Freebie: Happy Hallowe'en 2020

Hello on a cold (-3 degrees Celsius), damp and dreary Hallowe'en night! While we had our first snowfall of the year a few days ago, the cold wet weather is persisting. Unfortunately, I don't think that many kids will be out and about tonight. We've purchased some treats just in case but I can't see too many parent letting their kids go out given the current pandemic that is raging through its second wave here in Ontario. The numbers in my home province are almost twice what they were in the spring on a daily basis and our hospitals are filling again! Thankfully in my own community the numbers continue to be relatively low. At least that is one benefit of living in the northern part of the province! It has been quite a year hasn't it?! I hope that you and your families continue to stay safe out there wherever you may happen to live.

While hubby remains downstairs ready to hand out treats just in case any kids brave it (it's already close to 7:00 p.m. and not a knock so far), as usual I've been up here on the second floor of our home on the computer getting stuff ready for the first of the month and of course making you all a Hallowe'en themed digi paper. Now I am aware that some of you do not celebrate Hallowe'en, but as I've mentioned in years past, Hallowe'en is actually of Christian origin. Whether you celebrate it or not, maybe you can find some use for this year's freebie.

Check out the preview...

This digital paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. I've used resources from Creative Fabrica Crafts and HG Designs. Full credits in the file. To grab it, click the download button to be taken to a download location. In the zip folder you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the full credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

It is a busy time of month so join me at The 12 Months of Christmas for our newest link up or at Scribbles Designs for our midway tomorrow. Then if everything goes according to plan, I should see you again next Friday when I'll be back with my card for Pattie's Creations!

Until next time,

Shiver Me Timbers! Talk Like a Pirate Day 2020 Be Here!

Sail ho, me hearties! Will ye drop anchor 'n visit wit' me fer a wee bit o' time? Th' yearly celebration where ye flap yer jaws like a buccaneer be upon us! Arrr, indeed, today be Talk Like a Pirate Day. Shiver me timbers! Even th' scourge that be out thar in th' world plaguin' mankind, won't be stoppin' me fellow buckos from drinkin' some grog 'tis day. However, me thinks that 'tis year, things be a might different. In past years, each September 19th, thar be parrrrties, fund-raisers, pub crawls, 'n other special events takin' place all over th' world. Sadly, 'tis year, festival after festival be cancelled. As Ol’ Chumbucket says (more about that seadog below), it’s as if all 'th pirates be marooned. We be 'Pandemic Pirates' 'tis year wit just our pirate families, unable t' be wit our larger pirate family abroad! No need t' hang th' jib though as me sure thar be many scallywags out thar who be findin' ways t' still be parrrtyin', even if just wit a much smaller group o' mateys virtually!

Fer thems o' ye who be me followers these past few years, ye be knowin' 'th history o' 'tis day's beginnins. Fer thems o' ye who be unawares o' 'tis unique occasion, it starrrrted out as a fun concept in 1995, encourrrragin' people t' talk like a pirate. It be created by John Baur (Ol' Chumbucket) 'n Mark Summers (Cap'n Slappy), hailin' from th' state o' Oregon in th' U.S. Accorrrrdin' t' Summers, th' day be invented as th' result o' a sports injury. While th' two mateys be playin' racquetball, one o' thems reacted t' th' pain with an outburst o' "Aaarrr!", 'n th' idea be born. Thems two scallywags sent a letter about thar invented holiday t' th' American syndicated humor columnist Dave Barry in 2002. 'Tis chap be likin' th' idea so much he promoted it. Th' media grabbed hold o' th' holiday after Barry's column 'n it now be an international event followed by many each year on September 19th.

If ye be on Facebook, ye can log in 'n see Ol’ Chumbucket share some news 'n Cap’n Slappy himself be plannin' t' go live from his special seat at th' Calapooia Brew Pub t' wish ye th' best of th' day as well (link t' find yer way below).

Fer all ye seadogs 'n scallywags alike, just like in past years, t' help celebrate 'tis glorrrious day wit' a bit 'o swag, me be givin' ye fer free some booty from th' coffer. Ahoy! Every old salt knows th' boat can't leave port wit'out a good anchor on th' ship…

https://app.box.com/s/hwfehhuliiaoepafetebgu6wdxthvvkb

T' be grabbin' 'tis treasure, click on th' button above t' be taken t' a download location. In th' zip folder ye will find a copy of th' loot, its preview sheet, th' credit information 'n me terms o' use which are standard t' all me folders. 'Tis loot be in jpg format 'n published at 300 dpi.

Now o' course me can't be sendin' ye along yer way wit'out a pirate joke or two:

Q: What's a pirate's favourite movie?
A: Booty and the Beast.

Q: Why couldn't the 10 year old go to the pirate movie?
A: Because it was rated ARRRR.

