Circles with Bling Birthday Card

This morning when I saw the new Tuesday Morning Sketch created by Jessi Fogan, I knew I had to play along. My favorite basic shape is circles, so I took the sketch as it was created and used circles. For the background I decided to use some aqua Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist that I bought several years ago and have hardly used. It was sprayed onto a piece of Soft Sky cardstock  and dried with a heat gun. Then I stamped the circles from the So Many Smiles stamp set by Close to my Heart with VersaMark ink and then heat embossed with Basic Black and Melon Mambo embossing powders. The Happy Birthday sentiment is by Hero Arts and was also heat embossed with Melon Mambo. This card will be given to my teenage niece, so I had to add some bling. All bling is from Recollections. That's pretty much it!

Follow Your Dreams Card

Sometimes the ideas in my head just don't jive with my supplies, so I have to work with what I have. That was the case with this Follow Your Dreams Card. I love the color challenge at Color Throwdown and I wanted to incorporate a flower in my design but I couldn't get it to look right. So, I took the opportunity to use a new to me swirl die cut by Impression Obsession with silver glimmer paper instead. The background paper was from Stampin' Up! sale-a-bration called Irresistibly Yours and I sprayed it with black and pink Tattered Angels glimmer mist. Then I decided to sponge on some Lavender ink by Hero Arts and darken the edges with Black and Melon Mambo ink. The sentiment is by Hampton Art and was punched with a 2" circle punch and matted with a 2 3/8" scallop circle punch. To add some bling details I punched two bitty butterflies and added colored rhinestones along with a strip of silver sequin ribbon and three purple sequins. This card definitely has some sparkle! It may not be what I originally envisioned but I think it turned out okay. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Happy 18th Birthday Card

My niece is turning eighteen this Friday and I decided to make her birthday card including the number eighteen to celebrate this significant occasion. I used the sketch at Mojo Monday for the card layout. The patterned papers are by Glitz Designs with a strip of black glitter tape by Recollections in the middle. For the sentiment I masked the word holiday from a happy happy happy holiday stamp and replaced it with birthday. I cut the number 18 using my Cricut machine and added some loose sugar cube glitter by Martha Stewart to the white numbers. The eighteen is accented by a bling circle by Recollections.  Now, I used the eight in the same way the Cricut machine cut it, but does it look upside down to you? I thought about turning it with the small end up but went with how it was cut. The accent cardstock colors are Pool Party and Lost Lagoon. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Colourful Feel Better Card

Given the choice between housework and making a card, I seem to always choose to make a card. Although I will have to do a couple of chores later, I indulged myself with some creative procrastination and made this Colourful Feel Better Card. The colours were inspired by this weeks beautiful ColourQ Challenge. I used the sketch challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches for my layout and selected the Feel Better sentiment to play along at Addicted to Stamps. I played around with the colours a lot before I decided on what you see. There were so many terrific options, it made it hard to narrow down. I decided to use bling instead of a stamped leaf to add some sparkle to the design. In the end I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Colourful Feel Better Card Supplies*:

  • Paper: Night of Navy, Whisper White and Lucky Limeade cardstock. Patterned paper from Ivy Lane collection by Close to my Heart.
  • Stamps: Bloom for You stamp and Sassy Salutations stamp set.
  • Inks: Classic stampin' pads in Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush, Lucky Limeade and Night of Navy.
  • Other Stuff: Spellbinders scalloped oval die, Decorative Dots embossing folder, Fun Flower punch, decorative rhinestones by Recollections, paper snips and dimensionals.
*All supplies by Stampin' Up! unless noted.

Modern Happy Birthday Card

Good afternoon! I hope you had a fantastic weekend and Mother's Day. It seemed to go by way too fast and I really didn't get anything accomplished. This morning I was up early to play catch-up on laundry and I found some time to make this Modern Happy Birthday Card. I used the Lacy & Lovely stamp set and Chevron embossing folder both by Stampin' Up!. This week Dynamic Duos is having their one year anniversary celebration. You can pick any colour combo from their previous challenges. I picked Basic Black, Melon Mambo and Whisper White from their seventh challenge. I added a little bling and a few silver brads for detail and I heat embossed the sentiment.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Zebra Flourish Birthday Card

Hello! I really love the color Lucky Limeade by Stampin' Up! and this evening I found a challenge to use Lime & Black at the Less is More challenge blog. I used the Finishing Touches Edgelit for the decorative edge, did a little stamping, a couple of punches, a little bling, and that was it. Simple and easy.... a Less is More Zebra Flourish Birthday Card. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Zebra Flourish Birthday Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Black folded card by Recollections, Whisper White and Lucky Limeade card stock by Stampin' Up!, and zebra patterned paper by The Paper Studio.
  • Stamps: Dot Flourishes stamp set by Inkadinkado and birthday sentiment stamp by Print Works.

Blossom Birthday Card

A few of my favorite crafting tools were used to create this Blossom Birthday Card. They are:
All the supplies listed are from Stampin' Up! and I would definitely call them my go-to tools for beautiful handmade cards. I created this Blossom Birthday Card using this weeks sketch from The Paper Players. The sketch was designed by Anne Marie Hile and I love it's versatility. I know I'll be using this sketch again. The colours came from this weeks ColourQ challenge to use: Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Always Artichoke, Lucky Limeade, and White, card stock colours by Stampin' Up!. I can honestly say before this challenge I had never used Always Artichoke, but after using it, I really like it. The inside of the card is decorated and stamped with "Have a Great Birthday." I don't always decorate the inside of my cards but this one seemed to need it. I hope you have a FABulous day and thanks for stopping by!!!

