Published...And A Giveaway!!!

Former stylist and Hollywood event producer Jet Moody (how much do you already love her based solely on her name?) contacted me wanting me to do a Q&A on makeup for her new site. I was ThRiLlEd and excited. Jet moved back to Utah not too long ago and was kind of sick about the fact that there really wasn't a site to inform ladies about all things fashion going on. Boutiques opening up, designer shows, up and coming artists and the like. Well thank heavens for HER right?!? ; D I was super excited about the idea of getting correct makeup concepts into the hands of readers. I mean isn't that what I do here on the blog? I'm by no means an expert. You're learning, I'm learning and well, that's just a happy place I think! I would love for you guys to go and check it out and tell me what you think!!! Will you??? Pretty please??? =D Here's the link: http://www.fashionutah.com/a-sit-down-with-classy-cosmetics/

ALSO!!!!!!!! I loved doing that cute tutorial with Kevin but ladies I am NOT about to tell him we have had not one SINGLE picture sent!!!!! I think his poor little feeling would be hurt. I am ALSO going to leave out the fact that I am now about to BRIBE you to send some in!!! You know that I absolutely aDORE my F80 foundation brush from Sigma. It buffs everything in so perfectly and holds a good amount so you actually use less.....once you experience your fist application (HA!).
So who will be the first to find an image that Kev needs to copy and send it to me? Send me a link, send me the actual pic to my email or pop the picture in the mail! =) This offer will go until I get at LEAST 5 pics to choose from. Help me out here ladies! I will keep you updated as to how many entries we get. I also never did my 1,000 subscribers giveaway and I have a HUGE makeup case to giveaway!!! Any of my readers in NY? I will be coming there the 9th-11th, yes NEXT WEEK!!! I'm so excited. My FIRST trip to the big apple!!!!! =D Okay, get to finding pictures. Send in as many as you want!

Votre Vu and MAC Giveaway!!! *CLOSED*

So I think you are all such great followers. Do you know that? I love hearing your emails and comments. Some have moved me to tears with how you had "given up" and not felt like you had the time to put any effort into "you". Trust me when I say that I have been in your shoes. I have woken up with two little boys, not had time to do ANYthing to or for myself and had no car to get around (we still only have one) so I figured, why get ready? What a WASTE of product when no one will see me. I barely even saw my husband during the years of working and going to school full time. I would be in bed most nights before he got home. I remember back to a time where I was counseled to look my best to feel my best. It didn't mean being overly shallow and obsessing about what I looked like on the outside. It means getting out of bed, knowing that you are important to not only your family but to someone who has a perfect love and wants to see you happy. For me that is my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I am sorry if this offends anyone who isn't spiritual but it is who I am and I love what my faith offers me =). I know that I am important and it makes a difference when thinking about my inner and outer appearance. It's not rocket science to know that if you get out at least 3 times a week to exercise, even if it's not that strenuous, your body will thank you! Endorphins will be released leaving you happy and healthy. Washing your face every night will make you feel clean and will keep your face clear. Eating healthily will keep you energized and will help with clear skin. For those of you that are moms, set aside time for yourself to do a five minute "face" so that you feel ready to face the day. It could be the five minutes before your hubby gets home but make the time to feel pretty. I've been trying something new that I want to share. First off, I miss going to work (somewhat LOL) because I got dressed up, put makeup on and I felt a part of something...a team! What I have been doing is saying to myself Monday Wednesday and Friday are my "work days". I get up a bit earlier, put on my makeup and a nice casual outfit. Being a mom is my "job" so I plan activities, projects and meetings with my "team" (even if the attention span isn't the same LOL). My days off are for SURE earned and I wear sweats and no makeup if I feel like it =). I want you to know that each and every one of you is worth MILLIONS!!!!! Take the time to pat yourself on the back for the good that you do, the projects you either finish or even attempt to finish. Strive to be the type of person that everyone loves being around and you will be beautiful inside and out.

Having already written a novel it's time to give back to you to show my thanks. I am so excited to partner up with Marti to offer you a great beauty giveaway! You will be able to try out the amazing french skin care goodies that have been gracing several magazine covers and articles, a SIGMA trial sized brush, PLUS a 6 color MAC palette!!! It doesn't stop there, we are going to have two winners this time =). Our first prize winner will receive the Votre Vu Skin Care, the MAC shadow palette and the brush. Our runner up will also receive Votre Vu goodies in addition to my FAV lashes, the Demi Whispies in black and a Maxine's Mop brush!!! How do I enter? Well, I am so glad you asked ; ). It's really quite simple. You must:

- be a follower (that's a given right?) =) this is open world wide p.s.!!!
- be 18 years old or have parent's permission to give out address to receive prize
- refer as many people as you can to do the same
- leave a comment saying that you follow and anything else you want =D
- have your "referrals" do the same and list YOU as their referrer (is that a word?)

