SplitCoastStampers Dare to Get Dirty 2016 -Susie Australia

This is one of a series of some 40 challenges at SCS - if you are a member there and belong to the Fan Club (membership fee required) you are eligible to enter - for fun and some great prizes.  This is for the challenge presented by Susie Australia - but, shhhh... the actual theme is only for Fan Club members!   This image is by  A Day for Daisies - I was working on one of the CASE challenges and realized it had ended, but I used the example anyway!

Tea Pot Party for Gabby

Each week the Tea Potters at SplitCoastStampers create and send cards to someone who can use a little cheer.  This week our cards go to Gabby, who is experiencing some health problems.  The suggested theme is "chef".  I have found that the Dearie Dolls freebies are a great source when I need an image and don't have something in my collection that works.  This cute (pre colored) guy is a case in point.  Not sure pizza is gourmet fare, but it is something of comfort food!  It also fits the challenge to evoke the smell of food - the tantalizing pizza is making me hungry right now!  For embellishments I used a Spellbinder set of dies (Blooms Two) I seldom think about using.  On the other hand, the letters are from a Cuttlebug Olivia set - one of my first purchases of dies, and a very useful one. For the 2x2x2 challenge - a double strand of twine; 2 shiny gems, and 2 letters.

Blue & white thank you

I will have several versions of favorite blue and white cards - for a neighbor.  They are thank you's for kindness shown at the death of her father.  I feel that a more tailored card is suitable for that occasion - I like the white embossing with the blue.  This one has Cuttlebug Swiss dots and Darice butterflies teamed with Stampin Up Reverse prints.

Simple Blue

This blog has been pink and red for several days, but it will be turning blue this week.  A neighbor asked me to make several thank you cards (thanking for friendship at the time of her father's death).  She asked me to use blue.  Although it is a favorite color of mine, I do not use it a lot as I find blue difficult to work with.  I welcome any comments and suggestions!   I will probably add a thank you sentiment when I figure out which one to use!   The image is Reverse Prints by Stampin' Up, and this embossing folder is Victoria.

Monochromatic again

Not long ago I bought a couple of these interchangeable folders from the Create and Craft tv show.  They are by Tattered Lace, and I will probably use them a lot.  I used teal chalk to sponge the embossing.  Now I would like to find a way to layer the sentiment.  This can be embossed without inserting the sentiment - I could emboss it separately and create a mat for it.  I will be experimenting.  I used Recollection shimmery champagne cs - one of my favorites for dry embossing.

Lots of green

I thought I should say in the title that this is green!  It certainly does not look green on my screen.  The base is what I would call kelly green, and the bg of the white swirls is kind of a dusky green.  That piece, by the way, is preprinted - another item from the Kamdam Lovely in Lace set.  (It was a huge set and there will be a lot of it - kind of nice for fairly quick cards.)  I fussy cut (well, sort of) along the right edge so IRL there is a bit of texture there.  The Scripture is a freebie from Word Art, cut with Labels4. The gems are pale green Rain drops (top left).

Marsala

Items from Lovely in Lace set by Kanban.  I was particularly intrigued by the current challenge at The Paper Girls.  Apparently, a hot new color is Marsala - a new term for me.  I know that color on the screen is not always true - but it certainly looks like the base color I used.  Since I (inadvertently) recently purchased a couple of packs of cs this color - now I can use it confidently, knowing I am in style LOL!!!  It goes well with these Lovely in Lace items.  the focal point is a punch out spray of flowers, with the floral bg.  I trimmed a bit around each piece, to allow the solid base to show through.  You may notice that the inner section has intentionally uneven edges - hard to cut, so I roughed them a bit for contrast.  I added a tiny button brad.

Twin birthdays

Late in August I need several birthday and anniversary cards for family members - and I feel like I am running out of ideas!  This is for a BIL who is a twin - his sister's card will appear next!  The papers come from a DCWV pad called Heirlooom - lots of good masculine looks here.  I have enjoyed this sentiment from QKR - pretty apt!  The Blessing sentiment is from Cheery Lynn.

Verve Scripture

This showcases one of the stamps in the Verve Scripture 2 set I just received as a prize from the Mojo contest.  I know I will use this set a lot!  I dusted off the Cuttlebug  embossing folder I have had for a long time, but have neglected recently.I used shades of grey and black.

White on white - sympathy

This is a favorite Cuttlebug embossing folder - I often color with something like chalk, but left this white - perfect for a sympathy card.  This is actually my sentiment stamp, but I am not at home and forgot to note the name.  I layered white on white - the black is not part of the card.

The church ladies

This image has been in my stash for a long time - I have lost track of the origin.  It SO reminds me of my grandmother - complete with the print dresses and the hat!
I feel I am working under a handicap this summer - I inadvertently left a box of my "tools" behind when I packed the motor home - including my punches!  (I got a tiny star one along....). So I have little in the way of scallops, but I hope this rectangle die works!  The corner treatment uses tiny flowers from a Cuttlebug border die, and the Blessings is a great new Cheery Lynn die from Joan's Gardens store.  I used the textile embossing folder (cuttlebug), which I chalked using black chalk.  The splotches are courtesy of my computer.

In memory of Mary Lou

This has been a difficult card to make.  Over the years, I have made several cards for our friends - including a 50th anniversary card last summer.  Yesterday, Mary Lou's struggle with Parkinson's and related issues ended, and she has gone to be with Our Lord.  She will be much better, yes, perfect, but it will not be easy for Jerry and many others as they deal with her loss.  If you are so inclined, include a little prayer for family and friends.  I will be making more cards as we have other friends who want to remember her.
I used the freebie from A Day for Daisies - thanks to others on the site who inspired the way I used the image.  I colored with chalk pencils for the soft look I wanted, and I chalked the Swiss Dot layer.
Sentiment - JustRite; chalk, Cheery Lynn die, glitter (flower centers), glittery cs for the bird;  Victoria Embossing folder; dark blue cs.
I will finish later....

Monochromatic Sympathy

I prefer a rather tailored look for a sympathy card, and I think this meets that criteria.  The embossing seems to keep a more classy appearance.  The coloring is a sort of dark seafoam - the ink is from an old SU Stampin' Spot - the label is Garden Green but it does match the cs very well.  The images are Verve (New Mercies) and the leaf is from a Lifestyle Craft die set.   The large banner is cut from another die in that set.

Blue wildflowers

This image is one of several sent by a friend from Wish RAK on Spkitcoaststampers.  It seems just right for a monochromatic look in a blue that has a teal tinge to it.

Monochromatic

I like the tailored look of blue with a touch of white - but once this was finished, this might appear to be more like Christmas than Anniversary.  Maybe I will have to change the sprigs and branches.   They are Cheery Lynn dies.
