CAS Steggy

Hey y'all, happy Friday.  I am particularly chuffed with myself because finally, at long last, I started my wedding scrapbook yesterday!  Okay, so I had kind of mapped out what I wanted to do last week and sorted through pictures, but yesterday I actually STUCK THINGS DOWN.  I'm starting with all the professional pictures we had, so the album is going to be very, very simple and should go quickly now that I've started.  Then I have a large stack of other pics that will go in a different album.  But at least I've started!!!

Anyway, my card today features a happy little dinosaur.

I used the sunny colors from Global Design Project:

I needed some more dinosaur cards for my dino-loving pal Krissy, so the Cupcake Inspirations challenge was perfect:

Plus it's always fun to bust out Dino Days again, even if it is long retired.  I'm hoping to have time to make some more dino cards next week, it would be nice to have a stash.

That's it for me today, y'all.  Have a great Friday!

February 2020

Scrappy Monday!  Man, what a weekend.  Last Thursday, Ryan woke up at one in the morning with a 101-degree fever so he stayed home with me Thursday and Friday.  On Friday, he comes up to me and says his eyes hurt, so I ended up taking him to the doc and he had pinkeye!  We got drops for his eyes (he's been a trooper with taking those) and based on the doc's advice, we moved his birthday party from Saturday to Sunday.  The other parents were very kind about the last-minute switch-up since we did it to keep anyone else from getting sick.  The kids had a great time running around an indoor playground and eating cake and ice cream yesterday, I think Ryan was worn out at the end of it but he was a happy kiddo.  Today, Ryan's eyes look back to normal, but he's still coughing and congested quite a bit, so maybe it's a good thing they're off school today.  Can you believe that the kids here get the day off after the Super Bowl??

Anyway, he's home with me so we'll be working on his Valentines for school (and the Valentines box too) and we're having lunch with Krissy, my dino-loving friend.  So here's a Scrappy Monday layout that gets two thumbs up from her!

Ryan was wearing dinosaur shirts in two of the pictures and that was enough for me to go with it for a theme on this layout; all the pics are snapshots from February of 2020.  Rather than doing a journaling block, I just added some quick captions by the photos, so this layout was pretty quick and easy to put together.  I think what took the longest was deciding which of the Dinoroar DSP prints to use : )  This was another of my very recent creations.  I only finished 8 pages last week, though I have another layout on my table that only requires journaling; we'll see how far I can get this week, though it's a short week with Ryan home today and off school Friday as well.  Speed scrappin' may be happenin'!

Today's color palette is lifted straight from the DSP:  Pool Party, Old Olive, Mango Melody, Pretty Peacock, just a smidgen of Pineapple Punch (the world's happiest yellow), and Whisper White.  Looks like there's some kind of color refresh on the horizon for SU!, so Pretty Peacock is coming back starting March 1.  If you ask me, they should never retire *any* colors, they should just add more!  #ColorDragon

I'm off to go get cleaned up after my workout and get started on Valentines.  Cheers!

Dino-Mite Sketch for the Paper Players

Happy fall, y'all!  I've got a nice cuppa tea and a piece of coffee cake for breakfast, it's a great start to my Sunday.  And to make it better, we've got a lovely sketch from the Paper Players!

This sketch is courtesy of Jaydee, isn't it great?  And here's what I made for it:

One of my husband's coworkers became a dad for the first time recently, and right after the new parents got home from the hospital with their son, we took over a meal for them.  The first time I met the new mama, before the baby was born, she was wearing a shirt that said "We're hoping it's a DINOSAUR!" (they had opted not to find out the baby's gender before he was born).  So I knew that Dino Days would be a perfect choice to make a card for the new family!

I hope you'll make time this week to try out this dino-mite sketch and upload your card at the Paper Players blog.  Have fun!

Roaring Birthday!

Mornin' y'all!  I'm happy to report that I did have a better day in my craft room yesterday and that means my friend gets a BONUS birthday card!  Yep, I made yesterday's doggo birthday card for my friend Krissy, but she also loves dinosaurs and this happened:

I used two different dino sets for this--my T. Rex is from Dino Days, and the sentiment is from Dinoroar, which I had pulled out by accident when I was hunting for Dino Days.  But I loved the sentiment with this happy Rex!

I used the Global Design Project sketch:

I kinda like how they had placements for rhinestones/sequins/embellishments, I struggle sometimes figuring out where they should go.  I paired that with the Color Throwdown:

Do you ever see two colors and think Those Do Not Go Together?  That's me with the pink and coral shades on here.  After some hunting through my DSP hoard though, I found that New Horizons print that had three out of the four challenge colors on it--including Polished Pink and Calypso Coral!  So I just added a Rich Razzleberry card base and used it for accents on the dino and the sentiment banner.  Also I finally got the Deckled Rectangles dies and I'm kinda sorta totally obsessed with them.  I've been working ahead on design team challenges and I've used them so many times already!

That's it for me today.  Cheers, y'all!

May 2018

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  At 6 this morning, Ryan (not really awake yet) yelled something, so I went to go see what he said...he was yelling "I WANT TACOS!"  Kid takes his tacos seriously, ha!  I told him it was morning and he rolled over and went back to sleep.

As it happens, I have pictures of Ryan eating (but not tacos) on today's scrapbook layout.

Pics are from May 2018 so Ryan was just over a year old.  I was telling my husband this weekend that I remember when Ryan was this little, but I don't remember some specific things like how much he talked or how well.  That's why I make scrapbooks I suppose, though at the moment I'm still working on 2019 so I need to get a move on.