Boho Blossoms Thank You Card

Good evening! Tonight I've been busy in the kitchen making pumpkin muffins and oatmeal cookies for tomorrow. While I was waiting on everything to bake I made this Boho Blossoms Thank You Card. I used the colours from this weeks ColourQ challenge and the theme from Sweet Stamps blog for this simple design. To create the center panel I punched opposite corners with the boho blossoms punch by Stampin' Up!, then I stamped and heat embossed the various colours of card stock, did a little trimming and adhered the card stock to the backside of the panel. Add a sentiment and a little bling and my card is complete. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Great Birthday Card

It is evident that I have fallen behind on some of my favorite challenges. There are so many that it's hard to keep up. This afternoon I realized that I only had a few hours left to create a card for The Play Date Cafe's color splash challenge. Since I was pressed for time I went with my favorite glittered zebra patterned paper and created this Great Birthday Card. The splash of green is lucky limeade by Stampin' Up! and the bling is by Recollections.  Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Inked Embossed Birthday Card

When I started my blog in March, I had no idea what kind of response I would get.  So, today I'm super happy to have over 10,000 page views.  Thank you for taking the time to view my work.  It's the small things in life that make me happy!!!

This Inked Embossed Birthday Card was made for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge CFC60 titled: Text me and the Moxie Fab World Birthday Stamping challenge. To create this card I inked up the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder with Hero Arts chalk ink in Iris and then I ran it through my Texture Boutique machine by Sizzix.  Essentially this stamped and embossed the image at the same time.  It has a distressed look to it that I like but I thought it needed some colour.  To add some colour I embossed a couple of small sections and fussy cut the images, punched a couple of small flowers and added some bling to finish it off.

Pink Paisley Birthday Card

Hooray for Friday!!! I have the day off today. I thought I might delay laundry and other chores and make a card for the CAS-ual Friday challenge.  It's not like the laundry is going anywhere, right???  The challenge this week is called Pretty in Pink.  It seems I use flowers and butterflies a lot.  So, I went with something different, the classic paisley.  I hope you like my pink paisley birthday card with a little bling.

  • Paper: White cardstock and pink cardstock by Core'dinations.
  • Stamps: Paisley stamp by Inkadinkado (95784, top & bottom paisley) Paisley stamp by Stampabilities (D1104, middle paisley), and classic messages by Hero Arts (CL414).

Wildest Dreams Card

The challenge today is from The Play Date Cafe.  It is a color challenge using black, blue, and white.  My mood was a little "wild" today and that lead to this wildest dreams card.  I don't naturally gravitate to blue, but I love the zebra pattern paired with blue.

Wildest Dreams Card Supplies:  Black cardstock, blue cardstock, white cardstock, zebra patterned paper by The Paper Studio, Fiskars scalloped edge punch, EK Success butterfly punch, zebra background stamp by Stampabilities (UR1020), VersaMark watermark stamp pad, Zing! black glitter finish embossing powder, heat tool by The Paper Studio, blue rhinestones by Recollections, computer, printer, blue ribbon by The Paper Studio, and dimensionals.

When I saw the blue in this picture, I just went with it.  I guess the definition of "splash" is open to creative interpretation.

There is only one day left to enter the Moxie Fab World Damask & Brocade Challenge.  This congratulations card was made with the Moxie Fab and CAS-ual Fridays bling challenge in mind.  One of my favorite colours in aqua and when paired with black it makes a very classy combination.

  2. Trim aqua cardstock slightly smaller than card and adhere.

Bling Swirls Birthday Card

When I first started making cards one of my main forms of embellishments were dimensional stickers.  I was looking through my stash last night and decided I needed to utilize what I had on hand.  I found a new package of Jolee's boutique pastel swirls (50-20923) that are fun and have bling.  My oldest niece is turning fifteen this next week and I needed to make a card for her.  So, I decided to make her this bling swirls birthday card for another shot at the CAS-ual Fridays bling challenge.

Bling Swirls Birthday Card Supplies:  White cardstock, pastel pink glitter cardstock, Jolee's boutique dimensional stickers (pastel swirls repeats, 50-20923), TPC Studios clear stamps (Greetings, ST93416), ColorBox pigment stamp pad in Orchid by Clearsnap (15034), Stampabilities pigment ink pad in light pink (711366) (I mixed the two ink colors because one was too bright and the other was too light and I didn't have something in between), Stampendous! Pearlustre translucent embossing powder (EP150), heat tool by The Paper Studio, and foam tape.

Birthday SPARKLES Card

This birthday SPARKLES card was really hard to take a picture of.  I used a pearl white cardstock and it picks up every little shadow.  So, I apologize that the picture isn't that great.  The fireworks burst image by Stampabilities (F1220) was heat embossed with Zing! red glitter finish embossing powder (item# 27153).  Then I punched the stars with a creative memories punch and outlined the stars with star dust stickles.  To finish off the card I printed the sentiment on white cardstock, layered it with red glitter paper and added a few rhinestones.

Best Wishes Card

I learned a valuable lesson last night.  Don't read the CAS-ual Friday challenge and then try to go to sleep.  I was so excited about this weeks bling challenge all I could do was picture colour schemes in my head.  The colour scheme selected was the classic black, pink, and white.  Although I'm not a pink fan, I have to admit that these colours are striking when used together.  Now, all I need is a good occasion to give this best wishes card away.

Best Wishes Card Supplies:  Recollections black folded card, pink cardstock, white cardstock, patterned glitter paper by Making Memories (black swirl shimmer, item# 36979), Fiskars decorative corner punch (scroll, 01-005487), Spare Parts paper flower brad by The Paper Studio, EK Success punch (real estate sign, 54-30033), Hampton Art rubber stamp (best wishes, PS0272), and ColorBox chalk ink in blackbird by Clearsnap.
