Red, white, blue birthday

A simple birthday card, using an old (1993) SU stamp - I have no idea which set.  The DP came from my scrap folder, and I added Cheery Lynn flowers and white rain drops.  Classy Cards sells some Cheery Lynn flowers, but I don;t think these are in their store.  They do sell several lovely sets of rain drops - I only have a few with me this summer and I do not recall which set these clear ones come from

Pastel birthday

Whew!  I actually did a Mojo Monday challenge on Monday - and early, at that!
Supplies:  Tattered Lace floral panel die;  stamp by All Night Media; gel pens; Embossalicious HB folder (6x6); washi tape; Petaloo flower, gem, CheeryLynn branch die.  Note:  I originally placed the floral panel directly on the HB panel, but it made it look too busy, so I backed it with a plain pink panel.  I also backed the washi tape with white cs.

Lots of glitter

This is a first for me - until now I have only used sprinkles of glitter.  However, I saw this technique today and had to try it.  I have become addicted to a new series of shows - Create and Craft is on 5 hours a day on our DirectTV.  Many of the shows feature paper crafting - kind of a Home Shopping show with demos.  Now I have even more ideas and even less time to try them!  At any rate, a demo today showed placing a layer of liberal amounts of glitter beneath a die cut.  I did not have the same tools, of course, but I think I like the result with what I had.  This is a new to me Tattered Lace panel die.  I cut the die, then at the end placed the cut out back in the opening.  Meantime, I measured the opening.  I used some sticker paper cut to that size, and adhered it to the base in the right location, sticky side up. I alternated patches of gold, lavender, and red glitter on the sticky paper.  In retrospect I think I should have had a bit less gold and more of the others.  I added the sizzix sentiment and punched butterflies - with sprinkles of glitter.   I would really appreciate any suggestions.
May all of you have a most blessed Easter, rejoicing in the knowledge of the Resurrection of Jesus.

Chalked floral

My Card

Cornelia's inspiration card
My card (top) is inspired by a couple of Cornelia's cards for this month - at Stamplorations.  If you look through my blog you will see several versions of this embossed floral card.  This time, I printed the sentiment on my computer - positioning it so that I could cut a panel the right size to emboss.  The font I used is called Jokerman.  It is probably the first time I used it - but I liked the unusual look.
I used powdered chalk to sponge the embossing as well as the edges of the panel. TIP:   I used another favorite technique - I cut the embossed panel with a very dull blade I keep for this purpose - it gives just a bit of distress to the edges and is easy-peasy!  Oops - the smudge above the sentiment is NOT on the card!

Easter Blessings

My Easter stamp is missing, but I think the Cheery Lynn Blessings die works - this card is for Easter.  The stamp is Cross and Blossoms by Paper Inspirations; I used a strip of shiny metallic gold that I have had for several years, the bg (the Lord's Prayer) is from Faith by Paper Studio; the mat is a shimmery burgundy.  I added a bit of Stickles to the blossoms - you probably can't detect it here.

Using gears

The Darice Steam Punk embossing ( a new item for me)  has been inked with Walnut stain, using a make up sponge.  The die cut circles are a recycled piece - the corrugated heavy paper was between two glass custard cups I got at Dollar Tree.  I saved them as I knew I would find a way to use them.  I also sponged the edges.  Other supplies:  Cuttlebug Thank You from Olivia alpha die set; plastic clips; recycled bit of ribbon - not sure where it came from!  The over all look is Tim Holtz inspired.  I wanted to have a masculine card - it is a bit dark, and I used the black just for contrast on the photo.

High Hopes Guest design

This is the card I created as the guest designer for High Hopes.  This stamp is called Snoozin' Sam - a perfect image for a number of friends LOL!  I used Prismas and gel pens to color.  The backing is from the adventure pad by My Mind's Eye.  I finished with a bit of Washi tape and twine.

AI Pop Ups

I just bought the AI pop ups sets - I had not realized how many cards I could make - probably over 100 with all the sets!  There will be a lot of them displayed here.  This is from Set 1 - I only used two of the main images. They will be fun and easy to use.  I must admit that I did a little extra - I roughly traced around the main image, on white cs, and quickly cut inside the lines - to create a stuffer backing for the pop up.  Since I was not too concerned about being exact, it only took a couple of minutes, and added some sturdiness. The inside verse:  Things could be worse.  we could be trying on bathing suits.  (the black bg is for the photo only)
Also new - the HB folder by Embossibilites.  It is 6x6 so can be used in either landscape or portrait formats, and allows a bit of a choice as to which part to place on the card.
One of my resolutions is to also use up some old supphttp://sweet7challenge.blogspot.com/lies - I have had these brads for several years!  The sentiment is from a library stamp by American Crafts.  The oval is cut with Spellbinders Majestic Elements.  For the strip I used a bit of polka dot washi tape on the orange cs.

