Paul's Birthday

I know I am getting old when our youngest is going to be 54!  I hope he will be ok with a somewhat vintage card.  I  usually do a hunting/fishing style, but wanted a different type this time.
Images - Tim Holtz Enjoy the Journey; DP - Basic Grey; letters - Cuttlebug Olivia; circles - Nesties

All pink and shiny

This image, from A Day for Daisies, is perfect for pink and feminine!  I used shiny gel pens for her dress - and I think she looks like she is dressed for school - maybe a party today?  I used a button die and added some AMuse pink and white twine.  The silver metallic rick rack came from a box at a yard sale - I got a lot of it for almost nothing!  The gems in the corner are pink.

Deja Vu Vintage

This is very much like a card I just made - for two reasons.  First of all, I am using up the very limited supplies in our RV.  Also, I was showing the first card I made to my friend - another friend saw it, and said her mother would also be 90 in a few weeks - could I make the card for her as well.  This Recollection vintage scene, called Toile, is very much a favorite.  The other pieces are scraps.  It is hard to see, but all pieces are ivory and black.  The letters are CB Olivia dies,  I added ivory birds from another favorite - Cheery Lynn Little Wings, available at oan's Gardens shop..

Not the Nice Nurse

These digis are both from Bugaboo.  The wilting plant is such a fun touch!  The coloring is with Prismas, and I used some DP from my endless stash.  The paper tape is Martha Stewart; the flower is Petaloo.

Sweet pink, black and white

When I first saw this image I was not sure how it would work - but I am pleased with this result.
Image - a freebie from A day for Daisies. colored with Prismas.  The sentiment is SU; DP is Paper Studio;  Die cut a CB border; circles and ovals are Nesties.  Using die cuts and my Cuttlebug is one of my favorite card making techniques.

Thank You #3

I have not used this Cuttlebug EF for a while - I should dust it off more often.  I chalked with a sponge, and added some tape and a sentiment from Recollections.

Spring fishing

This will be a fun card for some fisherman friend.  I used spring colors (misc. papers); added a bit of a banner and twine to enhance an image from Digi Darla.  I colored the fish with watercolor and chalk pencils, and sponged with lemon colored chalk - probably too faint to show up.  Since the second line was too wide for the Nestie, I just cut into the body of the image to place it over the die while cutting.  I am satisfied with that result.  (Using the next larger Nestie would have made the image too big for this card - and with too much white showing.)  In retrospect I wish I had trimmed the A and R a bit more.
Serendipity - as I was getting out my twine, I re-discovered an old mesh bag I saved for something, some time!  Well, this was the time - I hope it looks a bit like a net.

Spring in the garden

The image is SU Peace Within.  The butterflies are one of my favorite recycling ideas - punched from a (coconut) pie box.  To create the scene, I used two new embossing folders - brick and woodgrain.  I also used a leafy one (green) - all by Sizzix.  I sponged a bit of black to age the brick.  I hope the mid layer reminds us of paving stones.
I may use this sooner than expected.  I just learned that a friend has an inoperable brain tumor, so it will be a matter of days for him.  Curt, and especially his family, could use an extra prayer - their faith will sustain them, but I cannot imagine the strength that will be needed.

Murray in green

I used some DP that has been in my stash forever, but it works for Murray - a Rubbernecker stamp, colored with Prismas.  The tape is Recollection.  I did the sentiment on the computer - the answer inside is OLD!!!  The bg is very dark green embossed with a LifeStyle Craft EF.

After Valentine's Day Hearts

I ran out of time before I ran out of heart/Valentine challenges.  I think this shows the love, with hearts and the sweet Your Next Stamp image, yet can be used as a non-valentine greeting.  The DP at the top is K&Company, and the piece at the bottom is My Mind's Eye.  Sentiment is a dollar stamp.  I added pearls, scallops and a ribbon.

These Cheery Lynn butterflies are so delicate!  I added some Petaloo flowers, misc. D.P., and a sentiment by SU.  It has been separated from the set, and I cannot recall where it belongs.

