DT card - ATG for QKR Stampede Challenge #289 - Butterfly

We hope you will join us for this week"s anything goes challenge at QKR Stampede.  You may enter as many as 3 times to win some images - the deadline is 6 pm EDT Thursday.  I used the QKR image called Butterfly.  To me, the butterfly and DP look like spring.  I cut the butterfly wish scissors - actually, there are two of them.  For the one on the bottom, which is also colored, I left a tiny white border and outlined in black.  I also curled it a bit for a dimensional effect.  The flowers are from a Stampin Up punch, with jewel centers.  The scalloped borders and sentiment are Hot off the Press stickers.

SplitCoastStampers Teapot Party #489

I have some serious catching up to do with the TeaPot Tuesday RAK challenges at SplitCoastStampers.  I used to be a regular, but have been more of an occasional participant recently.  I need to do better.  This card goes to Martina whose sister, her last family member, recently died, and Martina is lonely.  I used her favorite colors and another favorite, a butterfly.  This scripture, from TLC, seems appropriate.  Information on the TeaPot Party can be found here.

Sympathy for Evelyn

We belatedly learned that a friend of ours had lost her son during the summer.  It seems a bit late to send a sympathy card, so I made this one to let her know we are thinking of her.  I used some DP from my stash, and embossed the mocha piece with my Victoria embossing folder.  The Blessings is from a Cheery Lynn die, and the butterflies are punched.  Even though the loss of a loved one is a sad occasion, Evelyn shares the belief that we have a glorious life to look forward to.  Edited:  I should have added that her son was middle aged.

SCS Dare to Get Ddirty - Butterfly sympathy for Flynn family

I am catching up here, adding cards that have been on my SplitCoastStampers gallery since 8/8.
This uses the Darice embossing folder and a Kanban butterfly.  Unfortunately, I need to use it now.

CAS in red, white, blue

I placed a full sized red layer under the top of the card, to cover the back of the embossing, and to show through the punched edge (Fiskars).  Embossing - Cuttlebug stylized flowers; butterfly die - Cheery Lynn; 7Gypsies sentiment, glitter on the tiny flower topped with a gem; blue cs for the mat and the butterfly.

Norma is 90 - Step card with Kanban papers

I recently purchased a fairly large pack of papers by Kanban.  They are elegant -  black, gold, cream, white, and I am enjoying finding ways to use them.  I am also trying to discover ways to make step cards, using purchased pre-cut card bases.  (Next, I need to learn how to upload pictures rather than scans!).  For this card, I used a 4.25 x 5.5 piece.  I cut the edge strip on either side, and used for the edge of this card.  The remaining center section provides a background for the butterfly, and is the card that is raised when the step card is displayed.  There were 2 left over 1x1 pieces, and they are on the part that folds under.  I used letter dies for the special greeting at the bottom.  The large butterfly is a part of the Kanban collection.    For the inside - I used a coordinating piece and cut it to fit the inner part.  I used shimmery  cs for the computer generated sentiment. I distressed with Tim Holtz distress ink.  I hope you will let me know what you think.

Black, white, red

Recipe:   Various DP & CS;  Spellbinders Majestic elements (oval dies); unknown digi; Petaloo glittery flowers, shiny gems; Marvy Butterfly punch; gel pens, Pizzazz Aplenty dragonfly brad;  glitter.  Note - I added a bit of glitter for each leaf/flower I colored - before the ink dried.  Just enough glitter adhered to add a bit of shimmer. Sorry, I know it does not show on the screen.

Simple sympathy

I like to keep a few sympathy cards on hand - for my own use and also for friends who seem to rely on my stash!  I used this Darice embossing folder - I think you can see I selected lilac cs with a white back, so there is a subtle white shading on the embossing.  I added a Cheery Lynn butterfly, which I cut twice - purple and shimmery champagne (that is also the card base).   Not much of the purple is visible, but it adds dimension.

Mixed dies for Deb

I have been wanting to experiment with this new die set from Couture Creations - the Mariposa Collection.  The border at the left is cut from the shimmery burgundy layer.  The butterfly and small branch are also part of the set.  Birthday is from a Sizzix Happy Birthday die, and Blessings is by Cheery Lynn.  All of these are cut from silver shimmer cs (Recollections).  I added white half pearls (Pizzazz Aplenty).  Oh, yes, I added a second layer for the butterfly - in champagne, offset slightly.  If anyone has seen tutorials for using these dies please let me know!   This is for our daughter - her birthday is later this week.  She will be visiting, along with our son-in-law and granddaughter.

Heat embossed butterfly

I seldom use my collection of embossing powders, so appreciate a challenge to get me going!  I used silver embossing powder to give the butterfly a more elegant look.  In addition, I used a technique rare for me- fussy cutting.
Supplies:  Paper Studio dp, Costco black handmade paper; Cuttlebug birthday folder, also seldom used scalloped rectangle dies; MFP butterfly stamp.

butterfly

This butterfly die cut came in a kit - with some of these papers.  I used a punch for the white strip, and the gold diagonal is the negative from a sheet of narrow gold stickers.  The circles are from Spellbinders. I added a sentiment after I put the image in my folder. The stickers, ribbon and gems have been in my stash for a long time, and the butterfly and papers are new.

Purple and cream

This lovely image is from a website that has antique freebies (antiqueimages.com)- so many lovely choices.  I used cream and purple to show it off, with a bit of lace and a couple of pearls on the butterfly.  The embossing ius Sylized flowers.

butterfly with blue

I tried a new technique with these opulent oval dies from spellbinders - I used some thin metallic gold paper under the oval.  The sentiment is also under the cut out - does not really show here.  I am trying to use some of my huge supply of "gift"items, so I have not credit - other than the butterfly which is from Annie's kits (also a gift).
