Making It With Allie - Personalized T-shirts

Hello Friends!!
I am glad to see you all!
It has been super crazy around here lately.
My bestie was in town and we had WAY too much fun.
Well, most of it anyways.
We did lots of training -that is until I injured my darn self.
And we even got a couple of projects it!
Here is a quick look at the t-shirts we made for Hollie's girls.
The Cameo got a good workout and we were able to go to my favorite supply store:

First up, Ashlyn.
She wanted an acoustic guitar and neon pink shirt.

We used Turquoise EasyWeed for this graphic.

This one wrapped around to the back.
Kinda cute, eh?

Next, Sammy.
Sam wanted an electric guitar and neon green

I LOVE the metallic heat transfer!
This one is Cherry!

Pretty cute!
Next is Sophi.
Sophi has recently had braces added to her cute smile.
So, she wanted this cute saying:

This graphic used three products:

Love it!
Last, but not least, Lainey.
Lainey wanted a soccer ball.
So, we girlie-fied it.

This one used both

Both of decided that we couldn't choose which was our favorite.
So, we must have done something right...
The girls LOVED them.
I can't wait to see photos of them in them!

AND.  Because I know some of you will email me and ask me this....
Hollie's nail color is from  Entity Couture1 called "Electric Runway".

Now, it's time for the

Making It With Allie - Lucky Girl

I have a Lucky charm every day.
Not just on St. Patrick's Day.
Her name is AuBrynne.

Yesterday, when AuBrynne and I sad down to decide what her  St. Patrick's Day outfit should be,
she had some pretty specific ideas, and I knew JUST what to put on her shirt!
She wanted a sporty but girly "lucky" dress.

So, I whipped out my finicky Silhouette, fabrics and serger.
And we threw this little number together.

I used three types of heat transfer for the sporty graphic.
And finally, I applied some Orange Flocked Heat Transfer

Ok, I just had to put this little photo in... they don't call it the Windy City for nothing!
The wind kept blowing  her hair ALL over the place...

I think it turned out pretty cute. She likes it.
I think I might need one for myself.
It should be pretty easy, now that the cut file is done.
If anybody would like the cut file, leave me a note and I can send it to you!

Now, it's time for the

Making IT With Allie - My Biggest Cubs Fan

 Hello friends!
First, I want to announce the winner of last week's contest from
Release Me Create!

Alexis
Maureen from Release Me Create will contact you!
Congratulations!

And to get the party started, I want to share my latest project!
You know the type of person who is SO hard to gift for?
You know the type -if they want it, they get it before you have a chance to surprise them...
Well, my biggest Cubs Fan is VERY much like this.
And it is his birthday this weekend.
And that basically means it's a holiday...
So, I REALLY had to put my thinking cap on to figure the right gift out...
So, as I am trying to think of ideas for his (and my brother's and my father's birthdays who all fall within 5 days of each other) I found this fabulousness:

This is probably THE perfect gift, as he is a Cubs FAN-atic.
This one loves the Cubs so much he can be found at Wrigley on most nice summer days, taking in a good game. But who doesn't love a good Cub's game, right?
But the price tag on this baby was out of my budget.
AND, it was not handmade by Me.
So, I had to figure a way to make something like this for him.
That is when my mind got going and I pulled out my Silhouette and started to make my own version.
Instead of layering and screen printing (which I don't have those fun tools...)
I used canvas and heat-transfer and some painted dowels.
It was REALLY fun.
The one I did is a bit different, but I think it has a similar feel.
And now since I have figured the perfect gift, what on earth am I going to do next year??

Back-to-School Girly Backpack

I am jumping for joy and excited!
Do you know why?
School has started and I can get back to making stuff and blogging!
YAY!
Are any of you taking a big sigh of relief at having a moment to even think, let alone get things back into a normal rhythm?
I hope you are! Even those of you with first time little ones out the door - the sad "my little one is already going to school" moment will pass.
I promise.

