Unser Zuhause (Our Home)

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  We are in Colorado right now looking at houses : )  We will be moving to the Colorado Springs area this summer, so we're looking around at different areas and kinda getting a feel for the city.  We've never bought a house before so this is exciting...and also scary!

So for today's scrapbook layout, I thought I'd share pics of the house we rented in Germany:

I'd have to sit here and count up how many houses we've lived in over the course of my husband's career (in five US states and three other countries), but I think this house in Germany and the one we had in England were two of my favorites.  I try to take pictures in and around the houses since we move so often because it's funny how fast you can forget!  So on the left is the entryway to the house, then the living room, dining room and kitchen on the first floor.  On the right page, there's pictures of Ryan's room, the main bathroom/laundry room (there were no en suite bathrooms in this house, so hubs and I had the bedroom directly across from the main bathroom and that is the closest distance between the washer/dryer and where my clothes live out of all the houses we've ever lived in), my craft room, and our bedroom, with several photo bombs by Ryan.  I didn't put pics of the top floor, which had the guest room, a storage room, and one really huge room that we used for the hubs' hobby stuff and more storage, as well as another large bathroom.  I did really like this house.

Today's color palette:  Dapper Denim, Certainly Celery, Cherry Cobbler, Cinnamon Cider, and Very Vanilla.  I chose the paisley DSP because it coordinated with the colors in the kitchen and on my couch, and the pattern echoes the paisley on the comforter in my bedroom.  Very simple layout considering I squeezed in 10 photos with minimal cropping.

Have a great day, y'all!

Ryan Turns 3

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Well, true to my word, I did start working on my wedding album on Friday.  So far it's just planning which pictures to use on each layout, but I've firmed up my color scheme and what papers I'm using, so once I get the pages planned out it should go very quickly.  Hopefully I start getting things stuck down in the next day or two.

Anyway, for today I have a couple of layouts from Ryan's birthday in 2020!

Y'all, he's turning SEVEN this Thursday!  Can't believe it.  Anyway, shortly before his third birthday he suddenly became a big fan of Paw Patrol so that made shopping for him very easy.  As I was working on my 2020 pages last year, I wondered if there were any Paw Patrol stamps out there, and as it happens there are!  I had to have them shipped to my mom and then she sent them to me as the seller wouldn't ship to an APO address, but I got them.  I'm a little sad that Ryan isn't much into Paw Patrol anymore, but what can ya do.

We took him to the local ice cream place which also makes very good cupcakes, and invited a few friends who have kids around Ryan's age so he had a great time.  His big present that year was a Nugget, which is a set of cushions that you can move around to make forts or use as a pallet in front of the TV or whatever.  He still likes playing with that.

Today's color palette is a variation on a Superman theme:  Barely Banana (I'm very glad to have Lemon Lolly in the current color lineup, it's similar to Barely Banana and not muted like So Saffron), Balmy Blue, Real Red, Blueberry Bushel, and white.

We'll be doing a family get-together for Ryan's birthday this Saturday so I'll take lots of pictures for future scrapbook pages.  Cheers!

Stamps:  Pure & Simple Alphabet Upper, Sweets & Treats, Paw Patrol stamps from Melissa & Doug

Tennessee, Part 4: Ober Gatlinburg

Scrappy Monday again already, y'all!  We're still in the Tennessee layouts but this one is a little less green than the last one : )

This whole area is super touristy but we had fun there anyway.  We walked along the main drag and did some shopping in Gatlinburg (which is where I found this book and I love reading it to Ryan as often as he'll let me), and then went on up to Ober Gatlinburg to go on rides and spend too much money on food.  It ain't Disneyland, but it was still fun for all of us.

Today's color palette:  Watermelon Wonder, Granny Apple Green, Pretty Peacock, Cherry Cobbler, and white.  Let me tell you, I had a lot of fun using Watermelon Wonder on this layout : )  It was an In Color years ago and it makes me happy to bring retired colors out to play again on my scrapbook pages.  I thought it lent an air of playfulness to this layout.

Cheers, y'all!  I think I might need to go buy myself a watermelon, even if Ryan won't help me eat it.  Picky weirdo.

Tennessee, Part 2: Meet the Neighbors

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  And I'm ready for it with the second of my Tennessee layouts.  (Sidebar:  I am writing this post on the hubs' laptop, and its little proofreading thingummy is pickier than the one on the Mac.  It keeps giving me random blue lines under certain words and dude will ya just CHILL 'cause I know how to speak AND write in English and you're annoying.)

Anyway.  Here there be BEARS!

We stayed in a cabin outside of Gatlinburg (this is the second time we've done that in this area and I would not say no to going back a third time) and there are signs everywhere about bears.  As in Do Not Feed The.  So we saw two juvenile bears and a mama bear hanging out near our cabin, begging for food we did not give them, and a full-grown bear checking out the trash cans near the cabin that we had stayed in on our first trip to this area.  And as much time as we spent in the national park, we didn't see a single bear there!

I chose "Meet the Neighbors" for my page title but maybe it should have been "Meet the NeighBEARS".  So I wrote that in my journaling.

Oops, I left out a color in my palette picture; the page base is Creamy Caramel which goes really well with Cinnamon Cider (photo mats), and then I also used Pretty Peacock, Pear Pizzazz, and white.

