Tuesday Treasures and the Expo Show

This past weekend was taken up with Jim's Expo Antique and Collectible show. I usually don't find too many treasures but I sure did this time! The little bird in the cage is a music box. Someday, I hope to find one like Tasha Tudor owned but this was just sweet and didn't cost too much.

The pink lusterware teapot was a find and a bargain. As I shared before, the one from Vermont arrived broken last summer and the the one from Concord MA won't hold water, so I have been hoping to find one to use with all the lovely teacups I do have!  I couldn't resist this one for $26!

When I decorate for Easter in my tea room, I like to add my Peter Rabbit items. I have been adding to my collection of the Beatrix Potter figures that go with her little book. I love Mrs Tiggy Winkle and I found her at the show.

Another sweet addition...Hunca Munca.

One of the vendors at the show often has Tasha Tudor books. He knows I'm a collector, so he usually brings something I can't seem to resist. I had this little "Tasha Tudor's Treasure" but this copy has
sweet little illustrations drawn by Tasha to the owner of the book. I love to find these and up grade my books.  Each book as a very charming little drawing.

Here we are on Friday after we got all set up for the show. Let the fun begin! We had a great show. We have some wonderful customers who really support us and make the hard work all worth while.
I'm showing some photos as I like to document Jimmy's shows. Enjoy.

Tuesday Treasures....Ya Ya Ya!

Hello blogger friends! I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day and President's Day. It made for a long weekend for some of you. Jim and I had fun at a few sales and had dinner with our kids and grandkids on Sunday afternoon.

Today for Tuesday Treasures, I have some German goodies to share with you. My heritage is German and I am drawn to German goods. It's funny how you find a group of similar items when you are out shopping sometimes.

Isn't this little miss adorable? She is a hand puppet! Her head is wooden and she is in great condition.
I have a thing for puppets too.

I think I need a find a good German name for her...ideas?

This is a stern little German lady doll. The owner told me she was probably a cottage industry gal. Her outfit is detailed and I love her shoes. It looks like her face is made from nylons.

This is my most favorite find of the shopping spree! It is a darling board book, printed in German. It reads Old Rhymes with new Images (or Pictures). It is illustrated by Else Wenz-Victor about 1925. She was a very popular illustrator. Her work is just charming. As with other illustrators of children's books, I seem to fall in love with their work. I will be on the hunt for more of her work. I do wish my German was better...high school was a very long time ago!

This is a little paperback book, also with darling illustrations. I'm not sure of the date or who did the illustrations in this book. I need to spend some more time on this one.

This is a very small plastic pin. The characters seem to be in traditional costumes and it's just so cute.

My SIL Chris is also German....Chris Wirth. He enjoys German made items too. He told me I had a couple Christmas gifts coming. He had ordered them from Germany, so they were a little late arriving. No problem for me! I love presents any time!

This is a tiny Santa. He sits on a little wooden bench. He is holding a flocked tree. It's only about 2" tall.

This is just beautiful! It's a glass ornament with a little Christkind in the center. Pretty special, huh? Thank you so much Chris.

I'm linking up with Stephanie's ROSES OF INSPIRATION. SO many fun things to enjoy from her blogger friends. Pop on over.

Doll Show

Last weekend it was time for another Doll Show! I just wait for these. The event has been moved to a new location...the Monach Hotel which is very nice. The lighting is good and the place is roomy.

There is so much to see at these shows. Eye candy for sure! I was good and didn't buy a doll this time. I did find some treasures and will share them in future posts. I hope you enjoy viewing my photos.

Valentines is coming. I think it would be fun to have a white or red feather tree like this one!

The Tootsie Toy metal dollhouse furniture just fascinates me. I didn't need this set but REALLY liked it. SO cute!

An older lady had this dolly for sale. All her dolls were baby dolls and it was so cute . She loved them all.

This was a sweet little trio!

Another pretty lady.

Here's my sweet Jimmy with a former customer of his when he worked in the pharmacy. Clint is retired now too and his wife Karen is a doll person. She has just gotten into miniatures and dollhouses, so we see them at the miniature shows as well as the doll shows. It's become quite fun.

This is a lovely book...the translated title is The Queen of the Dolls.  It was retold, translated and the lovely photos were hand tinted by Edith Bartholomew in 1965. It's the story of a beautiful doll in a doll shoppe....the Queen of the dolls. She lives in a doll shoppe but is never chosen as she is too expensive. It's a sweet story.

These dolly gloves are one of the treasures I bought. They are made of leather and are a very soft pink color.

As always, I had a most wonderful time at the show.

Tuesday Treasures

Tuesday evening and still a bit of time to post my finds from this past weekend. I spent the afternoon OUTSIDE, cleaning up my front flower beds. It felt so good to be outside in the fresh air. The rains backed off and it was quite warm for January....47 degrees! As I watched the nightly news, I wondered what my friends, who are still buried under tons of snow, would think of me outside working in my yard!

This is a sweet vintage porcelain candle stick holder with a metal parts. It is German, but I don't know the company. It is marked GES GESCH. That actually stands for Gesetzilch Geschutzt which means legally protected. The marks were used after 1899. I really can't find much information about this sweet piece. It has been used and is missing some of it's gold trim, but I still really like it.

I like the metal candle holder and the metal handle. It just makes it a bit different from the others I have seen.

It is now living in my tea room and looks quite comfy there.

I also found this little milk glass hand. It was made by Avon and is small. I have been looking for one for awhile.

I wanted the "hand" to hold a little paper Valentine that I have had for awhile. Perfect!

I adore old lace and tatting. Isn't this a wonderful piece of vintage tatting? There are 3 yards of this!
It is just beautiful

I have never found a piece of double tatting. So pretty. I would like to learn how to tat, but I am not very good at this type of craft.

My hubby actually found this book...it is wonderful. It is filled with 165 photos, all of children from 1860-1920. The pictures are not individually dated but each country is identified. Some photos are from Europe and some are fro America. It's fun to study the clothing as well as the children. They just look like little adults!

I am linking up with BERNIDEENS blog party. Hop on over and see what's going on with her blogger friends.