So, little AuBrynne hopped on the bus to her first day of Pre-K class at our local elementary.
And she does this without hesitant! She doesn't even meed me!
I knew this would be the case, as she had been asking me for 93 straight days, when she could go back to school.
When we were getting her school supplies ready, the list called for a "large backpack".
Ok. Cool. Until you start looking for one and you have basically two options:
-the dreaded obnoxious character plastered all over; or
-cute, but priced way out of budget.

So, I decided that I could make a backpack with super cute fabrics and some iron on vinyl.
So, I did.
I found some cute fat quarter packs that little AuBrynne LOVED, and melted the iron on vinyl to all but one of the fat quarter pieces.
Then I cut them in to three inch strips and sewed them all together into one piece and then top-stitched all the seams open.
After all that, I cut all the pieces of the backpack out and assembled it.
For the back, I sandwiched cushioning between the outside and the lining and then quilted the piece.
I also left the straps without the vinyl coating and also made them super cushioned for comfort.
The applique was done with two pieces that I cut with my Silhouette SD and a 60° blade.
I layered them together and used a blanket stitch on my machine to go around all of the edges.

I think it all turned out super cute!
And AuBrynne loves it!

The bus comes RIGHT at lunch time, so she finished as she waited ♥

Making It With Allie - Bazinga! Birthday

I have been pretty M.I.A. lately.
But school's out and the weather here is pulling us to fun outside activities!
I hope you all are getting the chance to do the same!

Last week my cousin had a birthday.
Miss AuBrynne so sweetly decided he was either turning 5 years old.
I hope she is so generous with me for my birthday!

So, I made my cousin some t-shirts for his present.
And when it was time to open presents, he was extatic and was hoping for more t-shirts!
I have told you all before how we are a proud Geek-family...
Well, my Aunt Shelley and I decided that the shirts the Sheldon wears on Big Bang Theory are the best.
So, what better to make him some Sheldon shirts, right?

Here they are!

AuBrynne was so excited to make him a special Birthday card!

We decided this is awesome for Paul, as he is the King of Sarcasm

This is a 73 shirt. 73 is the best number.  Do you know why? Sheldon explains:
"The best number is 73. Why? 73 is the 21st prime number. Its mirror (37) is the 12th and its mirror (21) is the product of multiplying, hang on to your hats, 7 and 3. ... In binary, 73 is a palindrome, 1001001 which backwards is 1001001."

This was my first attempt at "layering" heat transfer. I'm not sure that is the correct terminology, as none of the heat transfer is actually on top of the other...  It's more of a way of cutting the heat transfer and then cutting the "negative".
We all had a super fun day for Paul's "5th" Birthday!

Sakura Spring Dress

A while back, eons ago in blogger-time, my dear friend Holly over at 504Main held a little giveaway.
She was giving away Silhouette products.
She had shown projects she had done without the cutter but with the products.
They were WAY cool.
You should check out her blog, 504Main to see them!
Well, I have been sitting on the products for a while, contemplating just what to do with them.
Then, I was lucky enough to get a Silhouette and have been singing along with it...
(if you have one, you know it sings, right?)
Then I decided that I really need to try this Heat Transfer Material.
It was in yellow, which is a hard color for me to work with.
It's just not in my general color palette, you know?
Well, I had one of those "Duh!" moments when I was looking through some knits in my stash for another project.
So, I stopped what I was doing, Sorry Hollie, your jeans wont be mended till next week...
Well, I got to work with the Silhouette Studio.
I started with a simple Sakura flower.
Do you know what a Sakura flower is?
Cherry Blossom
I made lots and lots of them.  Rotated them. Made them different sizes.
Then arranged them in the shape of shirt bodice piece.
Then followed the easy-peasy instructions on the Heat Transfer Material.
Then I applied it to my fabric piece.

Can I tell you just how FABULOUS this Heat Transfer Material is??
It is AWESOME!
This is not your craft-store will do for 1 wash stuff.
This stuff is in it for the long kid-wearing/washing haul!
It is nearly effortless at being flawless!
I am a huge fan! And can't wait to get more colors!

So, I was nearly ready to take pictures when my sweet Angel told me it didn't sparkle enough.
So, I got the hotfix crystals out.

Have a look at how it turned out!

Then I got inspired and made a matching fascinator:

Thanks Holly for the fun products! I have the best fun with them!
