Card Design: Path of Positivity #32 Midway--Gratefulness

Hello!  I realize it has been a while since I've been able to participate in this challenge but I had a chance to create for this month's midway for The Path of Positivity Challenge; so, I'm here to share my card along with the freebies from this month's challenge as well, which you can find at the bottom of this post.  Don't forget, even if I don't show them here, you can always find two new free sentiments each month, always on the first and third Mondays of the month over on
The Path of Positivity Challenge; so, be sure to check in over there.  I'd love for you to join in our challenges as well.  While the themes are different from your average challenge themes, just giving them a little bit of thought can often help you to figure out how a particular project you have, may apply to the theme.

The theme this month is Gratefulness.  There is so much to be grateful for in our lives.  Even when things are difficult and you are not feeling all that thankful, there is always something, even if it is
something small, that you can be grateful for.  Is there someone that you should be saying thanks to or maybe you could simply share the general sentiment of gratitude.  It is the perfect season to be expressing gratitude especially for those of you living in the US with Thanksgiving approaching at the end of the month.

This month our sponsors are...

and Kitten Scraps...

http://www.kittenscraps.com/

Since I'm on the Scribbles Designs Design Team, I opted to work with an image from a designer I've never worked with before. Kitten Scraps is a company that is new to the Path of Positivity family.  Nathalie, the owner specializes in Digital Scrapbooking kits.  In fact, it turns out that Nathalie lives less than 2 hours away from where I do in Sudbury, residing in North Bay, Ontario.  Small world eh?!

Anyway, with the theme this month being one of gratitude I thought it was the perfect time to create my hubs' Christmas card.  I am truly grateful for this amazing man in my life.  He is always supportive and there for me no matter what.  I need to start thanking him more often for being the incredible man that he is.

The Kitten Scraps store had the perfect set for me to work with.  The hubs' (and I as well) just love penguins.  In fact, our small bathroom on the main floor is decorated in penguins.  So, when I saw this set, I knew it was perfect for his Christmas card.  The cute little character I used certainly puts a big smile on my face and I hope it will for him as well.

Here is a link to the kit that I worked with called: Winter's Playground Bundle...
Winter's Playground Bundle

This bundle is filled with lots of fabulous goodies.  To find this bundle in the Kitten Scraps store, please click on the watermark or name above. To find out more about which specific items I used, see below.

General info:
  • This card was created 100% digitally and then layered in a poster mockup.  I will print it out and assemble it a later date.
  • Other than the sentiments, the cloud pattern and a couple layer styles, everything I used is exclusively from the Winter's Playground Bundle.
  • This card has been inspired by a sketch from I saw over at All Dressed Up Challenges

FRONT
Digital Image and Elements Details:
  • As mentioned above, the main image (skating penguin) and elements (snowflakes, snowballs, buttons, button thread, heart gem, frame), are all included in the Winter's Playground Bundle, available from Kitten Scraps.  I believe that each of these items is available in the smaller Winter's Playground Kit, if you don't want the full bundle. Click on the watermark below to find its location in the store.
Winter's Playground Kit
  • I took one of the snowballs, cut it in half and enlarged it in order to serve as an ice pond for the penguin to skate on.  I then added a snowy background using a layer style courtesy of Designercow, Photoshop Layer Style. Then I added the snowball trio image and then added three other snowballs making them different sizes.
  • Clouds pattern used in behind penguin courtesy of Webtreats, Etc.

Digital Sentiment Details:
  • One I created for the start of the challenge.  You can find it below.  I simply recoloured it for the purposes of this card so it would match.

Digital Sentiment Details:
  • One I created for the inside of the card, made to match the one used on the front.

Digital Paper Products:
  • I have used two patterned digital papers and two solid ones, all from the Winter's Playground BundleYou can purchase these paper kits separately if you would like by clicking on the watermarks below.

Card Design: Scribbles Designs Challenge #35...Christmas: Non Traditional Colours

Hello and a very happy Sunday to all of you.  Today marks the start of our new challenge over at the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog.

This time around, for Challenge #35, the theme is Christmas: Non Traditional Colours!  While Christmas is knows for its bright reds, brilliant greens and sparkling golds and silvers, there are many other wonderful colours that can represent Christmas just as beautifully. This month we'd like to see a Christmas themed creation using non traditional colours. It is time to bring out the blues, pinks, purples or other non-traditional colour palettes and give your Christmas project a different kind of hue.

Apparently the weather up here has decided to get in the mood for this challenge.  IT SNOWED!  Way too soon as far as I'm concerned.  I'd like it to wait until Dec. 23rd then snow like crazy for two days then stop. Period.  Though, something tells me I am not going to get my wish.  Anyway...

In order to participate in our challenges you DO NOT NEED TO USE A SCRIBBLES DESIGNS IMAGE on your project but you must follow the monthly theme and the other rules that have been established for our particular challenge blog.  You can find them, along with the prize information, listed in the right hand sidebar of the challenge blog.  This challenge will end at 9pm PST on December 15th.

You can purchase your Scribbles Designs images HERE and there is a free image over on the challenge blog as well to help get you started.  Also, be sure to check out the special Freebie Friday posts as it is another great way to build your Scribbles Designs collection.

