April 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Hope you had a good weekend.  The hubs is off work and kiddo is off school today so we're going to go see a movie this afternoon.  We had a good Easter yesterday--the hubs talked Ryan out of trying to trap the Easter Bunny because then no one would get treats, so the Easter Bunny was free to leave Ryan a bucket with far too much candy (seriously, Ryan was on a serious sugar high before his parents even woke up yesterday), a couple of books and small toys, and a giant whoopie cushion.  Don't ask me why.  The weather was beautiful yesterday so we went for a bike ride in the afternoon and then had a nice ham for dinner, followed by cherry pie.  Usually I'd make dessert from scratch but I decided to be lazy, and I got a frozen cherry pie at the store for ONE DOLLAR.  No, it's not as good as homemade, but it sure took less time and effort on my part.

Anyway, on to the scrapbook pages!  Today's layout also has to do with food, this time cookies:

Nothing's Better Than and the coordinating Love You More Than dies are both retiring, I don't even know if they've sold out or not because I've owned them for years : )  I just used the dies here, the baking-related stamps on the left page are (gasp) non-SU.  Originally I had a small group of April pictures and then a set of bathtub barber shop pictures and planned to do two layouts, but when I got to them I elected to combine them for one layout.

I'm always looking for color combinations with either Real Red or Poppy Parade because red is Ryan's favorite color and I think at least 75% of his clothes are red.  This combination might have come from the Color Coach, but I think it worked with my photos:  Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, Lucky Limeade, and Whisper White.  You could easily sub in either Granny Apple Green or Old Olive for the Lucky Limeade, which has been retired for a long time.  Anyway, I had fun working on this layout and if I'm lucky, maybe I'll get some craft room time today even with my boys at home.

Have a great day, y'all!

Hot Chocolate Day

Hey y'all, happy Friday!  I spent some lovely time this morning with a giant mug o' tea and this week's new episode of NCIS : )  (Side note if you're also a fan of NCIS:  I puffy heart love Agent Knight.  The cheese puns!  And her and Jimmy together!  Love her.)  The hubs and I rarely get control of the TV, especially since I pretty much go to bed right after Ryan does (those 5:15 wake-up calls are pretty intense).  So I enjoy getting to watch something only I like on occasion.

But after that I had to go in my craft room and make something!  Okay, I worked on a layout first but then I made this:

I was inspired by the Inspired By... challenge : )

I loved that color on the bottom mug, so I used Tranquil Tide, Cinnamon Cider, and Very Vanilla for my colors.  And my mugs have hot chocolate because I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't drink coffee ; )  I used the Inspired By sketch too:

The stamps and coordinating dies are by Newton's Nook.  I'm SUO like 98.5% of the time but every once in a while I have to get something from a different company.  I love the variety of hot chocolate mugs and sentiments in this set, but I have gotten spoiled with SU's dies--for the Newton's Nook ones, they all come hooked together in one piece so I had to bust out the needle-nosed pliers to separate all the pieces.

I'm off to continue making good use of my kid-free time.  I probably *should* do dishes, buuuutttt...I'll do those tomorrow.  For now, my craft room is calling and I must go.  Cheers!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Cup of Cocoa from Newton's Nook
Ink:  Versamark, Early Espresso, Tranquil Tide, Cinnamon Cider
Paper:  Cinnamon Cider, Thick Very Vanilla, Tranquil Tide DSP
Accessories:  Cup of Cocoa dies from Newton's Nook, Stitched Rectangles dies, Dimensionals, Clear EP

Llama Llama, the Coolest Llama

Wooooo it's Friday and I have today off and I got a box of new stamping goodies yesterday!  It's gonna be a fun day in my craft room as soon as I get this blog post written :)

I have a fun card today!

I saw this week's Freshly Made Sketch on Wednesday and feeling completely indecisive about what to make, and then I went to go switch out some laundry and I saw my T-shirt in the mirror and I was like OF COURSE I NEED TO MAKE A LLAMA CARD and then this happened.  I love her.  Here's the sketch:

The llama was big enough that I had to make my card in landscape rather than portrait orientation.  If you're curious, here's the shirt I was wearing, it's one of my favorites:

You know me, I llove a good punny llama, especially an adorable llama with a derpy face.  I also love Chuy's and we'll be having Mexican food as soon as we move back to the States, whenever that is.

Okay, I'm off to go play in my craft room!  Adios, amigos!

Whisk It Good

Hola, amigos!  How's your day going?  I had a pretty good day in my craft room yesterday and got some cards AND scrapbook pages done!  So here's a card for today:

Yep, those are NOT Stampin' Up! stamps!  Every once in a while I buy from other companies and I couldn't resist these baking stamps from Newton's Nook.  I'm sure they'll come in handy for scrapbook pages in the future as Ryan likes to help me bake and cook.

I used the Sunday Stamps sketch:

I enjoy their challenges, though I don't always get the chance to play along.  Same thing goes for Festive Friday:

National Eat What You Want Day is a holiday I can really get behind, ha!  From the inspo list, I used food (uh, what's in the mixing bowl could be cookie dough...or oatmeal...TBH I'd eat either one but I'd go for cookie dough first), birthday, kitchen items, gingham, and pastels, assuming that means pastel colors and not pastels the coloring medium.

Hope you have a great Cinco de Mayo!  We will be making something holiday appropriate to eat for dinner tonight : )  Adios!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Made from Scratch (Newton's Nook)
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin' Blends in Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather, and Ivory
Paper:  Grapefruit Grove, Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather, Thick Basic White, Gingham Gala DSP Stack
Accessories:  Stitched So Sweetly dies, Made from Scratch dies (Newton's Nook), mini Dimensionals

Hot Chocolate Kind of Day

Mornin' y'all!  How's your week going?  Yesterday morning when I left to go to work, I discovered that we had freezing fog, so there was a rime of frost/ice on everything and it was foggy still.  Makes the trees look magical :) and it's also COLD.  So my card for today is all kinds of appropriate!

I bought a couple of stamp sets from Newton's Nook a couple months ago and finally busted out this one out; it's called Cup of Cocoa.  I got the coordinating dies too but I didn't use them today.

I liked the color challenge from The Card Concept:

I used Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce, and Early Espresso for my colors, which just so happened to all be on a piece of the retired Wrapped in Plaid DSP stack (along with Crumb Cake).  I'm going to say my card is in the Clean & Layered style.

I used the sketch from Fusion:

I also kept the coffee/drink theme, but what can I say, I like to use COLORS on my cards and the inspiration pic is a lot of neutrals ;)

Hope you're staying toasty warm, peeps!  I think I'll go make myself a nice cuppa tea...
