Check out our new design

I am sure some of you have already noticed the Library's web site has a new look and feel.

Of particular excitement to me is the ability to search for databases, research guides and eventually webcasts (this is still in progress)  using keywords.  You can still browse our databases by topic and alphabetically.

Check out the new search feature  . . . and the rest of the new site and tell us what you think.  Use the comments below or stop by and chat with your favorite Reference librarian.

Holiday Movies Online

There is nothing like a holiday movie to start off the season right.  Mashable has a list of 14 holiday movies you can watch online here.

Some of their titles are questionable: Is Die Hard a holiday movie, just because it happens during a Christmas party?  Nevertheless, many classics are listed, such as Elf and A Christmas Story, along with live links to several options for viewing them online. Pick your favorite and enjoy!

Einstein Archives Online Relaunch

"Albert Einstein wrote famously that imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge, he said, was limited. "Imagination encircles the world."
...
“Knowledge is not about hiding, it is about openness,” Hebrew University President Menahem Ben-Sasson said at the launch of a new public website that archivists hope will soon provide easy access to all of Einstein’s personal and professional writings.

The archive, which is made of more than 80,000 documents spanning Einstein’s 76-year life, includes manuscripts of his scientific and nonscientific writings, his correspondence with scientific and nonscientific colleagues, and writings with friends and family." (See more at CNN.com here)

"The Einstein Archives Online Website provides the first online access to Albert Einstein’s scientific and non-scientific manuscripts held by the Albert Einstein Archivesat the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, constituting the material record of one of the most influential intellects in the modern era. It also enables access to the Einstein Archive Database, a comprehensive source of information on all items in the Albert Einstein Archives." (See more at the Einstein Archives Online here)

New Library Website Tour

Do you need some guidance on where to find articles, how to use the online catalog, or how to locate past exams? Could you use a quick refresher on finding resources for term papers or how to use Journal Finder or WorldCat? That's easy--just take the guided webcast tour of the Library's website. In the new Fall 2010 website tour, a reference librarian walks you through the resources and features of the redesigned Law Library main page and how to use some of the most popular databases for law school research. You can go directly to the website tour from the "Online Library Website Tour" link in the Instruction section of the main page. Before beginning the webcast, be sure to increase the volume so that you can hear the tour clearly. If you have more questions or want to dig deeper into any of the resources, just ask for help at the Reference Desk.

Supreme Court Justices on Writing and Advocacy

Get insights from the top jurists in the country about what makes for good legal writing and advocacy. On LawProse, Inc, you will find interviews of eight Supreme Court Justices in which they discuss what they find persuasive and what they wish attorneys would avoid. These interviews were done in 2006-2007 by Bryan Garner, editor-in-chief of the last two editions of Black’s Law Dictionary.
