Chocolate Card - Scribbles Fancy Fold or Shaped Challenge

Its October 15! Time for some new design team projects! We have a new challenge over at Scribbles Designs!  This month, our theme is "Fancy Fold or Shaped Cards."

PSSSST. Did you know that Scribbles Designs regularly gives away FREEBIES?! "Like" our Facebook page to get all the news!

Here's my project:

I used the digi called "Chocolate." Since the digi was so small (because my card is so small!), I used colored pencils instead of Copics to get to the tiny corners.  I used a gel pen to fill in the words on the chocolate bar.  Paper, cardstock, ink, sequin trim, and ribbon is Stampin Up. The sentiment says, "sometimes chocolate is the best therapy" and that stamp is by My Pink Stamper.

You don't need a Scribbles image to play, but if you do use a Scribbles image, however, you can enter as many times as you wish.  Go here to play with us! And did you know that there are freebie digis on the Scribble's blog?! Check em out!

Scribbles Design Challenge - Midway Project

Its Nov 30! Which means we're halfway through our Scribbles Designs challenge!  This month, we want to see your Remembrance cards and add an (optional) fancy fold. Here's my project:

I used the image called Spring Rain Flowers.  All I did was print them on different shades of green card stocks.  Cut out the middle portion of the big flower and popped it up, to give it dimension.  I added some newsprint paper, stamped on some stems, and added some pearls.  Easy peasy! Love that Sandy's doodle designs are so intricate that you don't really need anything to make the card POP!

New Challenge at Scribbles Designs - Remembrance with a Fancy Fold

Its Nov 15! Time for some new design team projects! We've got a new challenge over at Scribbles Designs!  This month, we want to see your Remembrance cards and add a fancy fold. Here's my project:

I used the image called Carl with Heart.  Inked him up with Copics.  I added some texture to him using colorless blender and some darker green dots. Stamps are by Stampin Up. Background paper is by Basic Grey (Persimmon).  Just made a simple easel card.

Sypathy Card with a Scribbles Designs Image

I had to make a sympathy card and I had already printed this digi out from Scribbles Designs (offered free during the design team call).  I decided to ink it up and put it on a card.

Sunflowers inked up with Copic markers.  Used some scrap designer paper, a computer generated sentiment, and some Stampin Up card stock and satin ribbon.

Our first Scribbles Designs Challenge is midway through! The theme is Anything Goes with a Scribbles image.  One is offered free for you to use! Check out the blog, follow, and enter!

Sympathy card for Grandma

My GIL's brother recently passed and I had to make a sympathy card in the midst of all of these Christmas projects.  I remembered seeing a card somewhere in blog land using this Because I Care stamp set and some newsprint paper.  Figured I'd put them together today.

Everything is by SU! except for the Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder and copper colored emboss powder.  I added purple in there so it didn't look so drab.

'Till next time!  Tomorrow is the start of another Lia Stampz challenge so stay tuned for that!

Stampin Up bird punch sympathy card

This card is 100% Stampin Up!  I hardly ever use the Stampin Up bird punch, but it really is very convenient.  Birds can be placed on any card, for any occasion.  I had to make a couple of sympathy cards so I used the bird punch as the main highlight and also used the decorative label punch and modern label punch.  Also used the basic pearls, some rub ons, and a retired stamp set.

Sometimes you just don't want to break out the Cricut!

I'm going to be super busy this weekend and next week with projects... So hopefully I see you folks soon!  I'll definitely have a lot to share, that's for sure!

A smile in a sea of sympathy cards

It was getting a bit depressing with all the sympathy cards I was making so I figured I'd make a quick and punny one to take my mind off of sadness.

I gave this card to my husband which made him crack a smile.  :)  I was pretty happy about that smile!

Colored this with markers... didn't come out as bad as my water color! The image is from MelonHeadz Illustrating.

I was also gonna enter this in Kaboodle Doodle's Mystical Creatures challenge, but I was too late. :(

More dirty watercolor and mail from Scrappy Mom's

More sympathy cards today and more dirty watercolor.  This digi is from Beccy's Place and she calls it "mum's flowers."  This looks like plumeria to me so I colored it pink because here in Hawaii we have pink and yellow plumerias. :) I like the pink ones.