Our first prize will go to the person that refers the most people and our runner up will be chosen by random.org. Our contest starts today 4/10/2011 and end one week from today 4/17/2011 at midnight MST.  Good luck!!!

Sigma Brush Review

I had someone ask about Sigma brushes but I had never used them and couldn't give my opinion....until now. Sigma was kind enough to send me a few to review for you. I chose ones that I would use the most and therefore recommend the most.

The first one comes to us from Krystle in California and the second from Nicole in Colorado. Krystle, I LoVe the shape of yours!!! Nicole, what did you use as a filler? It looks so sparkly and beautiful!!!!! That tall brush in the back Nicole and I got together. It is also a craft store find that can be used as a powder brush. How much do we all love the craft store??? =)

My Must Have Brushes For Leigh Anne =)

Having purchased quite a few brushes good and bad these are my must haves starting from #1 most important on down. If you are just building up your brush supply then start at the top =)!!!
#239
#217
#272
#187
#222
These are the brushes that I LOVE and use ALL the time. I have 2 #17s and the #239. The 239 can also be found at the craft store for only $4.95!!!!!!!!! It is not the same brush but just as good. It is the Maxine's Mop 3/4" Loew Cornell brand. I have also gotten my eyeliner brush (see below) and many more paint brushes there. See older post: Brushes Can Be Cheap.

Yeah Becky!!!

Becky has made a gorgeous brush holder. Just look how easy it is to find the one you want and place it back in =). Remember after washing do not let them dry upwards like this!!! I feel the need to review older posts and that was one of them. Most of the handles are wood. Over time the water will drain down into them causing them to rot.

Filler For Brush Holder

This is the filler that I picked up from Michael's. It is available at most craft stores and is GREAT for storing your brushes. Go and get cha some =).

Remember This Post?

Going way back to some earlier posts =). Has anyone made your Sephora inspired brush holder? What does yours look like? Send some pictures to sisternartker@yahoo.com.

Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes

When I said that the brush handle would mold eventually, I meant rot. Boy I am making lots of oops today =).

Most Used and Needed Brushes

Nicole is building up her brush collection and asked which ones I use the most. Here they are =).
From left to right they are:
- MAC 129 for blush and bronzer
- Loew-Cornell (LC) 7450 Chisel Blender for liquid liner (Michael's Craft Store)
- MAC 239 OR the one above it is the same and cheaper at Michael's. It is LC 3/8" Maxine's Mop.
- MAC 272 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! For crease work
- MAC 217 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! For all blending and some crease work
- MAC 187 For foundation (1000x better than the 190!!!)
- Nicole Miller Powder brush and MAC has the 150
The Green handled brushes are the MAC travel sizes. They are the same #'s as the regular brushes just shorter and a different color. They are great starter brushes but I am building up my regular sized ones now. Also you can go to coastalscents.com and see their brush selection. I have heard great reviews on them and you can get up to 13 brushes for only $16.95 plus shipping. Check it out!!!

Homemade Brush Cleanser

Monica asked how to make homemade brush cleanser. You can buy one from Mac for a little over $10....but you can make your own for soooo much less!!!!! Pictured here are the items that you will need. The brush cleanser bottle from MAC is ideal to use again for your homemade cleanser so DON'T throw it away!!! You will need:

- 1 cup bottled or distilled water
- 1/4 cup alcohol ( I use 99%) This will be your disinfecting, sanitizing & antibacterial agent
- 1/2 TBSP dish soap (if it can cut grease on your dishes, think of the grease on your brushes)
- 1/2 TBSP gentle shampoo (I used baby shampoo)
- 1 TBSP spray leave-in-conditioner (not cream) to condition bristles

Stir GENTLY!!!!! You do not want the soaps to start foaming or to sud up. After it is all mixed together pour it into your container and there is your inexpensive homemade brush cleanser.

Sephora Inspired Makeup Brush Holder

Has your brush situation ever plagued you? Scrambling through the abyss that is your makeup bag looking for the right brush only to grab your mascara for the THIRD time?!?!? Well fret no more ladies...here it is...THE brush holder!!! Go to any craft store, find ANY container that fancies you and put in any flower vase filler that is nice and small. If you get them too big the brushes won't stand as well. It's super cheap and a GREAT way to organize your brushes. I think I am due to get another and separate the eye brushes from the face brushes....the possibilities are ENDLESS!!!!!