Country Garden

This can be used for a "thinking of you" card when I need one.  The image is Country Garden, by High Hopes.  DP is Recollections, and I used a bit of adhesive tape from Basic Grey, as well as a bit of ribbon.  The coloring is with pastel chalk crayons, for a soft look.

Masculine Birthday

I need to add some masculine cards to my stash.  This image by Rubber Cafe is one I like a lot.  The sentiment is the library stamp from 7Gypsies.  Dp is Paper Pizazz, and the twine from PizzazzAplenty.  I used a button die - I struggle to find "embellishments" for the guys!\

Tasty Grapes

The Sweet Stop sketch challenge has a twist - show a tasty treat.  I have several cake stamps, but in the process of moving things around between the RV and the house, one of my boxes seems to have taken a hike.  However, I find a bunch of grapes a most delectable treat!  I sponged the image with chalk, and should have left well enough alone.  I used a garnet Spica pen to color the grapes - not a good idea.  The Spica ink was a bit too dark, and covered the lines marking the individual grapes.  IRL they do not look too bad, but on the picture it looks more like a blob.  They are nice and sparkly!
The image is SU Provencal - another favorite set I seldom have occasion to use.  The sentiment is from a set by Recollections.  The DP is by K&Company, and the flower Petaloo.  The pink layer is from the Textile embossing folder (CB).
The Craft Your Passion challenge is to use scraps.  I could pretty well include all of my cards.  Specifically, all layers of the small squares and the sentiment are from my "little scraps" stash.

Thanks for the Memories

I had time to complete one more card - a friend would like some thank you cards.  I got to ink up my garage sale find - SU Designer Greetings.  I got the ribbon with the stamps.    The DP is Recollections.
For this challenge, I used the sketch, then realized it has a twist - a movie or book theme.  I have in mind "Thanks for the Memories" - this is a thank you for a visit :"home".  But I suspect that old Bob Hope song is just that - a song.  Could it have been in one of his movies?  (I realize many of you are too old to know what I am talking about...LOL!).   http://sweetstopsketches.blogspot.com/

Two November birthdays

I have had little time for card making this week, but DGD is having a birthday soon. One reason I selected this stamp is to make her card - she is a sophomore and expects to play HS varsity later this year. Green and gold are the school colors, but I am not sure about the uniform!
The stamp is Your Next Stamp, with a Studio G sentiment. The basketball dp is by Paper House, and the words are on dp by Karen Foster. Coloring with Prismas and Spica pens.

I remembered just in time!  I added a "16" - big day!

This image was a gift from a friend at WishRAK, and is perfect for our grandson - he loves to hunt and fish, and this looks like his dog! I used the Sizzix fall leaf EF - a reminder of the aspens in CO. The sentiment is computer generated, and I bought a bag of plastic bone/buttons at a yard sale.

Happy Birthday,golfing friends

Friends of ours, a couple who love golf, both celebrate their birthdays this week. I will send them this joint card - including a huge golf ball!  The image is from a Wish RAK friend at SCS.  The dark olive cs and DP are AMuse, and the flowers are Petaloo.

ACAD - non traditional Christmas

Whew!    I just finished an hour and a half phone session to get me e-mail and blog access corrected.  We subscribe to an on line service - it is scary and pricey, but seems to be worth it.  I am not sure just what caused the problem, but all is fine now.
This week's Card a Day (on Splitcoaststampers) challenge, issued by Nat, is to do a Christmas card in non-traditional colors.
This is about as non traditional as I get for Christmas cards - the papers all come from a Paper Studio pad called Faith.  The stamp is unmounted and I have forgotten where I got it.  Actually, I omitted a bit of the image - too big for this layout.  I think it works without the buildings of Bethlehem on the left.  The sentiment is Studio G.  I added gold ribbon and half pearls.
Sketch: http://sweetstopsketches.blogspot.com/

The second card uses many of the same elements, with some red and green added.
The sketch is here:http://feeling-sketchy.blogspot.com.au/