Oh, 'n if ye be interested in findin' out more fun facts about 'tis fun day, be sure t' check out th' official Talk Like a Pirate website available HERE (FB link in sidebar).

Well me hearties, 'tis time t' weigh anchor 'n hoist th' mizzen! Until me be sailin' these fair seas again,

Note about me pirate name...
Passion be a big part of me life, which makes sense fer a pirate. Even though me not always be th' traditional swaggerin' gallant, me steadiness 'n plannin' make me a fine, reliable pirate. Arrr!

If ye be wantn' yer own pirate name, be cerrrrtain t' click HERE.

Happy Independence Day!!!

It is still the Fourth of July for some hours yet and that means that all my wonderful American friends, followers and readers are celebrating Independence Day today. As promised on Wednesday, here is another freebie--this time in honour of the U.S.A.

I decided to stick with the same type of theme as the Canada Day papers, as today's papers also features cupcakes only this time in red, white and blue. While one of the papers is specific to the States only, I decided to also create a copy without the text so that others could use it as well. Check them out...

Card Design: Pattie's Creations Challenge #172…Anything Goes

http://pattiescreationschallenge.blogspot.ca

Hello there folks! I hope that each of you is continuing to stay healthy in your own little corner of this world. While some locations are doing okay with the re-opening there are other areas that opened way too quickly and are now suffering a a result with significantly increased cases. There is also speculation that a second wave is hitting but the first hasn't even finished yet in some places. Good luck to us all as we continue to battle this awful virus that has affected over 10 million people and taken over 500,000 from the world way too soon!

I'm popping in today to announce the next challenge over at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge. This time around for Challenge #172, the theme is Anything Goes. Once again you can upload your projects with any kind of theme. If the image looks familiar, I used it a couple of months ago on a birthday card. I needed to create 10+ thank you cards for hubby who received some money from his siblings for his 70th birthday. I asked hubby to look through some images I had so that he could decide what to use on the cards since they were coming from him after all, and he chose the adorable mice image you'll see below. Now I just have to get them printed and assembled!

General Project Info:
  • This card has been created 100% digitally and then layered in a Mock Up (courtesy of Frisk Shop). It was printed out and assembled prior to dissemination.
  • The inside of the card has been left blank for hubby to write his thank you note.

Card Design: Pattie's Creations Challenge #170…Anything Goes

http://pattiescreationschallenge.blogspot.ca

Hello there folks! I hope that each of you is doing well in your own little corner of this world. It appears that the curve is starting to flatten in various locations and hopefully soon we'll start down a path to healing and coping until a vaccine can be developed. In my own province we're looking at slowly opening up the economy in phases but always guided by the health experts as to how quickly we can do that.

I'm popping in today to announce the next challenge over at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge. This time around for Challenge #170, the theme is Anything Goes. I'm sorry I'm a bit late posting my creation. The later half of April is always crazy busy with my birthday, my hubby's birthday and our wedding anniversary occurring within a 10 day period (even when we can't go anywhere!). I wasn't sure I was going to have any time at all to get a card created for this challenge but I managed to squeeze some time in during the first half of the month and put together an Easter card for my hubby!

Happy Easter!!!

To those of you who celebrate, Happy Easter!

I realize that this year we are forced to celebrate Easter a little bit differently than most of us normally would and that for those of you with extended family and especially young grandchildren and/or young nieces and nephews, it may be especially difficult not seeing the little ones in person. My heart goes out to you if this is your situation. The great thing is that with all the technology available these days, reaching out to our loved ones is easier than ever. I hope that you have the opportunity to connect virtually or by phone with those you love during this special long weekend.

I have it on good authority from the Prime Minister of Canada that the Easter Bunny is considered an essential service and therefore will be allowed to cross borders and travel into each of the Canadian provinces. In fact, I heard a report from the Premier of Alberta and his team that they have extra supplies of personal protective equipment stored up in their warehouses that they will be sharing with the three worst hit provinces in our country. Additionally, they have also promised to send the Easter Bunny some equipment as well so that he can do his job safely. I hope that the Easter Bunny has received special dispensation to travel to your part of the world as well.

Hopefully EB will have the opportunity to bring most of you some sweet treats or fragrant ones. My gift to you is this digital paper in honour of today…

This digital paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. Credits include: Creative Fabrica Crafts and nicjulia (both via Creative Fabrica). To grab it, click the download button to be taken to a download location. In the zip folder you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Before I go, I wanted to share a link to a sweet video I watched earlier in the week. Some adorable Meerkats take part in an Easter egg hunt in the London Zoo while it is closed. You can find it HERE.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! I'll be spending the day with my own amazing hubby who continues to have to go out every day and work since his job is considered essential!

Until next time,
