Purple Floral Fusion

Hey y'all!  My Tuesday is starting off with a literal bang--we've had severe weather rolling through off and on since last night and it's really been going since about 5:30 this morning.  (Thunder and lightning, very very frightening ME! Not really, I'm not scared of thunderstorms, but I do love me some Queen.)  It seems like it's slacking off a bit now, but it was raining pretty good when I dropped Ryan off at karate camp, I thought I was going to have to blow-dry my hair a second time when I got back to the house.

Anyway, on to today's card.  I still have a handful of brand-new stamp sets that I haven't played with yet, so what did I do yesterday?  I pulled out a set that's been retired for a while and made this:

Wisteria Wishes was a natural choice for the Retro Rubber Challenge:

Isn't that a pretty picture!  When I used to take my doggos for walks in England, we walked past a house that had a big patch of lavender out front and my boy dog would always pee on it, blithely ignoring the bees buzzing all around there.  I kept warning him that he was going to get stung in a very uncomfortable place, but it never happened.  Anyway, our England house also had wisteria growing on the front of the garage and I loved it.  Wisteria Wishes only retired last year (seems like it was longer ago??) but it's been in my stash for about a year and a half so it counts as retro.

I couldn't pass up the Paper Players sketch:

I decided on the Perennial Lavender DSP for my background elements and used Berry Burst as an accent color on the butterflies and the gem embellishments.

I've been scrapping away on pictures from 2021, but after this challenge I wish I had pics printed out from when we visited the lavender fields in Provence in 2022 so I could scrap those.  I'll get around to it one day : )  I am making lots of progress on scrapbook pages so that makes me happy.

It looked like the rain was slacking off but I just saw some more lightning, so I think I might turn off the computer for a while and unplug it just in case there's a lightning strike nearby.  A few weeks ago there was one close to us and while it didn't do anything to my house, my neighbor said it zapped their refrigerator and dryer, and fried the modem of the guy next door to him.  Gotta love spring weather in Texas.  Cheers, y'all!

Countryside Bluebonnets

Mornin' y'all!  I managed to get a bit more sleep last night so I am hoping to get some things done today in my craft room.  I actually have two scrapbook layouts that I'm working on...I was doing the wedding album earlier this year but decided to take a break from that.

Anyway, I have a card to share with the epitome of Texas wildflowers, here it is:

I had to dust off Wisteria Wishes, which retired last year.  I'm entering this at Retro Rubber:

I did the top row, with die cuts (Countryside Corners, new), gems (Foiled Gems, not new), and spring (bluebonnets).  I've had Wisteria Wishes for about a year and a half and I wish I had played with it more when it was current.  Doesn't stop me from breaking it out for challenges now ;) but it is SUCH a neat bundle.

I'm also entering this at the Paper Players:

Bluebonnets are THE spring flower in Texas and I tried to keep it CAS, though the main image panel is pretty large.  So maybe it's CAS-plus?

This card will be going to my husband's grandmother along with a picture of Ryan:

They're all fancy with school pictures here, I could choose from like 8 different backgrounds, but I had to do the bluebonnets since this is his only school year in Texas.

That's it for me today, time for me to get Ryan off to school and then I have a yoga class at the Y.  Cheers!

Tennessee, Part 3: Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Scrappy Monday!  Continuing my series of Tennessee pages, here we are at the national park:

I let the picture with the park sign function as the page title.  And on the right page, that "Bears need privacy, too!" sign was up in the women's bathroom at the park's visitor center, I thought it was funny so I had to take a pic of it.  I really went for the greens on this one with a green page base and lighter green photo mats.  It was a quick and easy layout but I like it.

Today's green-tastic color palette:  Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz, Pretty Peacock, and white.

Until next time, peeps.

Stamps:  Nature's Prints, Wisteria Wishes
Ink:  Pretty Peacock

Wisteria & Bluebonnets

Hey y'all, how's your week going so far?  I didn't get as much done in my craft room as I wanted to yesterday (do I ever?), but I've got most of the day today until Ryan gets off the bus so it's a new day to tackle my goals.  I did make two cards yesterday though:

I was inspired by the Paper Players challenge and one card just wasn't enough : )

I made the wisteria card first:

I was inspired by the Just Add Ink challenge to pull out my Wisteria Wishes set, take a look:

Add black and these are prime Halloween colors, but I toned them down a bit and made them more summery.  Yeah wisteria blooms in late spring/early summer, so I had to have another go for a more springtime flower:

Bluebonnets!  I have lots of friends and family in Texas, and I've already started seeing some bluebonnet photos pop up on Facebook.  I need to play with this stamp set some more, it's so pretty!  And I do love how you can do the flowers in either direction.  Think I need to try some Indian paintbrushes next time.

Have a great day, peeps!

Wisteria Happiness

Mornin' y'all!  I finally played with a new stamp set I bought in November, check it out:

Meet Wisteria Wishes!  I thought it was perfect to go with this week's Paper Players color challenge:

I'll be honest, I would not ever in a million years put Orchid Oasis and Highland Heather together on my own, so I had to think about this for a bit before I landed on the wisteria stamps.  But I do like how it turned out!  We had wisteria growing on the front of the house we had in England:

This was the garage at the front of the house.

I took those pics early in the season, in April 2011; by June most of the front of the house was covered in the vines (no longer flowering) but somehow I neglected to take pictures at that stage.

Anyway, that's it for me today.  Have a great Wednesday!
