Spotlight Technique

I was trying to make life easier and make two cards with one pass but life never quite works out that way. I have used the spotlight technique before but only normally with one area either coloured or greyscale. On a recent visit to Snazzy's I saw that she had taken a single image and stamped it twice, coloured one version and left the other as line art then cut the same areas out of each and transposed them. It was so effective I wondered why I had never tried it so I decided I would as soon as I got home.

She used a large floral from Penny Black but I don't have that so I thought I have loads of floral images from Just Inklined so why not use one of those. I was originally going to just print it twice and colour one when I saw I also had the pre-coloured version. I thought oh I can make this so much quicker now, famous last words lol. Of course the images are almost identical in size maybe a few mm off but enough to make this a much more difficult job than just colouring it myself would have been, but lesson learned lol.

I popped the circles on one and inset them on the other, not sure which I prefer but I would definitely try this again but I would colour the image myself lol.

Flipping Golfer

My good friend Kay recently brought some older stamps to playday and asked if anyone wanted them. These are not my normal style but I appreciate that the people I send to might like something different so I brought this one and a fishing one home. They come with a front and back image but I only used the front today. I ought to try a flip card with both but not this time.

I did draw in the background to look like a bunker and hopefully it works.

Not a Card - Something Different

I have been looking for a square shadow frame for quite some time so imagine my surprise when I spotted one and very reasonably priced too. I bought the 8 x 8 size and I also have a 6 x 6 that I have plans for too.

I made this card for my Aunt way back in 2012 and my mum liked it a lot and asked for a picture as it also contains her favourite poem, I have been wanting to surprise her with this for a while and now that christmas is over I can show you on here.

Rocky Balboa?

Whenever I see boxing gloves I think of the "rocky" films, my godson has decided that boxing is good exercise and he has been sparing for a while now so as soon as LaPashe released this design I had to have it, I bought the download version and was able to reduce the size a bit as I love the A2 size card and the mft blueprints are perfect for a no measuring card. Ive never been very good at measuring or cutting straight so the blueprints make card making a breeze for me and the fact you can mix and match is perfect.

I stamped the red card with the pinstripe background using mft black dye ink, this ink is fab on clear stamps but it is messy and I needed a good scrub after I finished, I also stamped the black piece but it isn't as easy to see.

Something Fishy

Another birthday card needed in a hurry, as I already had the LaPashe Cd open I had a look for a fishing image and this caught my eye, It was so quick and easy to put together and really took the stress out of a last minute card. The longest bit was waiting for the glossy accents on the fish to dry.

Scrum Anyone?

Being a Welsh family brings with it a love of all things Rugby, well for the guys in my family anyway. I was going to use this image last year for this persons birthday card but I ran out of time to colour it, I had of course forgotten all about the decoupage section on the CD. So this year I decided to make it in plenty of time and use the already coloured version as the image was quite complicated.

The paper was in my snippet folder and already cut to size and shape so it seemed like it was meant to be, I have no idea where the paper came from though. The red card is also a snippet so I think I am off for a play on the swings.

Crafting for Christmas Number 6

Another Just Inklined card for you today, I used this image last year but couldn't resist using it again this year too. Went slightly overboard with the glossy accents though, they even feel like glass bottles now.

Think this is my favourite of all my  just inklined christmas makes so far, think it is the colour pallet, this green is so deep and luxurious looking.

Crafting for Christmas number 5

Another christmas card, I have been on a marathon card making session and made quite a few cards so expect to see them over the coming days. I have also been using up my "real red" snippets, my some of the pieces in the folder were minuscule lol.

I find the Just Inklined Cd's so good for the more traditional christmas card, I love cutesy images but my aunts and uncles would think I had lost the plot (not sure why they would think this as never had the plot to begin with lol). There are loads of these images on the CD and not just for Christmas either. I have both of the digital stamp ones they have released and fingers crossed there is another one next year too.

Crafting for Christmas Number 4

This image reminded me of my uncles farm, even down to the sheep in fact the only thing missing was the original mini in the field. I loved that mini, it was power blue, with string to open the door and sliding windows and a number plate with three numbers and three letters, my that has been a wander down memory lane lol.

Crafting for Christmas Number 3

Another of the cards from the CD, I am so enjoying making these, there will a few to show as so far I have made 10. Almost all the one side of my family (aunts and uncles) taken care of, still need to make ones for my cousins but they won't mind shop bought ones if I run out of time.

Crafting for Christmas Number 2

This card has a little bit of dimension as this was in the decoupage section of the CD, I used the holly from the same section as the other cards as I felt it needed a little something in the corner.

In my mind this scene had a house, car and postbox and I am sure there is one like that but could I find it, oh no but you can bet I will once all the cards are made lol.

Crafting for Christmas Number 1

I decided to try to make a few more traditional Christmas cards and I knew just the images I wanted to use too, I had seen this card on Pauline's blog last year and decided that I would use this style for my family cards. I have made a few so far and still have a few more to go but have enjoyed it, never thought not colouring the image would be fun too.

Remember when ....

So I don't make new years resolutions as I am notoriously bad at sticking to them, once only got as far as lunchtime on the 1st before breaking one lol so this is not a resolution but a change of tack. My craft room has been groaning under the weight of unused crafty items for a while but it was particularly noticeable in the Christmas card making marathon when things kept trying to escape and I decided that I needed to stop buying and start using. I have lots of decoupage, peel offs etc but never use them so I am starting to use them up, any that I know I won't use will be donated to my good friend Kay for her nursery kiddos to use.

So with that in mind I made this card using remember when decoupage which I have probably had since 2009, there were three in the pack and I made them all up, using exactly the same style and actually I quite like them. I know the recipients will enjoy them and hubbie says I get stuck on the latest craze not realising that the recipients have no idea that this is so last season darling.
