March calendar page / Hello spring

I wanted to share a calendar page I made. For the past 4 + years I have been with a group of ladies and we all make a calendar page or two (depending on how many calendars you want) I do two months I chose March and June. This is my March page.  I used PTI die for the background and TE die and stamp for the window and image. I love the soft colors and tried to make it more spring vs. fall by using more greens vs. fall colors. It is so much fun to see these pages for a whole month. I keep one at work and one at home. Everyone does an awesome job on their month. I only know one of the ladies who contribute the others live on the east coast. They are all bound at the top, this was my page before it was bound, before I sent it off to get joined with the other months.

Happy March 1st.  Time is flying by and the weather is changing and I am loving the lighter skies in the morning and coming home from work. It's also been nice and sunny in SW Washington and I am loving this. My crocus are up and blooming, the daffodils are coming up, you can see the trees changing. Bring on spring.. I thrive and feel so energized from the sun..

 

Well on to the next challenge at Unscripted Sketches #246  I turned the sketch so it fit my stamp choice.

 

This is my card using the above sketch. I have this stamp set from My Favorite Things and wanted to use it and thought this open space would be perfect. Over on the side I add the little hearts, which are covered with Wink of Stella glitter pen and glossy accents to give shine and the little rhinestone blings. I used my spica copic pens to add little shine to the wording (your, change, the) and to the doodle. It's kind of hard to see but it's nice and subtle sparkle. I used an embossing folder for the blue block to give it some texture. Hope you find time to play along. We love seeing your work. Make a card, scrapbook page for framed project. Have fun.

Welcome to Free Friday at Catch the bug / Bugaboo

Today we have Cute Bear Balloon.. He's free so check out the image at Bugaboo/Catch the bug.  I decided to make a birthday card. I have two great grand kids who's birthdays are coming up and so I am thinking Jetta will get this one. Perfect for a little girl.

Wednesday is a new challenge at Paper Pretties #299 - this challenge is TECHNIQUE...

Let see what you have to show as your technique. Tell us what you did. 

I thought it best to do photos vs. saying what my technique was. I love the different looks this can give and it's quite simple. Ink, embossing folder and your paper choice. See photos below on how I did my background...

 

Just ink the inside top flap with what your die/chalk ink

very - very carefully lay your card stock inside and close the top w/o moving it around

run it through your embossing/die cut machine

open and you should have a nice layer of ink on the lower part and the top part should be the card stock color. If you wish for the opposite look you can ink the bottom part of the embossing folder and then your ink will be on the raised part vs. the lower part. I wanted my sky to be blue and the cloud (swirls) to be lighter.

Here is my card using the above technique. I wanted a clouds effect. I used the image "story time Sophie" stamp and thought the green ribbon gave a grassy look. I had the perfect brad to add to the card.

Catch the bug / Bugaboo new release /nurse bunny/get well

Woo hoo besides today being pay day.. :) it's also new release day at Catch the bug / Bugaboo.. We have Nurse Bunny... Cute huh????

I had fun layering this card and making a little tag (reverse confetti) that I don't use enough and love the look. I put glossy accents on the heart to give some shine. I also used my viva pearl pen, I use to use it a lot but have not done it lately. Always nice for that extra added touch of texture.

I have a dear friend who recently lost her dad. Always so sad. I've lost both of my parents and know how she feels, she has lost both of her parents now too... I made this card for her and her family.

It was a new stamp set from Simon Says Stamps which I have been wanting to use. I really kept this card simple. It's all about comfort.

It's time for another sketch from Unscripted Sketches #245

I hope you play along. It's rather a simple sketch and you can do a scrapbook page, framed design, card... what ever you think might work. Just have fun and post over on our blog at US.

 

This is the card I made using the sketch above. I pretty much made the sentiment (which I love) the focal point. I thought there needed to be something in  the lower blue area so added the butterfly. Kept it quite simple with dies and punches and card stock. Pretty simple all the way around.