I'm Sponsoring...Through the Craft Room Door 2015 Celebration

Wow, can you believe it?!  Through the Craft Room Door is celebrating its one year anniversary under the management of Cara Malmrose.  She has done such an awesome job that when she asked if I'd sponsor a special blog hop in honour of her anniversary, I just had to jump on board!

The blog hop actually started on November 1. So far there have been two mini blog hops, each starting on a Sunday morning and running through the following Saturday, closing at 6pm.  I'm coming in on week three as one of four different sponsors for this particular week.  The theme throughout the hop is 'CELEBRATE' so I hope that you'll join in and do just that!

Here are the prizes that I have up for grabs for one lucky person...

And for everyone who participates in this week's hop, you'll also receive this freebie...well...just because!

These balloon elements are in png format and published at 300 ppi. To grab them head on over to the Through the Craft Room Door Blog, and follow all three tasks laid out on the TTCRD blog. Credits include: Pixel Scrapper.

Freebie: A Day for Remembrance

Hello folks.  Once again it is November 11th.  A day that should always be remembered.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in the year 1918, the battlefields drew quiet as the hostilities ceased.  Thus bringing an end to World War I.

Each of us living in Commonwealth countries around the world, should take a moment today to remember and honour those who have bravely fought in ALL wars to help keep the peace and keep us safe.

Each year I try to honour this day in my own small way with something special.  Here is a digital paper I created for anyone interested.

 https://app.box.com/s/hnrinysfogv54f8lt9f5cvn8ns31cu47

This digital paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. I've used resources from Pixabay, from Heather Green of HG Graphic Designs, and Rita from the The Coffee Shop BlogFull credits in the file.  To grab it, click the download button to be taken to a download location.  In the zip folder you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the full credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

MAY WE NEVER FORGET!

Card Design: Pattie's Creations Challenge #116...Birthdays

http://pattiescreationschallenge.blogspot.ca

Welcome all!  I'm here today to announce the next challenge over at Pattie's Creations Design ChallengeThis time around for Challenge #116, the theme is Birthdays. If I am not mistaken, it is both the month of birth for our great leader Pattie, and her sister Sandi, who happens to be our Team Leader.  So it is the perfect month to be celebrating the theme of birthdays!  Happy birthday ladies!!!

Here is my card, I hope that I haven't forgotten any important details:

General Info:

  • I have done a similar card in the past using washi tape as the framing around the image.  I really liked that card so much, and got some great comments, that I decided to do it again.  I'm sure it won't be the last time either.  In this case, it is almost like this washi tape was made to match the flower on the shoe.
  • I knew the exact images I wanted to use this month as I had the perfect sentiment to go with them!
  • Of course because the main image was actually printed on the base of the card, the markers showed through.  Thankfully I had this fabulous plaid paper lying around from a recent card I did.  The colours matched perfectly with the washi tape.  Don't you just love serendipity!

Digital Image Details:
  • Pumps With Flower:  Aren't these shoes awesome?!  You can find the image in Pattie's Etsy shop by clicking on the name or watermark linked below.
  • This image was coloured with Copic markers.  The ground was added with pencil crayons.

Card Design: Scribbles Designs Challenge #34 Midway Point...Fancy Folds or Shaped Card

Happy November 1st!!!  I truly cannot believe that there are only two months left in this year.  My goodness.  I blinked and eleven months went by!  Since it is the start of a new month that also means that it is time for the midway for the latest Scribbles Designs Challenge to get started.

There are two whole weeks left for you to come on over and enter.   In case you've missed it, the theme this time around for Challenge #34, is Fancy Folds or Shaped Card!  From Accordion and Gatefold Cards to Sidestep and Z-Fold Cards, there are so many different types of fancy folds or shaped cards to choose from.  Most of us get into the rut of sticking with traditional square and rectangular cards.  While these standard shaped cards serve their purpose, it is time to challenge ourselves and try something a bit different.  This month we want to see you practicing different card folding techniques or at least presenting us a card with a different shape, such as a circle, bottle, cake, or baby onsie shaped card for example.  It doesn't matter what kind of fancy fold or shaped card you present.  As long as it is NOT square or rectangle, it will qualify for this month's draw.  So, what will it be?  Double Tent, Easel or  PoP UP? Or maybe you'll go with Candle shaped, Scallop edged, or Christmas ornament shaped?  This month thinking outside of the box, may actually be a box!  We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Entering is super simple!  You do not need to use a Scribbles Designs image; however, if you do, your name gets entered into the draw twice.  You can purchase your Scribbles Designs images HERE or you can also find one for a limited time on the challenge blog HEREAlso, be sure to check out our special Freebie Friday posts as it is another great way to build your Scribbles Designs collection.  You can find the rest of the rules and information regarding winners in the sidebar on the challenge blog.  You have until 9pm PST on November 14th to come over and play with us.

Here is my card and all the details...

General Information:

  • I love this party hat from Scribbles Designs.  I've used it on a variety of occasions now:  as part of cards, as part of a digital button when we did the surprise blog hop for Sandy's bday a few years back and have also added it to another image to give the character a party feel.  It is a fab image with a variety of uses!
  • I coloured the image in digitally and then created a template so that the hat would serve as my card.  I created the 'pom pom' separately and added it after the card was folded.
