Friday Flashback: Pinch Proof

Happy Friday, stampy friends!  As it happens, this week's Friday Flashback is the super seasonally appropriate Pinch Proof, just in time for St. Patrick's Day next week.  SU! doesn't do a whole lot of St. Paddy's Day stamps, so you'll see I used this one quite a few times in baby books.  You ready to flash back?

Also features Pinch Me, non-SU stamps
This one was for the most recent set of twin boy baby books.

Also features Pinch Me, All Holidays
I made this card for a friend whose birthday is on Halloween...it's a Halloween birthday card in costume as a St. Patrick's Day birthday card.  Does that make sense to anyone else?

Also features Happiest Birthday Wishes

This card was for a friend of mine whose birthday is actually on St. Patrick's Day, not Halloween :)

Also features Tag Time

The wee clover on the journaling block is from Tag Time, and that wee clover is pretty much the whole reason why I bought that stamp set.  Is that silly?  Don't answer that.

I like that leprechaun but I wish we'd get a stamp set with a pot of gold and stuff like that too.  Just for variety.  But I do also like that "lucky me" stamp.

Also features Sprinkles

...as you can see.

I think I had one day where I tried to come up with a whole slew of Pinch Proof cards.

And that's finally it for the flashback!  Here is today's new project:

Gasp, it's a one-layer card!  If you don't count the ribbon, anyway.  It so happens that the Fusion challenge this week was absolutely MADE for Pinch Proof, take a look:

I recycled my color combo from all those baby book layouts and used Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, and Garden Green instead of green ombre.  I thought about doing a rainbow theme but then if you start with red and go diagonally, then you'd only have two green shamrocks and that didn't seem right either :)

So that's it for this week!  Hope this post reminds you to get out a green shirt for next Thursday so you'll be Pinch Proof :)

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Pinch Proof
Ink:  Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight
Paper:  Thick Whisper White
Accessories:  1/8" Daffodil Delight ribbon

Friday Flashback: Kind & Caring Thoughts

Happy Friday, folks, and I hope you're staying warm and toasty today.  Even here in Alabama, it's 28 degrees this morning.  I'm going to have to bundle up like an Eskimo to take my dogs for their walk!  Anyway, today's featured stamp set for the Friday Flashback is Kind & Caring Thoughts, which was a hostess set in the 2009-2010 catalog.  I like it, it's got a few floral images and a host of beautiful sentiment stamps.

For some reason I can't make it do captions on the photos right now?  This one features Sprinkles and Teeny Tiny Wishes in addition to Kind & Caring Thoughts.

And this one features Weather or Not.  I think this card is cute, but it makes me sad--I sent it to a friend of mine who was undergoing cancer treatment, but she later died of the disease.  I miss her every day.

So anyway, let's move on to today's new creations.

I chose the Lullaby DSP from the current catalog because I like the softer colors in it; these two are both sides of the same sheet of paper so I thought hey, why not make two cards.  I don't have many get well cards in my stash, and I can always use a thinking of you card, so there you go.

I used this week's hot-off-the-presses CASE(E) This Sketch:

That's it for me this week, peeps.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Supplies, last cards only:
Stamps:  Kind & Caring Thoughts
Ink:  Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, Hello Honey, Baked Brown Sugar
Paper:  Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, Hello Honey, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White, Lullaby DSP
Accessories:  Banner punch

Friday Flashback: Crazy for Cupcakes

Howdy stampy friends!  It's time for another Friday Flashback, and today's featured stamp set is going to come in useful for me since I know so many people with October birthdays.  So let's take a look back at Crazy for Cupcakes!

Also features Priceless and Heard from the Heart
Kind of an interesting layout on this card...I like the colors though.  I think SU! needs more purples in its permanent lineup.  (Well, semi-permanent lineup since they keep changing them every few years!)

Also features Happiest Birthday Wishes
I've got some reverse masks that I made for that giant cupcake so I can use them to sponge color on each individual part of the image.

