Silver clay oh what a day!

This weekend I treated myself to a silverclay course at my little craft shop Craftcandy.

After an hour of playing with polymer clay and trying to get the shape I wanted, several attempts at different shapes later, I settled on this little fellow and decided on adding a texture to his back using a stamp.

Then we opened the silver clay! The texture was much like ordinary clay but spongy at the same time. We had to work super quick to get our pieces put together and use water to bind different parts.
Here he is after being fired in the kiln and brushed with a wire brush. To make him super shiny we used a stainless steel tool to burnish.

I'm so pleased with how he turned out. If you haven't guessed what he is, I made a little turtle :).

Papercrafting, for me a rare sight

I enjoyed a lovely afternoon working with mica sprays and paper at Craft Candy, making paper flowers.

Completed a lovely headband and brooch with my finished flowers, some ribbon, beads and ofcourse wire! I just can't resist working with it now, it's become a part of me. I even had a flower left over.

Here's what I got up to:

Sunday class and lots of making

I had a lovely lady ask me for a private lesson on the Sunday and so here is the finished piece she made, I helped a little with getting all the branches finished. Think she really enjoyed herself and presented the finished tree to her mother for her birthday.

I also made some pieces of my own, having had this fuschia pink wire in my stash for quite some time I wanted to put it to use and so grabbed some cup chain, a lovely clear chaton to wrap. I also created a dreamcatcher style pendant with some clear crystals and wrapped a ring with Lapis Lazuli to go with a necklace that is on display in the window.

We also had a visitor who had bought some clay previously and showed us a manga character he had made using it which was put on display in the window. Doesn't he look cool!

Whilst looking in the window I also saw these adorable little fairies made by a lovely lady named Louise, to match the fairy doors I made for the shop, the pink one even glows in the dark!

To top off the day we even had some delicious hot chocolate of which mine was very happy as the bubbles were multi-coloured :)

Ammonite wrapping class

Having had so many people comment on the Ammonite pendant I made for myself and the Orthocera pendant I was commissioned to complete. This weekend I held a class to teach others how to make it for themselves. I had 4 lovely students, all of whom created a beautiful pendant. 3 of which had never done wirework before which was amazing!

Here are the pieces they made. One student didn't finish but I hope they show us when they do...

I had a gentleman on the class who returned Sunday to complete his pendant as he needed to leave early on the Saturday. Here is his piece before he added the bail, I think he did excellently with the spiralling technique. The last picture is the piece I completed as the demo during the class which now sits in the window on display.

Wire Robin Class

This weekend marked my last class of the year at Craft Candy.

Creating this little happy Robin for the Christmas tree. Even though I only had one student due to the flu and such keeping everyone in bed, it was a fun afternoon and the end result was two little robins.

UTEE class

Had a lovely time teaching UTEE to students at my local craft shop.

Here are the pieces I made on the day as demos. Need to finish them up into pieces for other students to see...
