Sakura Spring Dress

A while back, eons ago in blogger-time, my dear friend Holly over at 504Main held a little giveaway.
She was giving away Silhouette products.
She had shown projects she had done without the cutter but with the products.
They were WAY cool.
You should check out her blog, 504Main to see them!
Well, I have been sitting on the products for a while, contemplating just what to do with them.
Then, I was lucky enough to get a Silhouette and have been singing along with it...
(if you have one, you know it sings, right?)
Then I decided that I really need to try this Heat Transfer Material.
It was in yellow, which is a hard color for me to work with.
It's just not in my general color palette, you know?
Well, I had one of those "Duh!" moments when I was looking through some knits in my stash for another project.
So, I stopped what I was doing, Sorry Hollie, your jeans wont be mended till next week...
Well, I got to work with the Silhouette Studio.
I started with a simple Sakura flower.
Do you know what a Sakura flower is?
Cherry Blossom
I made lots and lots of them.  Rotated them. Made them different sizes.
Then arranged them in the shape of shirt bodice piece.
Then followed the easy-peasy instructions on the Heat Transfer Material.
Then I applied it to my fabric piece.

Can I tell you just how FABULOUS this Heat Transfer Material is??
It is AWESOME!
This is not your craft-store will do for 1 wash stuff.
This stuff is in it for the long kid-wearing/washing haul!
It is nearly effortless at being flawless!
I am a huge fan! And can't wait to get more colors!

So, I was nearly ready to take pictures when my sweet Angel told me it didn't sparkle enough.
So, I got the hotfix crystals out.

Have a look at how it turned out!

Then I got inspired and made a matching fascinator:

Thanks Holly for the fun products! I have the best fun with them!

Easter Hunting

Hello Friends!

Yesterday was a beautiful Easter here!
We had a fun egg hunt and ate wonderful food and had naps.
I could not have asked for a better day!

Here are the pictures of the Easter hunt with AuBrynne in her finished dress
with the finished Glitter Eggs!

I had the dress finished and AuBrynne insisted it needed "sparklys", So out came the Hotfix!

When I was looking for little trinkets for the basket, I happened upon his PERFECT ring!
AuBrynne was tickled to have a Princess jewel!

Easter candies were put into these little cuties and also found in the hunt!

And to answer the questions I know you all  will ask ☺
The dress was made from lavender polyester with a printed lavender nylon overlay, found at Joanns.
The hem was done with woolly nylon and the serger.
It has an invisible zippered closure, which made for a fun hemming job!
The rhinestone buckle came from the bridal area of Michael's.

Sweet Home Chicago

I've told you about my sweet bestie, Hollie, right?
Well, she came to visit me for spring break and we had loads of fun!

Here is a picture of us that my daughter took of us
fyi - I'm impressed with her picture taking skills

We try and take some time to do girly things we don't normally get to do without the kiddos.
Which includes usually includes a craft for each of he kids.
But also includes getting the worlds best pop-corn and girly hair and nails and make-up...

This year we went to look for some Chicago Cubs shirts for her girls.
Wouldn't you know it??
It was the week that the St. Patrick's Day Cubbies gear was on sale.
Normally this would be music to my ears.
But at this point it meant that all the little sizes were already purchased,
leaving regular priced gear, which is totally CRAZY-INSANELY priced.

So, you know what we did.
We got out the freezer paper and rhinestones and made our own Chicago shirts!
If I had the Silhouette at that point, this would have taken nearly NO time.
But, alas, we cut these all by hand then ironed them down.
Then we mixed our acrylic paints and fabric medium and sponged it on.

Each girl got a different font.

Then we arranged the hotfix rhinestones and fixed them on.

Then we dressed up the one Green Cubbies shirt we could find:

Apparently, I neglected to go back and add that last rhinestone -jelly brain....
Hollie, that extra rhinestone is in the mail!
They turned out SO cute!

Hollie just grabbed her phone and sent me some Phone Photos so I can participate in Jennifer's

Have a look at these cuties!

Tomorrow, I will share with you all the jewelry we made!

Donna Reed Was A Witch

Did you know Donna Reed was a Witch?
She had to be!
To get all she got done and still have a smile on her face?!
Donna was the inspiration for BeWitched, I swear!
Anyway, The Donna Reed Show was, and still is, one of my favorites.
So, I decided that I would be The "Real" Donna Reed for Halloween this year...

Candy-Corn Anyone?

Many of you have made Candy-Corn outfits.
In fact, the ladies over at Someday Crafts, have a cute little link party going on called
It's dedicated to, you guessed it -All crafts Candy-Corn related.
And guess what?!
I just happen to have one of those!
I was getting ready to post this and stumbled into the party!
So, I'm linking it up there.
If you haven't done so, you should hop over there and do the same.

So, here is our newest dress.
I started with white cotton/spandex knit.
I thought for a moment about dyeing some fabric to orange and yellow.
Then, decided that would be pretty run of the mill.
So, I pulled out some wholly-nylon and some hotfix jewels
(have I told you that I'm actually in love with these?)
and went to town.

And it turned out so cute!
It's pretty Mod.
And she wanted a matching hair-do-dod too.
So, she got one of those too.

I am also linking this little confection up HERE!
