HB, Leah

Our 20 something granddaughter was in Peru a few weeks ago, and fell in love with llamas.  I found this cute image on line - perfect with the pink/purple coloring.  The purple polka dotted cs is white on the reverse side - perfect for printing the verse on the inside.  I added some sequins and glitter for a bit of sparkle.  The die cuts are from Spellbinders.

christmas 2018 - Nativity

Da'sy 5 of Beccys challenges is to use colors - custard, moss, bisque and cocoa.  I think the colors in the plaid (by Paper Studio) are at least close. I have used a pre colored image from Beccy's Place, and a sentiment from my computer files.

Hearts for a TeaPot party RAK

Here is another card for the TeaPot party at SplitCoastStampers - we have a weekly challenge to send some one cheer.  I am way behind, and will use this for one of the past recipients.
The image is by Scribbles and the sentiment by QKR Stampede - though I may swap that out, depending on the situation.  I colored the hearts with various shades of Twinkling H2O inks, and used a Spellbinder Labels 4 die cut as back up.  The paper is by Paper Studio.  I think this fits as a Valentine/love greeting.

SCS Dare to Get Ddirty - Butterfly sympathy for Flynn family

I am catching up here, adding cards that have been on my SplitCoastStampers gallery since 8/8.

Sympathy #1

I am making a series of sympathy cards using this tree from "Lovely as a Tree" by Stampin' Up.  It is an older set but a favorite.  Since these cards all go to guys in their 50s, and who live in in a wooded area, I thought this would be appropriate.  The bg is dry embossed with Cuttlebug's vine folder. The sentiment is by Paper Inspirations.

SCS Falliday Fest - trying Bokeh

This challenge, part of the 2 week long Falliday Fest at SplitCoastStampers, is to use the Bokeh technique - with a twist.  The twist is to use the white highlights only outside the chosen shape.  I colored the entire piece with watered down blue reinker.  I then masked stars, sponging white ink around them for a shimmery light effect.  This photo looks like I could have been a bit heavier with the white, but IRL I like the look.  The image is QKR stampede, and the sentiment is 7Gypsies.

SCS Falliday Fest - metal

This Falliday Fest challenge at Splitcoaststampers requires a traditional Hispanic folk art metallic piece such as a heart.  I used a die to cut the heart from the foil lid of an International Coffee can (Hazelnut for me!).  I am also making this card to send to one of the charitable destinations - birthday cards for hospice patients.  I wass not comfortable saying Happy Birthday, so I combined die cuts from a couple of dies.  The bg is eggplant, embossed with more hearts (Darice).

Birthday blessings

Our Daily Bread image - colored with water color pencils - I outlined with the pencils. then used an aqua pen to spread the color.  The image is cut with a circle die and backed with a doily.   Blessings die by Cheery Lynn; pale yellow gems and ribbon.  This red and yellow has become a favorite color combo.

DTGD - Cathy's challenge

You may know that I do not do many CAS cards, but this did seem to work for me.  The sentiment is by Cuttlebug, and the butterflies by CC Designs.  I cut them from some scraps of "splattered" cs.  This was posted in my SCS gallery on 8-8.

SCS Stampersandee ThankYou

I am catching up on adding Dare to get Dirty cards to my blog - I actually did complete all 42 in 8 days.  Yeah!  This was first posted in my SCS gallery on Aug. 6.  I used a stencil and chalk for the bg for this big SU stamp from 1993.

SCS Dare to get dirty bookmark - Stamper Robin

This book mark uses spray starch, powdered chalk and plastic wrap - here on black shiny cs. I need to play around with this idea some more.   I added a Cheery Lynn dragonfly and some cord, then cut in a tag shape.  From my SCS gallery 8-8.
Basically, the technique is to spray cs with starch, add some color medium in colors and "design" desired; spray again with starch. In this example, I used 3-4 coordinating colors of powdered chalk, sprinkled on the starch.    You may choose to top with crumpled plastic wrap, perhaps smooshing it around a bit and allow to dry -this takes a while. I am sure using white glossy cs

HB, Ervin

Once again it is time to send a card to hubby's twin brother.  He is a retired farmer, and wheat was one of the local crops, so I wanted this image for his card - thanks, Aastha for the supply you sent.  I used watercolor pencils and an aqua pen to create the bg.

Sadly, my husband's brother-in-law has lost his battle with cancer.  We will send this card as hubby cannot travel that far right now.
The card is 5x7.  It is on shimmery cs with dark blue backing.  The oval is by Spellbinders,  the verses by Verve, and the embossing is Cuttlebug.

DT card for Eureka challenge #184

This is the card I made for the Design Team Inspiration at the Eureka challenge #184 - anything goes.  Such an easy challenge to enter - I hope you will join us this week.  I used the Eureka image "clover" and sentiment "May the road...".  It is a fun image to work with - easy to color, and it comes with its own sprinkles! I colored with Prismas and baby oil.  Oh, yes, there is another shamrock and longer stems - covered by the sentiment.  It is hard for me to leave blank space, so I added 3 light green gems, and embossed a corner with a Cuttlebug corner embossing folder.  Dry embossing is my favorite - so easy to use, and I like the resulting texture.

Remembering Gary's father

Unfortunately, I needed a quick sympathy card to get in the mail today.
This is one of my favorite ODB images!  I colored with chalk pencils to achieve a soft look.  The embossing folder is by Darice.  A bit of chalk sponged on the sentiment adds highlights to the texture. The cs I used is Recollections shimmery silver - I really like the result when it is embossed, and it is great for stamping images such as this one.

Practicing CAS

I still struggle with CAS cards, and will readily admit that this is an attempt for me to improve in that style.  I wanted to see if I could use my Cuttlebug embossing frame and I think it works.  My computer skills (especially relating to graphics) are also lacking - I have not been able to figure out if I have a program that will allow me to reposition the digital image.  I printed this in a 4x6 layout and it is satisfactory.   I edged the layer with ColorBox Marigold ink.  The image itself is colored with chalk pencils and glittery metallic markers.  For the larger leaves I colored first with a regular green marker, and over colored with the glittery marker - this looks nice and sparkly IRL.