(click for larger image)
I'm kinda silly and didn't match my pinks even though I have all the SU! colors.  I think I just had a brain fart from so many sympathy cards.

On a happier note, my prize from Scrappy Moms came in the mail!  Woohoo! Check this out:

I do not own any of her stamp sets but these look like high quality H2O!   I can't wait to make a card with them.  I won the Spring Fling stamp set and spring is over but I'm thinking I could make at least one of these sentiments work.  And I'm really excited about the pink acrylic blocks!!!  It wasn't as pink as I thought it was going to be which makes it just pink enough for a pinkaholic to have but not too pink that it distracts from seeing your image.   And I dig the shape/finger grips!

Tomorrow I'm participating in an Autism walk.  Waking up early and super excited about it! :) Have a great weekend, my online pals!

'Till next time!

Stampin Up! Sympathy Card and a Party at The Outlawz

The reason why I like SU is because their stuff always makes my stuff look like a million bucks because everything matches and stamps well.  I spend so much money on SU that I actually signed up to be a demo just so I could get the discounts!

(click for larger image)
This one is just super simple and reproduced really well.  I could make a few of these cards with just a few sheets of card stock.  I don't have any sympathy stamps (because I feel like its bad juju!) so I thought that this stamp would suffice.  Everything is SU except for the background paper which is by Deja Views.

Entering this in the Outlawz CAS challenge which is a pick-and-choose recipe: brown, turquoise, kraft, paper piercing, and ribbon.

And for those of you that don't know, the Outlawz are having a party!

Check us out, we'll be doing challenges and giveaways and prizes!  I <3 PRIZES! :D

Cherry Blossom Sympathy Card

We all know that my "art" regarding coloring digis leaves much to be desired... so I've created my own new technique to disguise my flaws... I call it dirty watercolor! I distress sponge my digi first over the entire thing, making it muddy and brown.  Then I watercolor the image mixing colors with the muddiness, creating a vintage-y distressed look.  Look, you can't see my horrible coloring!

(click for larger image)

Now that I'm looking at it, I realize that I forgot to distress the sentiment piece.  Whoops.  The image came from Beccy's Place.  She lends her images for free, she's such a sweet woman!

Beer Card

I haven't posted in a couple of days.  I haven't known what to say about anything since Saturday when my BIL passed away in a car accident.  I cried for a few days straight and now it's time to create those sympathy cards...I don't know what to even write inside of them.

I'm the type of person that needs to talk to people when I'm upset. I'm very grateful for my one girlfriend who called me to check up on me and cried with me on the phone. She is truly a remarkable friend and I'm very blessed to have her in my life.  All you need is one really good friend!

I know I have all of you, my online friends, who keep me smiling and I'm so thankful for all of you too.  The one thing that got me through this weekend was reading everyones blog updates and looking at all your cute crafts. :)

So, this week I'll be posting my sympathy cards (and probably keep busy by *attempting* to color more digis!) but for now, I'll post a card I made before this weekend happened.  A fun beer card for my Uncle!

Sympathy cards

Glad blogger is back up and running!  I have a few comments deleted so I'm sorry if I never got back to you if you left me a comment.  I usually comment on everyone's blog if they've left a comment but I have no archives of the comments I received in my previous post.  :(  So sorry about that, but if you leave me a comment on this one I will definitely leave you some love on yours. :)

There was some sad news this week.  My husband's dear great grandmother passed away.  I made a bunch of sympathy cards for the family.

(click for larger image)
My bestie's grandmother gave me some old vintage lace trim and I decided that it would be nice to put on a card.  I used a SU stamp and punches.  I embossed the background with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The sentiment is from my all time favorite sentiment stamp set from Impression Obsession.  It has 92 word stamps and you can mix and match words for any occasion.  If I didn't have the right sentiment to go on a card, this stamp set saved me!

(click for larger image)
This one is for Grandpa so I made it blue.  Still a bit feminine, but at least it's not pink!  I  water colored (tried!) an old SU stamp and used Accent Essentials to create a stretched scallop to fit it in.  Some black satin ribbon and the same sentiment completes it.

The first card was entered into the Clear It Out Challenge
The second card was entered into the My Mum's Craft Shop Challenge