Also features the cupcake wheel, which I unmounted and put in the case with Crazy for Cupcakes
Oh yes, Crazy for Cupcakes has seen frequent use in baby books!

Also features Bitty Birthday and Sprinkles

Also features Birthday Bakery and Background Basics
Hey, I found an idea I liked so I stuck with it.  And that's it for the flashback part, here's today's brand new card!

I think that this stamp set just begs to be used with bright fun colors, and lucky for me the challenge at Colour Me this week is perfect!

I also used one of the older Nacho challenges that I missed in my unplanned unpack-the-house crafting hiatus:

That's it for me today, peeps.  Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Crazy for Cupcakes, Background Basics
Ink:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Bermuda Bay, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Real Red
Paper:  Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Sycamore Street DSP (retired)
Accessories:  corner rounder, oval, & scalloped oval punches, Dimensionals

Friday Flashback: Eastern Blooms

Wow, today is already the last Friday in April.  Time is just speeding by and it's time for another Friday Flashback!  Today's featured stamp set is one of my favorites (ok, I have a lot of favorites), Eastern Blooms.  So let's go!

Also features Best Yet and Bella Toile
Let's start off with a baby card.  Hey, baby cards don't always have to have baby-specific images, right?

Also also features Best Yet :)
And here's another one for good measure, this time in purple because not all baby girls (or their mamas) love pink.

Also features Thank You Kindly
And now for something very bright!  I love these flowers with bold colors.

Also features Bring on the Cake
And maybe a lot of rhinestones.

Also features Full of Life, Sprinkles, and Itty Bitty Backgrounds
I think this one would have been better had I moved down the three flowers just a tiny bit more toward the middle of the card.

And last up, here's a scrapbook layout from our time in Japan.  So yep, I've used Eastern Blooms quite a bit I think.  So here's today's brand new card:

Again with the bright colors, they were this week's Splitcoast color challenge.  The sentiment is from Happy Day, which is on the retirement list.  I'm a little sad about that one actually; I think it's a great little stamp set.  Oh well, it will always have a permanent place in my stamp collection!

The layout is courtesy of Retro Sketches:

When I copied down the sketch I didn't make the top panel scooch over to the right like on the original sketch, so my card is a little bit different.  But hey, I got the banner and the button right!

That's it for me this week.  Have a great weekend and cheers, peeps!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Eastern Blooms, Happy Day
Ink:  Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red
Paper:  Pacific Point, Whisper White, retired Pumpkin Pie DSP, Ski Slope DSP (I think?  It was in my scrap box)
Accessories:  Banner punch, retired Playground button, Whisper White baker's twine

Friday Flashback: A Little Bit of Happiness

Time for another Friday Flashback!  Today's stamp set is A Little Bit of Happiness, which I think might have been a hostess set?  It's from 2008, so that was a while ago and I don't have to know everything about SU all the time.  Here's the one and only card I made with it (at this point I kind of hope it was a freebie so I won't feel so bad for not using it more...):

I know this was for a color/sketch challenge combo on Splitcoast.  I miss Almost Amethyst and Taken with Teal.  We need more purples and teals.  And maybe some more sketches using long, skinny images.  At any rate, this week I made two more cards with this stamp set.

This is one of those Splitcoast sketches that leaves me cold, but at least I can check it off as done.  I like the colors though, Barely Banana, Always Artichoke (I just so tried to type WARTichoke) and Rich Razzleberry.  That's not the full image on the card; I masked with a Post-It note to only get the part of the image I wanted to use.  This one and the next one are both stamped in Chocolate Chip craft ink (why did they retire that?  I love that color in craft ink!) and then embossed.  Helps me stay within the lines when I color that way.

For this one, I stamped the whole image, colored it with a mix of markers and WWC, and then cut it all apart (which I only recommend if a.) you're crazy like me and b.) you like cutting things out).  This is a much simpler sketch since the main image took me so long.  This is the kind of sketch I like, easy breezy beautiful.  Only with stamps and paper, not makeup.  I can't do makeup.

Thanks for joining me for this Friday Flashback!
