The Travels of Skully and Friends

Hope you all are doing well and enjoying the cooler season upon us! I am combining Tim's 12 Tags of 2014, September and Linda's Compendium of Curiosities III, #11 Challenge! Linda and the CC have instructed us to open our books to page 52 to learn all about "Effect Powders." What great projects the CC shared with so much inspiration! Now to play along you must have your own copy of Tim's awesome book! This challenge is being sponsored by Inspiration Emporium and there is a $50 prize and always a chance to win a lovely package from Tim and Mario, so that is pretty darn cool!

And so it began with the background for September's tag and I used the "Gothic" stencil (I picked from a previous CC#3C win at the Funkie Junkie Boutique) and I followed Tim's instructions mostly!! I made a few attempts with poor results, so instead of the blending solution, I decided to try it with clear embossing ink that I lightly heat set. The alcohol inks I used were Sunshine Yellow, Sunset Orange, Lettuce.

The leaves treat with the same colors, but mostly Lettuce and a touch of black. I used a script stamp from one of Tim's Halloween sets and touched the edges with Red Geranium.

Now for the "Effect Powders" CC#3C challenge, I can't tell you how I did that, but I did use Black Soot, Antique Linen and Vintage Photo. My creepy crew will be traveling over to Inspiration Journal to join in the "Fall is in the Air" challenge and Lisa's Bloggers Challenge "Fall Colors"

Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit!

Falling for Fall!

My Fall Feature is doing triple time, but each challenge is so connected!  Frilly and Funkie's current challenge is Fall into Fall, using the color palette of Fall, such as Brown, Orange, Olive, Rust, Cranberry, Harvest Gold.   You could be the winner of a $25 gift certificate to The Funkie Junkie Boutique or receive a Winners Badge!   And as luck would find it, The Funkie Junkie Boutique is also this week's sponsor of the Compendium of Curiosities 2 challenge #22, in which there is another chance to win a $25 gift certificate to this lovely boutique!  This week the lovely Linda instructed us to open our books to page 57, Riveted Patchwork.  Now as luck would have it, this challenge also fits in quite well with Tim's 12 Tags of 2012, September!  Got to love how this worked out!  Linking this up to Saturday's I Spy at Sizzix!
You know the rules, we cannot tell you how the technique is done.  Buy the book!  What I can tell you is this!  For the leaves, I used Tim's dictionary paper and inked them up, edged with Rusty Hinge and then clear embossed.  The little letters behind the filmstrip are also from the Lost and Found paper.  I pushed the larger gear and time piece into Lemon Squeeze ink and then clear embossed for a little touch of gold!  The start of Fall numbers were cut from chipboard using my Cargo Numbers die, inked with LS and then clear embossed.  The outer tag was distressed with Rusty Hinge and then I sprinkled on gold embossing powder, which collected nicely in areas and still leaving some rust shinning through.  I really liked that!
Come on and join in!  It was great fun working on this tag, well except for the foil tape peeling!  Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting!  Have a wonderful finish to this week!