Anyway, I think I chose the dinosaurs as accents on this because there's a blue T. Rex stuffy in Ryan's collection, and what little kiddo doesn't like dinosaurs?  Dino Days was--and still is--a great dino set.  Ryan climbed up on that glass shelf where we kept his stuffies in that house (focal point photo) just one time--I let him stay there just long enough to take his picture and then I got him down.  We intentionally put stuffies and nothing breakable on the shelves he could reach and his toy bin lived in the space below the bottom shelf.

Today's color palette:  Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Emerald Envy, Pacific Point, and Whisper White.  Something nice and bright to start off May.  I'm hoping I get some time to scrap this week.  Cheers!

Baby Luke: He's Here

Mornin' y'all!  It's a beautiful day here in Germany, but cold--we're still planning to go hiking this afternoon though.  I think I'll be wearing my battery-operated heated vest :)

Today I have another layout from Luke's baby book, and it's all about dinosaurs today!

Man, I haven't played with this stamp set in ages (well, I haven't gotten a lot of time to play with any stamps since we got to Germany, so...).  Dinosaurs are always a cute choice for baby books, no?  I love the Dinoroar DSP too, and there's some pink patterns if I ever need to make a baby book for a girl in the future.  I haven't made another one since this one and Luke just turned one though.

Anyway, I started with the patterned paper and built the color palette from there--Pineapple Punch (I do love this super-bright and cheery yellow), Mango Melody on the DSP, Pool Party, and Pretty Peacock, with a bit of Old Olive thrown in for an accent.

Have a great Saturday, y'all!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Dino Days
Ink:  Mango Melody, Pretty Peacock, Old Olive, Pool Party

Rawr-Some

Hey y'all!  This week I've been more focused on scrapbook pages than cards, but I finally did get a card made yesterday so I could share it today!

This is a triple challenge card, too.  First up is the theme from Global Design Project:

I figured the "rawr-some" sentiment fit the bill here.  Next is the sketch from Inspire. Create.:

The three background panels were super easy to do with my trusty Stitched Rectangle dies and retired Tropical Escape DSP.  Yay for using up some scraps!

Finally, here's the color challenge from the Paper Players:

I think the whimsical style of the dinosaur stamps lends itself well to just about any bold, bright color combination, so this card came together lickety-split.  Which means I got more work done on a scrapbook layout after I made this :)

Happy Friday y'all!

Ink:  Gorgeous Grape, Bermuda Bay, Memento Tuxedo Black

Friend-a-Saurus

So, how was your Halloween yesterday?  I had planned for us to dress up as members of Mystery Inc., so I was Velma, hubs was Shaggy, and kiddo was *supposed* to be Scooby....yeah the costume was hilariously, ridiculously huge.  It said it was for 3-4 year olds, and he's 2, but all the reviews said it ran small so I thought it would be okay.  Hubs thinks it'll take 3 or 4 years before our kiddo is big enough for that costume to fit :p So he wore a silly dragon costume instead.  He was still adorable.

So!  How about a card for today?

Most of the Design Team cards on Global Design Project went for Christmas with this color combination:

But I'm not ready for Christmas yet :) I was just going to give this one a skip but then I thought of the dinosaurs and hey, they work with just about ANY color combination, and I liked him for this sketch from the Paper Players:

I almost forgot the strip across the background, but luckily I was able to peel up the leaf layer and add in some retired DSP.

That's it for me this week, peeps.  Have a great weekend!

Dino Duo

Mornin' y'all!  I haven't been posting on Saturdays lately, but I had an idea for a card yesterday and I just had to make it.  Actually I made two:

I'm in looooooove with the color challenge from As You See It, I may do this one again:

Uhhhh now I HAVE to do it again, I used Crushed Curry instead of Mango Melody!  Oops.

I paired that with the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch:

Just for funsies I did the sketch in the original portrait orientation and again in landscape.  I think the Coastal Cabana dino turned out cuter, but I like the use of space on the Crushed Curry dino card better, so *shrug*.  Maybe I'll send these to my friend Tiana and she can sneak notes in her daughters' backpacks :)

Since we're officially hurricane-free (yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL day), I'm going to yoga this morning.  Wooooo!  Cheers, y'all!

SUO Challenges: New Catty Favorites

Mornin, friends!  It's time for another challenge at SUO Challenges!

This time around we're using new catty favorites!  The very first thing on my first new catty order was the Dino Days bundle, I just love it.  Add in the Dinoroar DSP and it's pretty much perfect.

I hadn't used any of these particular stamps from the set yet, so this was a great excuse to get them inky.

Head on over to the SUO Challenges blog and share your creation!

Dino Daze

Mornin' y'all!  And also....

NEW SCHTUFF ALERT!  NEW SCHTUFF ALERT!!!!  Aaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!

I'm terribly excited about today's card because the new dinosaur stamps are SO RIDICULOUSLY CUTE.  Lookie!

My dino is playing peek-a-boo from behind Tropical Chic leaves.  Somehow I managed to use two stamp sets and no fewer than FOUR sets of dies to make this!  And!  That new patterned paper I used heavily features Pretty Peacock, and I'm in love with that color.  So fantastic.

Here's the Fab Friday sketch I started with:

I promise there's a stitched rectangle under the dino and his leaves.  I just used a simple strip of Pool Party cardstock instead of doing any kind of scallop though; I figured the rest of the card was busy enough.

So there's my first Dino Days card, and I can't wait to make more with this stamp set.  SO.  CUTE.  I love that it has dies too; I've got two previous dinosaur stamp sets that don't have matching dies and this one is already the favorite of the three just for that reason.

Well, I'm off to take Tiny Terror to the gym and then I've got a lunch thing to go to, and I haven't decided if he's going with me or not yet.  Hmmm....

Cheers, y'all!
