating any fruits as they contain fructose).

I actually can't wait and am excited about trying something new for the year that is to help make me feel better. It's not a new year's resolution, it's an experiment that's all. At the end of the 8 weeks, detoxed of all sugar I will then be able to clearly know and assess what, if any sugar I bring back into my food choices.
(I already know blueberries are back in, I love blueberries but they are one of the best fruits to eat).

I'm in no way advertising Sarah's book but if you have an interest in eliminating sugar from your diet you really should check out her book.

I'd love to hear from anyone else who has given this a try. I'll keep you posted.

Putting the dream together ...

Ok, so it's finally time I can start share to something with you all.
I just can't reveal everything right now but I promise I will very shortly.

As I mentioned a few weeks back I was going to be heading overseas.
Well sadly that didn't happen, long story but at the end of the day things just change!
So I decided to take the money saved and the time I had to start an idea
I have wanted to do for over a year now.

I am going to start my own business!
It's very exciting for me but has (still is) taking a lot of planning as I want to do this right.

I've always wanted to have my own business for so many reasons but the main reason
to put it simply is to live my life on my terms.
I am under no illusions that it will be easy, I know it's going to be hard and a lot of work.
But I say bring it on, I'm ready!

So I have been spending my days planning, researching, buying, learning, writing,
taking photo's, being creative, putting together financials, emailing, organising, making decisions,
being inspired and most importantly - enjoying way more than I thought I could.

My motto is you never know until you try and there's lot's a different ways to try.

I am bursting at the seams to tell you all in detail as to what I have been working so hard on.
Stay tuned as all shall be shared in the next couple of weeks.

Catching Up

Apologies I have been M.I.A of late.
I've been in Sydney for work this week.

It's always a really tight schedule when I go but I got to at least spend
one day with a couple of girlfriends, which was so great to catch up with them.

After having yum cha for Sunday lunch we headed down to Bondi to see the
Sculpture By The Sea which was kind of cool and something a bit different.

Maurizio Perron - Paper Boats

Subodh Kerkar - The Chilly  (in the distance)

Paul Trefry - Knot Standing

Cave Urban - Mengenang (Memory)

Rachel Couper & Ivana Kuzmanovska - Mirador

Tae-Guen Yang - I Am So Sorry

Then it was straight into work and work dinners from Monday through to Wednesday,
which fortunately was also very lovely. Oh and just a little bit of shopping sshh ...

So I shared this via my instagram

Over the bridge we go ...

Beautiful dinner at a private home, so lovely and great food

Heading up to  the Gowings Bar and Grill at the QT hotel

My new shoes, too cute and I ♥ them

I have realised though that the 3 hour time difference between Perth and Sydney
is quite challenging for me to jump into 3 days of work, I must be getting old!
