Card Design: Ike's World Challenge #12...Movie Madness

Good morning everyone.  Unfortunately, due to the circumstances of last week, I didn't get a chance to post about our newest challenge over at Ike's World during my regularly scheduled time last Tuesday. So, I am squeaking in with the B team this week to tell you about our MOVIE MADNESS theme.

Long story short, because we all know I have a tendency to go on and on, this also isn't what I had originally planned for our current theme.  Hopefully, I'll get a chance to still work that card (once I get it done), into a future theme.  For now I am lucky that I already had this image coloured up.  To make another long story short, this image was the one I was originally going to use in my Blog Hop card but at the last minute wanted to change the hair colour to match the colour scheme of the card better and make him paler, so I set this one aside.  Well thankfully I did because it means that I could put this card together for this fortnight's challenge.

My movie you ask?  Well, with a bevy of vampire movies to choose from, the one I went with is the Lost Boys.  There is just something about this vamp.  He could very easily have fit in with that group so well.

Remember, You can join in Ike's challenge with a creation using any kind of medium or style but remember that in order to qualify to win the prize you MUST use an Ike's Art image. You can find some fab ones in the store HERE.  There is also a freebie available over on the challenge blog that you can use to enter the challenge but please be respectful of the artist's rights and do not post, pin or share the image with anyone else. Instead, if you know some people who might like it, send them over to the challenge blog so they can pick it up for themselves.

Here is my project...

FRONT
Image Details:
  • Vamp: You can find it in the 'My Latest Designs' section of the Ike's Art store or by clicking on the watermark below.

    • I have coloured this image with Copic markers:  E000 and a bit of E00.  Eye and lips: R11, R14, R17.  Hair: E21, E23, E25.
Embellishments:
  • Red tear drop stones--from Dollarama.  I wanted something that looked like drops of blood.  I think they achieve the look I was going for.

INSIDE
OVERALL
Digital Sentiment:
  • "Blood...It's in you to give", is a blood bank slogan common here in Ontario.  I'm sure that it is used with other blood bank advertisements as well.  I just thought that paired with the vampire image it made a fun reminder for someone.  I designed it in Publisher.
 Paper Products:
  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
  • Designer Paper:  Recollection's Bold & Basic Paper Pad.
  • Matting:  Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, black.
Challenges I am hoping to enter...
What will you create using one of Ike's wonderful images?  You still have one week to pop over to Ike's World Challenges and play along with us. You can find out everything you need to know in order to play, by heading to the challenge blog.  I've linked the logo below to take you there.  While you are over there, please be sure to check out the incredible creations offered up by some of my fellow DT members.

Until next time,

Ike's World Challenges New Release Blog Hop

http://ikesworldchallengeblog.blogspot.gr/

Hello everyone, and welcome to the exciting NEW RELEASE BLOG HOP taking place over at Ike's World Challenges.  We are here to showcase the 12 new images from IKE'sART and here's the full view of all of them.

So unique, aren't they?!  Our leader is such a wonderful artist.  Each of us on the DT got to play with an image (or two).  Here is the incredible image I chose to work with...

As many of you know, I am a super fan of all things science fiction and fantasy.  High up on the list is vampires so I was thrilled to be able to play with this digi.

Here is my card and the details.  I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

FRONT
Image Details:
  • Vamp:  I have coloured this image with Copic markers:  I based the skin in N0 before adding E000.  I didn't want my vampire to look too human but I don't really have the right colours to make him extremely pale.  That is also why there isn't much shading.  Eye and lips: R11, R14, R17.  Hair: C3, C5, C7, Black.
Embellishments:
  • Lavender pearls--from Dollarama.
Designer Paper:
  • The purple patterned paper on the front is from the DCWC Bella Rouge Stack paper pad.

INSIDE
Sentiment Details:

  • One I created for this occasion.  If there is interest I'll offer it up as a freebie.

OVERALL
 Paper Products:

  • Card base and also used for embossed pieces: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, black.
  • Designer Papers:  The strip on the front and the one on the inside are also from the same DCWC paper pad.
Embossing Folder:
  • Cricut, Paper Lace II embossing folder was used for the piece on the front and also the strip across the middle on the inside.
Challenges I am hoping to enter...
I truly hope that you will hop in as my fellow DT members have created some awesome projects for you to see and hopefully inspire you, so without further ado - here is the Blog Hop list...

Card Design: Ike's World Challenge #3...Anything Goes

It is time for the latest challenge over at Ike's World Challenges.  This week for Challenge #3 the theme is Anything Goes.  The theme that truly seems to be everyone's favourite.  You can join in with a creation using any kind of medium or style but remember that in order to qualify to win the prize you MUST use an Ike's Art image.  If you don't already have an image and would like to purchase one, check out all the awesome images available in the store by clicking HERE.

Check out what I made this week...

General Information:
  • I think that this project probably qualifies as my first ever go at Gothic.  Now that is kind of strange because this is one of the styles that I am drawn to for my entertainment.  I love the world of Vampires and all that is Science Fiction and Fantasy.  I just have to figure out a way of thinking creatively in that area.  The awesome thing is that the range of images over at Ike's Art is so incredible that I can go from working with beautiful flowers or cute little animals for one creation and use a very dark image in my next.  Although I think it will be awhile before I do anything too dark.  I'd have to figure out a theme behind my card first.  However, if I start hanging out more at the blogs of my Ike's World Challenges teammates, I know I'm sure to pick up some inspiration.
  • I found another awesome paper that had a design built in.  I love the lacy appearance of the corner of the paper and thought that it helped add to the look I was going for.

FRONT
Digital Image:
  • Catular:  This menacingly cute cat was an image I picked up as a freebie last October.  I adored it at the time and finally came up with an idea of how to use it.  If you are interested in 'Catular' you can find him in the Animals section of the store or by clicking the watermark below.

    • I've coloured the image using Copic Markers.  Cat:  C1, C3, C5, C7, B91, 100.  Cape:  R32, R35, R39.  The grounding around the image and the actual ground are all done with three different colours of chalk.  I also used a coloured pencil to add texture to the fur and to darken the immediate space underneath the image.
Digital Sentiment:
  • The digital sentiment is one I created but haven't released yet.

INSIDE
Other Details:
  • I thought it would be cool to use the same paper only this time I flipped it so that there would be balance between the front and inside.  I also chose to leave the writing area blank and not add an additional sentiment.  Since I don't have an immediate purpose for the card, I figured I could just write what I was 'fangful' for when the time comes.

OVERALL
Paper Products:
  • Designer Paper:  The paper I have used is from DCWV La Belle Rouge Stack.
Challenges I hope to enter:
I hope to be able to enter some challenges later this week and/or month.
