Making It With Allie - A Quilt for Theodore

Hello friends!
I had such a busy week last week, I only JUST realized that I totally missed last week!
Please forgive me?

Earlier this year, a very dear friend of mine, Stacee, asked me to make a quilt for one of the athletes she trains.
They would be welcoming a beautiful baby boy into their home, and this would be a gift.
To begin, Stacee showed me a quick video of the nursery.
I can't find the video at this point, but it was SO cute!
Gray painted walls with white trim and then adorable mod birch tree decals.
All around were cute little woodland animal plushies.
SO cute.  I must say.

So, Stacee and I worked together to prepare a fitting quilt that had some great sensory woodland animals.
It worked out really well.
Each little animal has a different texture.
And I was even able to make some birch tree silhouettes with some white heat transfer and black satin.
Have a look!

The little fox was appliqued with layers of furry wool.

The tree frog is appliqued satin.

The little hedge-hog baby is layers of satin with blanket stitch for some texture.

The little baby quail is layers of textured satin.  I wish the texture showed up in the photo...

The little owl is wool with a satin beak.

The little bunny rabbit is eyelash plush.

I love this little doe with the spots and a touch of pink in the ear.
The little raccoon is layered satin with lots of stitch texture.

So, this week, after little baby Theodore's name has been settled on, Stacee brought me the blanket, and the birth information was embroidered on the bias binding.
I blurred out his last name for anonymity, but I did want to show you the fantastic font called
Wade Grotesque Casual Swash.
It's one of my favorites and I think it works perfect with the mod quilt.

The reverse is super soft plush in teal.
I love the stuff.
I know the ladies at the cutting counter hate when I have it in my cart.
But kids just LOVE the stuff!
It worked out well, I think!
What do you all think?

Now, it's time for the

Making It With Allie - Easter 2012 - A Quilt

So, you know how last week, I promised to have Miss AuBrynne's Easter Dress ready to show you?
Yea, I am hemming the tiers just now when I remember that tonight is Wednesday and the baby is in bed...
So, I didn't get pictures of her in it.
You will have to stop by next week to see it.
But one of the projects I DID finish this week was a quilt for one of my gal-pal's little boy.
He wanted a cuddly, cars and trucks themed quilt.

So, I went to work to make him a snuggly he could even play with his race cars...
When I brought it to him, he was TOO cute for words about it.  I'm SO glad that he's happy!

Making It With Allie - Valentine's Festivities

Hello Friends!

We have been very busy around here -getting ready for Valentine's Day.
And of course, the sickness that's been making its way around our elementary, found it's way into our home.
I HATE "the crud".  Really hate it. No more than anybody else does.
But more than I hate mice, but less than spiders...
Anyways, we made it through Valentines.
I wanted to share a few of the fun things we were able to have done for Valentines.

Remember, my "AYNIL Quilt" from a couple of weeks ago?

Well, I made some coordinating pillows for it!
And I LOVE them!
 They are reversible.

Then, AuBrynne and I prepared her Valentines.
She made EVERY decision on how these babies turned out.
And SHE decided they needed to be done on my "machine", aka: Silhouette SD.
And they turned out CUTE!

These are the cookies she decorated.
You should have seen her decorating them with a mask and gloves so she wouldn't get anybody sick!

AuBrynne chose THESE as her favorites.  They might be mine too!
How was all of your Valentines?

Now, it's time for the
Making It With Allie Party!

Making It With Allie - AuBrynne Lou Who

Hello Friends!
What have you been up to this last week?
Getting ready for Valentines Day??
We have around here, but today I am going to share with you a quilt my daughter, AuBrynne "commissioned" me to make for her.
I just LOVE this kid!
SO, AuBrynne just LOVES the Dr. Suess story about the Grinch.
She would watch both the animated version and the Jim Carey version and read the book and play the nook app 3 times a day if I let her.
So, when we were at one of my favorite fabric stores last week, she spotted this Grinch fabric.
It was on sale, so I grabbed a yard thinking I would quickly make her a pillow case.
But then, we were picking plush fabric out for another project and she said, "Hey! I think this Pink fabric would be great with my Grinch fabric."
I first, was like, "My name is Mom, or Allie, not hey..." and silently I looked at her as if she had two heads. She looks at me like that all the time when I ask her not to leave her pj's on the bathroom floor every morning after bath.  It's her turn.
But, I grabbed some plush for her.
She decided at that point, I was making everyone else a quilt, she needed one too.
Well, later I decided we had gone this far with letting her choose the fabrics, why not let her do the rest.
So, she chose another 11 fabrics to go in her quilt.
Great.
So, I got to work, whipping this together for her.
Then, she said her name needed to be on it "All Sparkly"
Great.
But, I am Wonder-Woman, I can do anything, right?
Ok, So I grabbed some white flock heat transfer and this SUPER Fantastic Pink Soft and flexible glitter heat transfer and layered in on.
It turned out AWESOME!!
It's perfectly whimsical and cuddly and AuBrynne made the most perfect choices!
I am SO pleased with it!

She even chose the rounded corners!

I hope you can see the fun wavy quilting lines!

And after the heat transfer was added, she said it needed pink stitching around the letters.
And you know what???
She is is EXACTLY right, Little Miss Smarty-Pants!

So, I'm in love with it and love to cuddle with her under it!

Now, it's time for the

Making It With Allie: All You Need Is Love

Hello friends!
Note to Self: Remember to hit "Publish" to actually post.... I'm tired and busy....
Sorry this didn't get up earlier!

How are you all doing?  I hope well! And crafty!
I have been sewing up a storm and preparing some patterns for classes locally.
My bloggy bff, Jenn and many of you lovelys have encouraged me to start an Etsy store.
And I think I'm going to get one going!
Yay! I think...

So I have been working to get things together to have in the store.
The first is going to be this lovely wall hanging.

I wish glitter showed up better in photos...
But the lettering is glitter heat transfer and flocking!
I love it!
I'm going to sell kits that are pre-cut to make the wall hangings and quilts and also the patterns.
The quilts and wall hangings will also be for sale completed, for those who don't have the time to make it themselves.

So, what do you think??
Anybody have any suggestions for fun shop names?
Do you think it needs be the same as my blog? Or Coordinate?

Now, it's time for the
Making It With Allie Party!