Coffee rules

This is a pre-colored digi from Dearie Dolls - she has so many cute freebies!  I have no "coffee" sayings, so I did a Google search for "free coffee quotes" and found several sites, including a pretty complete thread at SplitCoastStampers.  Thanks, everyone! It is pretty hidden, but I embossed the backing to the sentiment with part of a folder that includes hearts.  In addition to the new digis, the heart ribbon is brand new.  The other strip is probably an antique - it came in a box of trims I got at an estate sale  Everything else is from my stash.

Any one ready for spring?

We in AZ have not suffered with the winter weather like some parts of the US - and the rest of the world, too.  However, the forecasters are predicting rain for the  Phoenix Open and many of the Super Bowl festivities - probably a nightmare for organizers and fans.
The Polkadoodles challenge is to case a card - I am not sure if this is close enough - I used the card by DT member Alex at Sketch Saturday for a great deal of inspiration (especially colors), though my papers and stamps were not the same.  I used the Sunburst stencil from Stamper's Anonymous for the sentiment bg, and then dry embossed the entire bg layer.  The double sided DP is by Craft n' Craftin, and the bottom strip is Washi tape.  All but the card base and bg layer were cut from scraps.  I used chalk for the stencil, and ink for the sponging on the Especially for You.  I added a few Cheery Lynn branches to back up the flowers.  THe vine at the left is shiny cs, and I added bling to the flowers.

Easel #6 - open view

One of these days I will learn how to do photos!  Please use your imagination... The easel part rests on the stems of the branches (at the top) - this one, to me, looks much better IRL, in the easel position.  Glitter added to the snowflakes.  The image is by Santa Rosa, and the Rejoice by Stampabilities.  The branches are Cheery Lynn dies.  The silvery tabs are a metallic loopy ribbon, and the glittery silver star is from a packet of embellishments.

Easel #5

This is another in a series of easel cards I am making for family - similar, but not identical.  Hard to see but I used the shimmery aubergine cs for the base and mat glittered the snowflake embossing and punches that are the "stops" for the open easel.  There are bits of white lace for the tabs at the left of the image - looks like they are not visible here (See sketch).   Stamp by Stampendous.

Another easel - closed view

I am making several easel cards - they are similar but usually follow different sketches.  This is a closed view - the row of punched branches (Cheery Lynn) serves as a "stop" for the open card. I added a strip of Washi tape at the bottom of the inside layer. The inside is stamped with a Rejoice stamp - it can be seen in previous posts.   The top layer is bordered in black, and has a layer of Distressed Stripes embossing.  The main image is called a Far Voyage by Stampendous; the sentiment is by SU - not sure what set.

Congrats, Adrienne

You may have seen a number of cards for our grandkids.  This is a particularly special one.  Our youngest, a HS senior, just heard that she has earned early admission at the Air Force Academy.  Needless to say, we are beyond excited!  A bonus is that they live about 25 miles away!  This is one of the many logos I found on line - I suspect I will be using more in the next few years.  The DP is from a pack I have had for several years - probably DCWV.  The Congrats is from a Cuttlebug sentiment plate.
I can never think of items for alphabet challenges, but I think I have four of them here:  (4 from Blessings) -

For Brother-in-law

This is for my brother-in-law, DH's twin. He is recovering after problems with an artificial heart valve, and implantation of a pace maker. He has had numerous health problems, and at age 82 we are concerned. Hopefully this will give him a lift! He was a wheat farmer so I thought that bg paper would work for him. The 3 gems and the mesh for the circle have been in my stash for several years, and the DP is at least a year old.

4 legged friend

Last week my neighbor had a yard sale and was getting rid of her stamps.  She had dozens of teddy bears - if my stamp collection were not already way too large I could have added a few dozen more!  I did choose this one - the label is Art Impressions, 1996 - it probably qualifies as a vintage stamp!  I colored him with chalk pencils and glitter pens.  The bg is dp by Recollections, and the herringbone stripe is a double row of washi tape.  The teal strip is dry embossed for texture, and I added some sequins for a bit of bling.  The butterfly is silver - really misleading on this photo!

Traditional Christmas

Creating a traditional Christmas card is second nature - nearly all of mine are traditional with a message reminding us of the importance of the first Christmas.  I think this stamp is by Santa Rosa, and the sentiment is a yard sale find from today - by Stampoori (dated 1995!).  I used the last scrap of this ribbon (it has a metallic edge), some pearls,  and the Cuttlebug snowflake EF.  The star is enhanced with glitter.

We are so blessed and need to express this every day!
This image is from my wish RAK (Splitcoaststampers) echange stash - don't know the origin.  The ribbon is from Pizzazz Aplenty, DP is a gift, the black stripe is a Dazzles sticker.  The Thankful sticker (epoxy?) is also from my stash.  I used two of my go-to dies from Cheery Lynn - leaves from Leafy Border, and Blessings.