Cheers, y'all!

Tennessee, Part 1: Great Smoky Mountains

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  At the end of this week we'll be leaving Europe and heading back to the States, so today I thought I'd start a series of scrapbook pages from a trip we took to the Gatlinburg area of Tennessee in July of 2020 with the hubs' sister and her fam.  So here's the first layout:

So the long-retired Marina Mist turned out to be the perfect page base for these pics of the Great Smoky Mountains!  A lot of times when I do a series of layouts from a particular trip or event, I'll use the same alphabet stamps and/or the same pack of patterned papers to make the layouts feel like they go together, and this set is no different:  all of them feature the same alphabets as well as the Forever Greenery DSP.  Green is my favorite color, I imagine I could incorporate a shade of green into just about any scrapbook layout if I tried hard enough.

Today's palette:  Marina Mist, Garden Green, Pretty Peacock, and white.  Just as a coincidence, I think I used Pretty Peacock on all the Tennessee layouts and I made them just before SU! announced that Pretty Peacock was returning to the color lineup.  Yay me!

Have a great week, y'all!

Oklahoma, Part 5: Cousins

Scrappy Monday!  And hey hey, we're up to the last layout from the 2019 Oklahoma trip : )

Before we left the cabin, my mom wanted to get a picture of Ryan and his cousins together.  Uh, have you ever tried to get four kids to all behave and look at the camera and smile at the same time?  I think we took like 50 pictures and this is what we got!  I also think it's funny that Ryan is the only one with dark hair.  *singing* One of these things is not like the other ones!  And when we took these pictures, my SIL was pregnant...and yep, *that* cousin is also blond!

Today's color palette:  Cinnamon Cider, Mossy Meadow, Cranberry Crisp, Crushed Curry, and Whisper White.  I reached way way back for that Cranberry Crisp paper, it was from the first year or two of In Colors.  And I wish I'd bought more than just one pack of that Into the Woods DSP because I've used it a LOT on my scrapbooks and I'm about to go into hoarding mode.

Hope you have a good week, y'all!

Oklahoma, Part 4: S'mores

Scrappy Monday!  I'm continuing with the Oklahoma layouts from 2019 when Ryan was much smaller than he is now.  I keep telling him to stop growing but he just won't!

Coincidentally, last week I finished another layout about making s'mores on a different trip :) I chose Daffodil Delight as my page base color because the letters on Ryan's shirt are that color.  I tried Real Red, but decided the red looked better as an accent color instead (the red overpowered everything when I tried it as the page base).  I use a lot of Real Red and Blueberry Bushel on my scrapbook pages now--gotta love the bright colors on kids' clothes, right?

Today's color palette:  Daffodil Delight, Blueberry Bushel, Real Red, Granny Apple Green, Cinnamon Cider, and Whisper White.

Don't forget this also goes along with this week's Paper Players theme challenge!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Pure & Simple Alphabet, Wood You Be Mine?, Eat Chocolate, other stamps by Lawn Fawn
Ink:  Pacific Point, Real Red, Early Espresso, Cinnamon Cider, Cinnamon Cider Blends, Early Espresso marker
Paper:  Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Real Red, Thick Basic White, Berry Delightful DSP

Oklahoma, Part 3: Bubble Blasters

Scrappy Monday on a Tuesday!  And I'm at the halfway point for sharing the Oklahoma layouts.  And this one is fun, look:

My mom brought bubble blasters, which are guns that shoot bubbles.  When she told my dad she got them for the kids, my dad at first thought she meant me, my brother, and our respective spouses--haha, nope!  There's grandkids now!  My niece Clara liked shooting all the bubbles onto the table on the porch and then rubbing them in her hair.

This was a fun color palette, even if this picture is a bit dark:  Magenta Madness, Emerald Envy, Lemon Lime Twist, Soft Sky, and Whisper White.  Love the magenta page base with the mix of greens and blues on the patterned paper.

Cheers!

Oklahoma, Part 2: Oooooklahoma!

Scrappy Monday!  As promised, I'm back with another Oklahoma layout.

I did five layouts for this trip, and I used the same alphabet for all the page titles, and I used patterned papers that all have that kinda watercolor look to them (though not all from the same pack).  This one has the same polka dots pattern I used on the first Oklahoma layout.

Today's color palette:  Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Cinnamon Cider, and Whisper White.  Granny Apple Green and Poppy Parade carried over from the first layout.

Oklahoma, Part 1: One Cool Dude!

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Hope you had a nice weekend.  We spent several hours at the dino park yesterday and Ryan had fun playing in the creek there.  Gorgeous weather, but I think it's going to be a hot summer.

Anyway, let's start the week off with some scrapbook pages!

In July of 2019, we flew out to Texas and then drove up to Oklahoma and spent a week in a giant fancy cabin with both sets of grandparents and our siblings' families.  Ryan was very excited to have his own suitcase (it has dinosaurs on it, we took it to London last month) and when we got to Texas, my mom gave him a pair of sunglasses and taught him to say "I'm a cool dude!"

Today's kid-inspired color palette:  Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, Poppy Parade, Pacific Point, and Whisper White.  I'll be sharing more Oklahoma pages for the next few weeks.

Cheers!
